So grateful that you could help me get 7 more months out of my oldest fish friend! You do incredible work and me and oscar thank you so much! Without your help he would have been dead a lot sooner. Rip oscar
I'm so sorry for your loss... but I want to thank you for taking care of your oscar because fish are some of the most abused and misunderstood pets in general. Thank you also for letting dr Loh take video of your fish and the operations, it's so important for educational purposes. I hope the next year is better for you. :)
So happy to see that respect was shown for Oscar. Even though he may have passed away, it is CLEAR that you intervening improved his quality of life. Just like a human, enjoying a shorter, more fulfilling and pain-free life is much better than suffering for a long time. It's just so interesting to see the parallels between fish and humans. I've always known fish were intelligent creatures, but your channel has made me realise just how complex their systems are and how similar they are to us. Rest in peace, little Oscar.
I don't know how long the owner had his Oscar for but it's sad to see someone who cares for his pets lose one. We do what we can for our pets but sometimes it's out of our control. Sorry for your loss!
I’m the owner and yeah as said 4.5 years he is what got me started in the fish hobby! My first fish I ever owned so it was a very sad time seeing him like that
Hey Doc! It would be great in a future video to show us what books you study/read so we can get more information on our fish and of course knowledge! Keep up the good work!!
Poor oscar. :( Sympathies to his keeper. sometimes the only way to save them is to save them from suffering by ending it in a humane way (and it's always gut wrenching). Thank you both Oscars keeper and Dr Loh for doing all you could for him. Not many would have bothered to call a vet.
I don't think there's a viral cause to this, though we've not investigated beyond histology. Neoplasia of the eye and kidneys are not uncommon in oscars.
Oscars in dirty waters are really sensitive to all kinds of infections around the head. The water in that tank looked on the grey side..hazy. They seem not too fussy on PH...they might be from the Amazon, but look how they thrive in the waters of south Florida full of limestone rock. So,I think high water quality low in pathogens, pollutants, is what's important. I'm still waiting Doc for you to take on fatty Arowana eye. What's the cause? Water? Diet?...is there a cure by pill? or surgery only?
@@KOv997 I believe you..I see it was one of your older fish too. They do get so many problems -serious problems- with tumors, head in hole disease. Maybe it's just what they do eventually. I've kept them...large ones also.
Dr. Loh, my goldfish is growing something that looks like a brain on top its head. its started small and its getting bigger. I can see the veins inside it. What is it????
I HAVE SEVERUM FISH, THEY'RE EFFECTED BY POP EYE... HOW TO CURE THEM?? WHAT KIND OF MEDICINE SHOULD I USE, PLEASE HELP ME.. I'M REALLY WORRIED ABOUT MY SEVERUM FISH.
Hi sir. My Oscar having a cloudy eye about 1 week. I'm currently using melafix and pimafix but there is no differences till now. Any other treatments ?
To get a better idea of your problem, you may wish to post with pictures in our VISITOR post section on our Facebook page - tinyurl.com/thefishdoctor-facebook
Luckily, in a way, that that's just due to trauma, rather than a cancer. Most Fish have a sixth sense, their lateral line, making it easy for them to adapt to loss of vision.
@@thefishdoctor8746 I see that , the only issue that he has is at feeding time , he only see the food on 1 side, but it seems like he is slowly healing.
Hi great uploads I have a Question what causes popeye in freshwater mollies, and what the best medicine, I checked your page and couldn't find any video on it thanks
That's not a straight forward question to answer, since pop eye can be due to several reasons. Most commonly due to septicaemia, however, cancers (such as this case), trauma, gas bubble disease, genetics and obesity are some possibilities.
If he's got pop-eye, it's a sign of very serious disease and you'll need urgent veterinary attention to save him. We could be dealing with septicaemia. Behavioral and buoyancy changes will accompany such diseases.
What's the steroid going to do? Stanzanol takes water out,,it pulls water off humans, that's why they use it for bodybuilding, iam just curious why use that for fish?

I love the outtro song what is that?
What is that black dot fish's eyes cell ?😨
Is there a chance that it could have spread to the other fish in the same tank?

How to cure the blind eye for flowerhorn fish
when you say granuloma tissue, is that the same as proud flesh?

Water was only dirty due to trying to catch oscar out and having to move wood and rocks. Tank is 1000L and gets 600L weekly

I got an Oscar with only one eye , apparently another tank mate pick on him 😞

What did you use to preserve the eye
10% formalin, at a ratio of 1:10, tissue sample to preservative ratio.
If my betta has Popeye, could that also cause him to lose buoyancy and sink?
If he's got pop-eye, it's a sign of very serious disease and you'll need urgent veterinary attention to save him. We could be dealing with septicaemia. Behavioral and buoyancy changes will accompany such diseases.
Anyone else cringe at the electrical outlets being right under where the water was coming out?
Came looking for this comment, that made me so nervous!
I wonder if he can go to fish frys?
