Have you ever dealt with emotional burnout? How did it feel and how did you manage to recover from being burnt out?

We only realize it with some time and perspective but that's the "definition" of how we might get to that point.

That lack of enthusiasm for things you used to enjoy is a sign not to be ignored! I dealt w/ this recently n I knew when I could not pick up my crochet hook (something I usually do to relax)without feeling stressed it was time to make some changes. I also started getting migraines n insomnia n knew this was not good. I spoke with my dr. and he told me to take care of myself. So I changed jobs n am enjoying life again!☺

And i thought i would be able to manage it since my work moral is pretty high but im feeling almost non human at this point i dont care about anyone or anything and im not like this and Ive never been like this. Ive lost appetite ,sleep i have no energy to do anything at all im just sitting eating sleeping. I have bumps on my neck and Pain in my left shoulder all the way down to my ankle. I thought it all came from the Pain first so i went to a chiro , he told me i should go urgently to the hospital and get checked. Just writing this is exhausting its insane and im 29 years Old

Nursing is a profession where people burn out. Even in the 80’s on a geriatric floor, 11 patients on day shift. Nobody to do baths. There’s multiple medications to give, wound care, Foley catheters were rear. Patients were incontinent of bladder and bowel. Nobody to fill water pitchers, feed patients, pass trays, run to the lab. I was in and out of the hospital. I couldn’t even do home healthcare, do charts or coding without burning out and ending up in the hospital. I was always stressed out due to schizoaffective disorder. My mental health was always bad. Unfortunately I can’t work anymore. I can’t do anything, because it’s way too fast paced. Believe me, I’ve been threatened about being fired a lot. There’s always someone who can’t do the work. They are better off without me.

I'm a Nurse too, and I used to dislike everything that you've spoken of here, and still do, but I didn't take the Covid shots and ending up working in a Call centre. What's worse than all of that you have mentioned?? It's working in a Call centre and spoken down to by "managers" who make it their business to micromanager and bully because they can! At least as a Nurse I was shown respect!

I have been experiencing all these signs within the last 6 years. At this point, I have lost hope in what I do as a career. I just do it to pay my bills until I complete new degree to try a different career path. I have experienced 6 different jobs (due to company closures and lawsuits). I have filed lawsuits against 2 former employers for failure to pay me fairly. The other four jobs either closed or it did not work out due to toxic environment. I have physically relocated twice into new towns hoping for a better opportunity too. As a result, I have become apathetic and could care less. I will go a month without completing paperwork. I just want my paycheck until I can enter a new career. At least, I recognize this is not sustainable until retirement age. I hope it is over within 2 years, then I can do something worthwhile. I just don't know what else to do to cope with it all. Work for me is a living hell. Finally, I am in a decent position, but I am so burnout all I can think about is a new career.

Hello 👋 I'm sorry for what you're going through. Don't give up! There's always hope and if you need to talk to a therapist don't care about the stigma some people put to this. Talking with a therapist doesn't make you crazy. When you need a doctor because of a pain in the back or a broken leg, why shouldn't we ask for help as well for our mind and spirit? I hope this helps. Just know a stranger is wishing you well 🤗🤗

Around June 2020, I have been transferred to a completely different department, not even related to programming (no contract paper of me transferring department from HR at all), and my fav IT manager has resigned. Now I'm stuck doing telemarketing & monitoring students during exams. And I dislike my new manager because of his attitude (toxic boss-type) :(

She complains and is very unethical and unprofessional. I wrote a bad review about the company and they tried to retaliate and tell me i need to be there at 8:00 am. I have to get my baby ready in the morning for daycare and get up and just repeat. I have tried to take off work but they make me feel bad about it.
