I was born in Wallsend in 1962, my granda and 2 uncles all worked at swan hunters on the Tyne, and my family all put 'man' on the end, as in 'waye aye man', 'haddaway man,' 'ye all reet man,' etc.. maybe showing my age here, but we had an outdoor netty too, just like the young lad there described his lol.

Ah this Australian misses Newcastle. Learnt to understand Geordie from living there and when my parents came over for my wedding to a local lass noticed they couldn't understand a word the taxi driver said to me in the whole 20 minute ride from the station ha ha. I was Geordie fluent by that stage and forgot what day one was like :)
