Just realized this after long times, but there's a very good reason Li Shuwen of all people uncover Iori true nature because they are similar with each other, they seek strong enemy to defeat to honed their own skill. In his journey to perfected his technique, spear and fist, Li Shuwen murdered many master of martial art and become too strong to someone to beat him head on which ultimately got him killed by poison from family member of person he murdered.
Why didn't these scenes happen at the first playthrough? Maybe the first playthrough takes place in a parallel universe where Iori priorities his duty over his inner desires?
At first, Iori is very weak and we get more power over time, so his true desires are humbled by his own lack of power. But when we start playing NG+, Iori’s initial background wouldn’t make sense, so as a student that surpassed his master, he becomes more bloodthirsty and his true desires manifest as the game progresses.
Iori's true nature is fascinating and frightening. Would he turn his blade on Kaya or only those he deems enemies? Thank you and may Jesus Christ be with you.
