I enjoy your videos. I don't do work on Hvac but fix scissor lifts. It was a little amusing about your explanation of a starting capacitor being like a battery but to a lay man that was probably the best approach.
Good move .. I noticed you asked if the Reading on the display was PF … I have an equivalent Heat Pro, that wasn’t working flashing on display, pool repair guy informed me that it was a loss cause .. needed Freon that wasn’t available? Any thoughts on that ? Thanks
Thanks for the video! My fan won’t spin on my pool heater. I hear a click when I try to turn it on. Both capacitors read 0 for capacitance, but when I checked ohms they both seemed fine. Any idea what could be wrong? Or what I should check next?
@@PipeDoctor I failed to mention I wasn’t sure if I did it correctly when testing capacitance.. I have a cheap harbor freight cen tech multimeter, the symbol looked similar to the one in your video. In the event it’s not the capacitor, what would you test next? Fan motor?
Hey Mikey !!…my Jacuzzi electric heat pump not working…I hear a buzzing noise every 2 minutes or so from unit…fan running but found Cap no good…replaced but still makes that buzzing for a second…compressor bad ??…put my hand on it and don’t feel like it’s running ??…I guess I should check with manifold set…will see if my auto R134 will work with the R410 ??…THANKS !!
I would say they were actually very lucky all it was is a capacitor. Usually theirs a refridgerent leak in those and I you can't find it, their screwed. :)
Hi Mikey. I have a hayward heaterpro heat pump and I turned the breaker on for the unit after opening my pool and I am getting an error code cOP. It looks like the unit label indicates this as a Thermistor Open error code. Can you confirm and is this an easy fix? I'm in NJ and trying to figure out who to contact to repair this.
So I am basically trying to do the same swap on my pool heater...same model in video. My fan capacitor has 2 yellows and 1 brown. In the video you didn't say what to do with the other yellow. You removed the one because you went from 2 capacitors to 1 but never said where the other yellow wire goes. Any suggestions?
be careful when going from individual capacitors to a single dual cap, as some of those unit's may be dual circuit power fed and have the fan/controls off a separate breaker/power supply and the compressor all on on it's own. that one was single power feed, so all is well there, but it's always something to look out for on others.
New nickname for Peter, Peter, Peter pumpkin eater had a wife had to eat her 😂 j/k of course he’s not a hefty young gentleman, let’s go Peter learning the best trade on the planet!! Hope he sticks with it and you, he can be very successful if he ultimately chooses this career. Side note I just left a trane condenser where the common from the contactor to the capacitor was all burned up only the OFM was running, high amperage I’m thinking, any thoughts? Man I’ve replaced at least 20 caps this summer already and it not over yet…
Might not be the right career for him? Or maybe just caught at the wrong time on video. Setting the meter to test the cap could not even be done without help. 3:25
Great fix....always get rid of two caps and go with the dual..makes life easier for everyone...as always...entertaining and informative

You should go on Hayward website and find a local repair provider

Why were you talking about 10% for the caps? They're usually marked +/- 5 or 6%
