i been in Normandy couple of times and i love each time to explore new areas but i love to visit this museum and the story behind. for me it's formidable what a single guy has done and after visiting almost every museum ww2 in the area i can completelly say that this is a MUST visit , for me as a collector and enthusiaust is a 10/10 and the staff there is top notch , they speak every EU languaje , swedish , english , spanish , french, polish..... 10/10 for me. just discovered your channel , keep the good work !
I went to this museum in October 2018 .i must admit I was impressed with it.I could have spent all day there unfortunately we were time limited.it wasn’t very busy so luckily No crowds to contend with.Would recommend to everyone 😁👍👍
Great museum. Agree with lighting and sound changes. It would be much better if they’d announce 1 minute of loud “Saving Private Ryan” sound every 30 or 60 minutes. That would make the museum experience more pleasant, and then really jar you occasionally: making it a special experience.
I went here not so long ago, and yeah, I loved all the interesting things on display, but as you said, it was overcrowded and there was a lack of information.
Great collection. For your information the uniforms come from various french collections and are all ww2 genuine. We know about the lighting. It is a delibarate choice as we can't use daylight or powerful spotlights for conservation reasons and keeping to the scenes a dramatic aspect. Just need more room !
Thank you for the comment and information, but dark places and with all due respect other museums face the same problems with lighting. And they have great modelighting to go with it.
I agree with the comments about the lighting - Why not use large LED's overhead for a more natural top light ? They do not get hot and will better present the dioramas with more realism.
Despite comments of some guys about messy and wrong lights, next time I will ever go to Normandy I will visit this very interesting museum because I saw some unique pieces! I wish I could go now...! Thanks for sharing this video👍👍
I liked that museam but the lightning as you said was crap, i felt bayeux's museum did a better job in lighting. One museam i wish i went too was dead mans corner, heard alot of good things about that one. I also thought the one museum that really blew me away was honestly the Merville battery due to the battle damage and story of that place. Great vid btw. Would love to see one on some of the battle site locations.
Dead Mans Corner is not that great, it is expensive and not really a lot to see in terms of vehicles, there is a glider simulation and that must be good if you are 12 years old, good shop for souvenirs, picked up a replica sten gun last year. I go over for a few days every year, I would recommend the Normandy Victory Museum on the old A10 airfield and also Omaha WN60, far East of the beach, Talliville up from Juno beach and also follow the 47th Commando route to Port en Bessin. Agree on the lighting at this museum and everything is packed in too tight.
I visited this museum last week. Despite poor lichting I really liked it. However, the Airborne museum in St Mère Eglise is much more interesting. That’s are real must see!
I was Gutted when we arrived at the Airborne museum they where closed.as it was at the end of our time in Normandy we never went back.i am hoping to return to the Area again in the near future and that Museum is on the top of the must see list.😁👍👍
i've been there! nice collection, there are loads of interesting dioramas, but the sound effects and the crowd ruined my experience. Anyway, absolutely fantastic videos!
You're complaining about the loud noise in the museum (which I agree) but the music in this video is also pretty annoyingly loud. Specially at the end.
You're complaining about the music I have to place in the video because of the load music (thats copyrighted) we are complaining about, but if I keep the background music the video will be shadowbanned, so then you could never have complained about the music.
Im also no a fan of the lighting found it to have problems taking pictures but at least I enjoyed it more because I couldn't take any good pictures so I stopped and just looked at everything they had.
Agreed, the poor lighting with overly loud war sounds is just a horrible idea as is the lack of information available. It was difficult to see the displays clearly and just feels like not worth the price of admission. I get what they tried to do with the diramas but it just fails. It looks as if the Mannequins dressed themselves too... Nope, never been, but I'd luv to one day but probably not going to happen for me....
Overlord looks over crowded. I understand that the curators wish to display as much as possible, but it's dark and dingy. It's a shame about the Saving Private Ryan soundtrack - I'd prefer a quieter experience, not a fairground ride. Maybe thats just me.
Less is so much more, and I also don't enjoy the fairground experience in museums, what I also hate is when museums force you to walk a path and you can't choose were you go yourself.
We need to be alone to visit any museum. In March 2015 I visited one more time many belgian and luxemburg ww2 museum. There were no more than 12 of us, and you're taking the time to see it all up close. Go in Normandy after september just before closing for the winter.
Mike Stanmore ......could not agree more !....... I visited November 2019 , after driving from Munich , Germany after flying from Australia , and without trying to criticise too much..... it was very jammed and displays over top of each other , was very hard to get a good view of anything in it .......the Bayeux museum was much more organised and more friendly to go through .

I dont mind the lighting really and the museum itself is superb

That´s true. Everything looks crammed full of parts, mannequins, equipment and so on. More information on the exhibits is vital.
I agree with the comments about the lighting - Why not use large LED's overhead for a more natural top light ? They do not get hot and will better present the dioramas with more realism.
Exciting! It's history that you can touch through the years. I'd like to see it my own eyes

You're welcome and I would highly recommend you visit this museum.

Thank you for the comment, and if you didn't enjoy the themepark experience from this museum you will hate the D-Day experience it's not really good.

Wow crawdads museum too nice video 👍👏🏾👏🏾

Mooi museum 2 jaar geleden geweest . Is lekker vol gebouwd 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Vond ook de jeep op het eind wel grappig.
De jeep die aan de muur hangt ?, die was weg de laatste keer dat ik er was.
Panzer Picture ja die oude die helemaal opgebruikt was. .
What do you Think about Tiger 1 Camo on the back shirt !!!!!!!! Would be Awesome
looks awesome !!!!!
i've been there! nice collection, there are loads of interesting dioramas, but the sound effects and the crowd ruined my experience. Anyway, absolutely fantastic videos!
Thank you for the comment and indeed when it's crowded the sound doesn't stop, probably because of the motion sensor.

Wow what crowd museum with nice and clearly explaining ...with horrible voices of war victims ( soilders) 👍👏👏👏🏽👏🏽
Im also no a fan of the lighting found it to have problems taking pictures but at least I enjoyed it more because I couldn't take any good pictures so I stopped and just looked at everything they had.
That's also a great thing and the most important thing is to enjoy your visit.
展示物が偏っていなくて、しかも再現性が高いようなので、見てみたいです。ただ展示しているだけじゃないところが良いです。
Looks like my room organized chaos.
LOL
Best ww2 museum 😎
Indeed one of the best. I think I have it on top 3 best museums in Normandy.

I think that the Airborne museum does a really great job in lighting, because it's dark but it's not you can't see things in full detail.
It's what we in Canada call a flea market of ww2

👍
I'm not a fan of the kind of messy exhibit, it always feels a bit like I'm entering into a children's room.
Less is more.
War is messy....
Been here it’s off yanky beach/ Omaha
What you don't even mention the fries gantry strabokran? the ultimate tank geeks find...shame on you!!
