I thought the broadcast crew was so unprofessional Sunday and they were clearly unable to keep their personal opinions separate. It interfered with what needs to be a professional broadcast. Took away from what was overall an incredible final day.

This podcast has been pretty unprofessional in their treatment of LIV as well. To see them pretend otherwise now is a bit comical.

Finally, someone mentioned Bryson's drive on 18 hitting the volunteer. Good catch Colt. I saw it too. All the announcers were saying how lucky lies he was getting in the native area but hitting that volunteer was really unlucky at the worst possible time. His ball would have definitely run up against the TIO and he would gotten a drop.

I have been a golfer and golf fan since the 1960's. BTW - I was paired with Brandel in his first ever competiive event in Highschool. My envy - his dad was following him where my Dad was never able to take off work to watch me play

I think Bryson explained it once. The courses they play in LIV aren't always made for pros so the greens aren't consistent. And a lot of courses are shorter but not drivable. And they have less time to prepare. They don't get as much access to the courses compared to majors. It is getting better though. He did win twice last year, didn't he?

Bryson said he has a tool that can check the contour of the face of his driver. He said after so many impacts it just flattened the face slightly he has to use a tool to check the face.

I saw the exact same angle on Rory's putt on 18 and said the same thing, that he seemed to come up and hit the ball higher than normal, which will slow it and turn it right on a slope. He's hit putts better than that.

    • @gargould7186

You still have to keep in mind that Bryson still has to play the final hole yet because he had already teed off, so then how are you going to play your put ? More aggressive because if you miss a downhill putt on that green you’ll be 8-10 feet past the hole. But the putt that he missed on I believe was #16 was a much easier putt that he misses and dropped out of the lead. He will having nightmares about this forever. Remember the 1999 British Open? When the guy loses a 3 stroke lead on the final hole. I think his name was Van de Velde

I like the "natural areas"... When you have the ultra thick rough, it's a virtual one shot penalty which is far too penal and promotes very boring golf... The natural areas definitely could be a penalty but at least it promoted skill and shotmaking that the extreme rough negates...

You must have watched a different event because Bryson’s stats on the US Open site show him hitting 5 of 14 fairways and hitting 11 of 18 greens in regulation. One of the greens he didn’t hut in regulation was the Par 3 6th hole. So, there were 6 non/par 3’s that Bryson didn’t hit in regulation, while he missed 9 of 14 fairways, which means he hit 3 greens in regulation on holes his drives missed the fairway.

Colt is correct about the wiregrass. It was a joke. The balls would almost never go in it. They would bounce off the bigger wiregrass and roll to a clean spot. It was just wrong.

You should see who runs the OWGR. The Majors want LIV dead, too. But they want the draw of the big names until they can kill it. Don't think for a second that the PGA Tour is working alone.

Colt needs to stop mailing it in on the paid promos. Kind of unfair to just read it out from a sheet of paper with no emotion, and no attempt to make it sound real. Put some effort into it, or don't do it. You can try to make it appear like you actually mean it.....that is the whole point.

Bryson's bunker shot on 18 was way easier than people think, but he executed the shot with such confidence and strength that it is still one of the all-time shots. It wasn't an easy shot, but it certainly was not that tough of a shot if all you are doing is trying to give yourself a 20 footer for all the money. What Bryson did, and the way he went about it, makes it one of the greatest shots ever, because there were all kinds of ways to play a weak shot. He played it perfectly.

@@LegolasFan69 Whatever. Johnson Wagner hit it to a foot in the dark. If it was truly a hard shot, like a touch bunker shot short-sided, then that would be different. This shot was right up the hill, with a guaranteed bounced forward, and also being helped by the upslope. He could not have played a more perfect shot, but if Bryson played that shot over and over he gets it within 10 feet over 50 percent of the time. It wasn't one of the miracle shots.
