      This is really not a horror movie or movies because it's a two parter. But Death Note 2006 (first part) an Death Note 2 the last name 2006 ( the second part) . Basic background if you didn't know it started as a manga then it became a anime then those live action version. All of them are different from one another in some way but they stay true to the source material. Wich is similar in a way to the movie Law Abiding Citizen. Basically each version just changes some events an how they happen. You will need to look up Death Note 2006 an Death Note 2 the last name 2006. That why it will take you to the right ones.
      But seriously stay away from the US Netflix version of Death Note. Because it completely ignores the Source material an it alters it in all the worst ways possible. Think of it like this take the one guy that was planning an doing all the brilliant planning in. The movie Law Abiding Citizen then turn him into a idiot with the mental maturity of a toddler.
      Because that's what the Netflix version of Death Note does to the characters. From the source material so instead of a big 4d chess game like in the source material. You get idiot toddlers in the US Netflix version of Death Note.

    korean audience had highly acclaimed especially the acting of the final scene where you couldn't tell if he's laughing or crying from insane internal conflict but lee byung hun recently responded to a question regarding it on a tv show after many years that that actually wasn't his intention lol
    he's considered one of the best actors in korean cinema and all his films are exceptional.
    here are some of Lee Byung-hun’s masterpieces:
    2000: Joint Security Area (directed by Park Chan-wook)
    2001: Bungee Jumping of Their Own (directed by Kim Dae-seung)
    2005: A Bittersweet Life (directed by Kim Jee-woon)
    2008: The Good, the Bad, the Weird (directed by Kim Jee-woon)
    2010: I Saw the Devil (directed by Kim Jee-woon)
    2015: Inside Men (directed by Woo Min-ho)
    2017: The Fortress (directed by Hwang Dong-hyuk)

    2020: The Man Standing Next (directed by Woo Min-ho)

      @@CocktailFlicks This is late but the point of the ending is that he realised that he could never inflict enough pain on the villain, never enough for him to feel the pain he did. not only was the villain absolutely fearless, but once the villain died that would be the end of his suffering. The ONLY way (in his mind) that he could inflict the kind of pain he was feeling, was to do to his family what was done to him, to see their loved ones head roll in front of them. When I was a uni student I wrote an essay on how South Korean revenge movies very often blur the lines between villain and hero. They do that with this (the hero became the devil, you felt sorry for the villains family), they do it with JSA: Joint Security Area (fantastic whodunnit between North and South Korean soldiers starring Lee Byung-hun, Park Chan-wook's finest work IMO), they do it will Oldboy (our hero is actually a bad person, father, a drunk, you do feel some sympathy for the villain towards the end), they do it with Taegukgi (a South Korean soldier joins the Northern army because he thinks the Southern army caused the death of his brother), you see it with Parasite (who is the parasite?). They even did that with Forgotten (I won't say anything about this one because it would give away a lot if you haven't watched it and you SHOULD). In my essay I wrote how we have always seen North Korea as villains but to South Korea, they're brothers, they're families still separated, they have a lot of sympathy for the Northern people and that bleeds into Korean cinema. It's a very interesting subject that is quite unique to South Korean revenge movies.

      @@CocktailFlicks I missed 71: Into The Fire from this which was a hugely prominent movie in my essay that I highly recommend. It's the true story of 71 untrained teenage students who fought off a whole brigade of the North Korean army entirely on their own and played a huge part in changing the Korean war.
      For me, as someone who has studied Korean history and language at university, JSA: Joint Security Area and 71: Into The Fire are two of the best Korean movies. JSA is my personal favourite movie ever beating Oldboy and Shawshank by a tiny bit. 71: Into the Fire (not the be confused with the war movie "71") is great for a true story and as a war movie. I also highly recommend The Classic for the best romance you'll ever watch, from the iconic scenes to the soundtrack it's just perfect (the same actress plays mother and daughter in different time periods/stories and she is phenomenal) and also Taegukgi: Brotherhood of War for the most heart wrenching, brutal watch of your life. I also recommend Forgotten (2017) because it's just a stupidly fun thriller that I would kill for you to react to.

  • @NoelleMar

    Good reaction! Agree about how everyone got traumatized and the guy who should know better became obsessed at the expense of everyone including himself. The villain was horribly animalistic and evil, but that’s how humans can be. People think it’s unrealistic or exaggerated, when fiction often tones it down.
    And I’m glad you pointed out how the protagonist let these women get traumatized and assaulted because he appeared to be so myopically focused on this task of enacting precise revenge. Based on how terse but “polite” he was with bystanders, the protagonist might have simply called the police or left money or a phone or something for the victims after.
    What we DID see was the nurse. He told her to close her eyes and block her ears, so she wouldn’t hear him giving a horrific injury. But he also told her to *stay* and patch him up. So either she or the older man were asked to medically treat the man who assaulted her! It’s possible they found it vaguely gratifying, seeing him directly punished and then at their mercy. But it’s a pretty messed up ask! To tell someone to help their attacker!

    i was one of the ones who recommended the movie and said to expect EXTREME brutality, wish that comment had stuck as you say you didn't expect this kind of gruesomeness (which i guess is still an understatement of a word describing this movie) and seem to be reeling a little post-veiwing...
    anyways, the woman on the table to be cut up as the cannibal's next meal IS the owner of the house, there was some loose translation in regards to their situation so you probably didn't get this but from one of the lines in original Korean, you can gather the cannibal & his wife showed up at the house asking if they can stay / rest for a few days and when the owner said no, that ticked the cannibal off which led to the cannibal couple taking over the house & the owner / her family ending up as meat for his meals (maybe that could've been his plan all along whether the owner said yes or no but it sound like being told no is what got to him from what he said).

      I do remember you recommending that. I'm sorry I forgot that it was gruesome, but we still would not have been ready for this kind of movie. There was so much more to it, and the killer himself was more extra than we were anticipating. Thanks for confirming who the woman was. That is such a horrible reality for her and her family. To think all it took was being rejected a place to stay for the night. We haven't heard from you in some time, I hope you are well. We will try to keep good Korean content flowing on the channel. I hope we hear from you again soon!

  • @83shadow3
    @83shadow3 Рік тому +5

    How do I put it There is definitely a art from to revenge. In this movie the one guy did it all wrong. Because lets just say movies an TV shows about revenge are my favorite to watch. This guy did it all wrong if it's only one person you're after. If you find them an get them you make sure they never escape an you can take your time. That way you get your revenge an no one else gets hurt by that person. That's how you get revenge on one single person. Then if there is multiple people you go through them like in the movie Law Abiding Citizen. Because they are all easy to get to separately but if they are apart of a group that all worked together. You have to slowly take them out strategically one by one till you get to the main person. Leaving them with no one to help them.
    Now the movie The Barber 2001 staring Malcolm McDowell. Will halp you understand how a psychopath thinks for the most part.
    Now for another movie about revenge done the right way. The movie The Final 2010 it takes place on Halloween so it would. Be a good movie to watch in October an its true revenge. Because for some things death is not really a fitting punishment.
    Also I recently got the Shout/Scream Factory version of the Directors Cut of Clive Barkers Nightbreed. I learned from that right away if you really like a movie if you have the DVD of it then. If a directors cut or unrated versions or a alternate version of that movie comes out. Because there is so many different names for basically the directors cut of the movie. It's worth upgrading to the directors cut version. Because put it this way before the movie even starts playing. It has Clive Barker an the person responsible for the Directors cut. Talking about how the movie studio interfered an majorly FT up the movie Nightbreed for the theatrical release version of the movie.
    I mean they didn't like the story that Clive Barker was telling. So they cut scenes out then filmed new scenes. Then put the new scenes in to make the movie tell a hole new story. According to the movie studios agenda even though it completely went against Clive Barkers story he was telling in the movie. I'm not kidding on every single bonus feature every single person that worked on the movie. On screen and behind the scenes all said the same thing. That when they seen the movie when the movie studio was done altering it an they released it. When they where watching it they where like what am I watching this is not the movie that. Was in the script or screenplay an this movie is not the movie we made.
    So if that's not a good reason to upgrade movies you like to. Things like Directors cuts I don't now what is because after that I like the original Robocop movie I upgraded to the Directors Cut of that movie. Thats going to take a while to get through those bonus features. Let's just say to start with their is 3 audio commentaries on top of just the movie then there is all the other bonus features after that. But after seeing an hearing how far movie studios go to alter movies. Without the writers an directors consent I want to find out. More about some of these movies that needed these Directors cuts to come out in the first place. Because if a movie is released that being the theatrical version. Then years later someone finally makes a Directors Cut of that movie. I am really curious to what the movie studios seen as problematic.
    Because so far from what I am seeing an hearing from these Directors cuts. The movie studios are removing stupid stuff for no real reason. I mean non spoiler for people that have not seen the original 1987 Robocop movie. But on the first audio commentary with the director an one of the writers an the movies producer. They talked about how the movie studio was forced to keep the most important scene in the movie. Even though it was extremely violent an turteris. Because it was absolutely crucial to keep in the movie. So these Directors cuts show that movie studios where majorly FN up movies for along time.
    This also shows that all movies even newer ones made today. That it may have been completely altered from the writers an directors original version of their story. By the movie studios without their consent wich is extremely stupid because the movie studios. See these scripts or screenplays then they approved them as is. Then they go an alter them because they don't like them. That makes no sense if you don't like a script or screenplay then you don't approve it in the first place. Problem solved no need to spend money on something then spend more money to alter it.

    • @CocktailFlicks
      @CocktailFlicks  Рік тому +1

      I hate it when movie studios do that. They don't like the story themselves, and make changes right before it goes to theatres, and then decide to make changes without telling the Director who was trying to tell a specific story. I liked Nightbreed just because it was Clive Barker movie, but then this nonsense happens. I don't know how long studios have been messing with the Directors stories, but it is not a recipe for continued success, especially if Writers and Directors ever get fed up and stop working with these major studios all together. It's one thing to have a strike over AI, but if they start leaving because all their hard work was for nothing, that is something that is hard to reconcile for the studio. Thanks for the recommendations, I will check them out, and see where I can fit them in. Sorry for the delayed response, it is getting harder to respond in time especially with a lot of new videos each week. I will keep trying to do better.
