  • As part of RiverLife: Almond & Avon, a partnership project between the River Forth Fisheries Trust, West Lothian Council, SEPA & Scottish Government Kirkton weir was improved for migratory fish such as salmon, sea trout and brown trout.
This video shows the opening of the fish pass as the water travels over the baffles for the first time

Good to see that your work will help migratory fish, and who knows maybe a spring salmon.
Looks like you've had a recent spate...
PS commentator asking why is the river muddy..
Heavy winter rain and even snow melt causes that.
(We call it a Bourach in parts of Scotland)
Best endeavours with your work,..from a salmon and trout angler🐝💚

Water is dirty because the river is in flood.. the water will only trinkle down the pass in summer months

My thought too. Not much current on either side of the ladder.

That’s nothing! Have a look at the River Bandon fish pass. Why so big, you might ask? That’s what everyone is trying to figure out.
