It’s a mix. Scott is an ass yes but Ramona is also a selfish prick. They both could have prevented all of this if Ramona didn’t run away from her problems and if Scott wasn’t such a hot head and jumped to outrageous conclusions. I'm feeling out an allegory for self-harm or an extreme depiction of literal self-destruction, but I don't know how to put it eloquently. But I do enjoy how Scott is passionately fighting for control of his life, recognizing his mistakes and in turn, learning what it's like to not learn from them. There's never a better teacher than knowing how badly you can fuck yourself up.
Just like in the movie… not really no but like In the movie, Scott’s final boss is supposed to be the direct opposite of himself, “Nega Scott,” but rather than getting an epic fight scene, it just turns out that Nega Scott’s actually a decent guy lol

In the comics, the catharsis for Scott and Ramona comes from both of them acknowledging their issues. And that's it. So if they never learned to how to DEAL and control themselves, it would happen all over again.

And since Scott doesnt grow, Ramona doesnt either. Theyre the same people they were when they first met in this future. The third (maybe fourth if you count the film) set of Scott and Ramona do learn and change though, Ramona defeats the league through facing up to her own shitty behaviour and making amends with some of the exes (Lucas and Roxy mostly) and Scott can skip the nega-scott fight because he has to deal with two versions of his future self that are actually worse than Nega was.
I personally like to take it as yet another sign that Scott's willing to learn from the mistakes of his future self and is like "Yeah, no. Older version of my crush has a point."

Which is why she says that she chooses herself and own up to her mistakes. Then young Scott sees how badly his obsessions will leave him so he gets some internal growth as well. So their chances of actually staying together happy increase. Both of them saw their red flags and choose to work on it

That's what I'm saying. It made it feel like both of them never grew or followed through on what they promised at the end of Vol 6. That falls in line of a trope most modern reworking do to franchises: character assassination. They could have used this quarrel between the 2 future selves during Scott's journey to defeat Ramonas evil exes as motivation to stay committed and prove them wrong.
It will break your heart to realize this, but even if Scott old kidnapped him, spiked his drink, and fought him. Our Scott won’t give up on loving Ramona because they were both meant for each other. Remember, our boy is 16 in this iteration. He is 21 years away from old Scott. And even if he got kiss blocked, he loves Ramona so much. Despite his childish flaws, he still made Future Scott because he’s meant for her. If he never fought back, that future wouldn’t be back for an encore to destroy our boy.

so, to summarize the Scott and Ramona from the original Graphic novel scrapped ALL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and life lessons they learned throughout 6 books and somehow revert their scummy selves they were at the beggining of Scott Pilgrim's precious little life and ended divorced....wow, just wow, talk about major disrespect to the source material, I mean holy hell this makes the hopeful light novel ending into one of the most depressing ending ever, it's like having a story on a couple that finally got together after many hardships and ending it with "hey honey look we won tickets for the maiden voyage of the Titanic" we already know it will end on tragedy. I'm just going to go ahead and pretend this travesty of a show never existed, thank god I only read the sinopsis of each episode and didn't actually saw the thing, I can just keep the ending of both the movie and the graphic novel being as hopeful as it was intended.
@@clothbandit1973 even if that's the case, it's a "what if" after the events of the graphic novel, were both Scott and Ramona, already went through their issues, but this "what if" scenario just says they went straight back to zero, heck the fact the ramona in the anime went to look for scott doesn't makes much sense as it wasn't until way later on in the novels she care for him enough to even considered something like this, it really just feels this was just made to give Ramona a lot more protagonism just for the sake of it, sacrificing scott and the novel versions of the characters in the process.

so, to summarize the Scott and Ramona from the original Graphic novel scrapped ALL CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT and life lessons they learned throughout 6 books and somehow revert their scummy selves they were at the beggining of Scott Pilgrim's precious little life and ended divorced....wow, just wow, talk about major disrespect to the source material, I mean holy hell this makes the hopeful light novel ending into one of the most depressing ending ever, it's like having a story on a couple that finally got together after many hardships and ending it with "hey honey look we won tickets for the maiden voyage of the Titanic" we already know it will end on tragedy.
I'm just going to go ahead and pretend this travesty of a show never existed, thank god I only read the sinopsis of each episode and didn't actually saw the thing, I can just keep the ending of both the movie and the graphic novel being as hopeful as it was intended.
It's a what if that the even lee himself intended because this is what if there's future conflicts
@@clothbandit1973 even if that's the case, it's a "what if" after the events of the graphic novel, were both Scott and Ramona, already went through their issues, but this "what if" scenario just says they went straight back to zero, heck the fact the ramona in the anime went to look for scott doesn't makes much sense as it wasn't until way later on in the novels she care for him enough to even considered something like this, it really just feels this was just made to give Ramona a lot more protagonism just for the sake of it, sacrificing scott and the novel versions of the characters in the process.
@@omarreyes7626 well two good things that come out is that we get to see more of the villains backstory and as well some good fight scene and second we kinda also what kind of scenario where Scott isn't the protagonist of this weird outcome I understand you don't like it and I can see it to but to me I'm glad this was to case if I can learn more of the other characters more
