Been using that same lanyard set up since the mid 1970s ... it was how we used the lanyards on our MP sticks in the army. Figured if it worked there, it would work on a knife. Yep, works just great!
Just ordered the tkc OD kydex sheath 3 days ago. Getting it today. Excited for the upgrade. Esee 6 goes everywhere with me in the woods. Great video as always
TKC is Awesome! I ordered some Mil Speck Camo G10 scales for my BK9 from them. I also ordered a custom OD green Kydex sheath with leather backer for my black Esee 6 with OD Green canvas micarta scales. I also just recently ordered an Esee Junglas from them for about $20 less than just about anywhere else. I’ll be ordering an Esee 5 from them soon. Great products, excellent customer service, and super fast shipping. Great video Gideon! When looking for knife reviews, I always look for your videos first. Keep up the great work bud!
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I'm impressed. I have enjoyed your reviews and would like to see more camping and practical use in the field. Keep up the good work.
This video is awesome. I actually ordered a knife because of this video. I also paid less than what other websites charge for the esse6 and i will get (still being shipped) the knife the way i want it instead of whatever the store was selling.
Great video & concept! I have an ESEE-5 (w/ a Tek-Lok on the Kydex) & my Buddy has a 6, both with Micarta scales. They're both awesome knives. My Spyderco Bushcraft UK has G-10 scales and I love it as well.
Say Heah Aaron, Everytime I see a Essee 6 video it reminds me of my Modified Rodent 6. I love that Knife. Infact it's one of my ALL Time Fav's. I like teaming it with my Mora 510 as my Neck Knife. I also like a Hatchet and Saw. I like doing solo overnighter's. I trust this set with my life.,,. p
changing the handle is a huge upgrade to that knife.....never been an esee fan, mostly because of the handles...I could get into one with a handle like those...
I decided on the Kabar Jarosz TUROK over the Esee 6, haven’t looked back. I purchased the Junglas over the RTAC II. All are excellent knives. Purpose + preference should be your determining factors in purchasing a knife.
hey Gideon, I live in Canada and i have looked everywhere for a Dark Timber knife and can't find them anywhere. Do you know where I would be able to find them in canada. It would be nice if dark timber made his knives more accessable for the people noth of the border.
I think the HM treatment of the ESEE 6 is going to be amazing. I love my 6 with TKC scales but adding some nice thickness and contouring to the micarta and hopefully ditching the choil like they did with the 3HM and 4HM should be amazing.
Thanks for this video! Was about to order an Esee 6 from Bladehq but this place was a better deal and now it's custom! Had to go with the blue g10 scales!
and by the way, place the not half way,its keeps the knot from between your thumb and handle, to keep the knot in place tie one either side of lanyard hole, or place knot half way before threading, if its not fixed on all the time. Cheers
Awesome video. They were sold out of the Kydex o wanted so I bought the Esee and bought the g10 earth camo scales and I'm waiting for the Kydex. Fire steel attachment as well
I bought the sheath and scales for my Esee 6 based on this video. I like the look of the package and the sheath is a big improvement over the Esee sheath. The G10 scales are easy to grip, but change the balance of the knife, due to them being a bit heavier than the Micarta scales. Overall, great recommendation.
Hey there, loved the video. I am curious what color g10 scales the distinguished gentleman was rocking with the chocolate brown sheath? Are they the black and red ones? They look brown from the video but TKC doesn't have that as an available option. Thanks so much!
awesome vid Aaron, you have definitely inspired me to give this a go! just ordered a esee 6 custom, was good fun choosing a set up. Also great to be able to get a kydex sheathe with the sliding lock like on the laser strike.Would really like to see a Junglas vs Parangatang video or just a decent Parangatang review
Great video Aaron, boys and their toys, good to see the ESEE being used and not sitting in a cabinet. Love the custom ideas on the Knife Builder site, the scales look amazing, but sadly, still no left handed options on the sheath, which is a real pity.
As always, fun video to watch. I'll check out the custom build, though I had Bill at Red Feather customs trick out the sheath for my bk7, so I'm in a good place with my mid-sized knife.
I've been on the fence about the ESEE 6 for a while now, mostly because of how flat the scales were. But now that it's really easy to customize it for under $200, I'm gonna have to move it up higher on my list!
I wish OKC would make a Rat-6 with the knife connection option. I would be all over it. I really like a 5 inch blade. I like the pummel of the Esse 6 and I wish the Esse 5 was a mirror image of it. Love the handle and sheath upgrade from Connection.
Great video, it sold me on the knife and the modifications. However, I couldn't get rid of it fast enough after making the effort to make this OK knife, great. The aftermarket scales ruined the balance of the knife and ESEE's steel required more sharpening than other similar knives in 1095 and 5160. Rather than spending the money for modification on the ESEE 6, I would have been better of buying a better knife from the start.
Okay, you guys got me. I couldn't resist. Followed the link, built my own ESEE 6, hit checkout, and bought it! I literally never fall for any sort of UA-cam promotions. But I've wanted a knife like the ESEE 6 for awhile now. Main thing that bothered me was the sheath. The ESEE 5 gets kydex but the 6 gets plastic that rattles a bit? Never understood that. Plus, I HATE buying an item from one site, then having to go to a separate one to buy a better sheath or any accessories I might want for the item. Thanks to you guys, I found everything in one place. Plus got some sweet-looking G10 custom scales for my ESEE 6. Now the waiting begins..... This video is very popular. I found many of the options on their site to be completely sold out. Thankfully there are still enough on there that I put my ESEE 6 together the way I mostly wanted. The plain-edged non-clipped blade option wasn't available. I don't mind the partially serrated blade option that was. And, in case you guys get me again, I decided to make it easier next time by subscribing to your channel. Thanks guys. (My wallet hates you.)
NGMonocrom I had the same problem and Gideon fixed info fixed that. I have been looking at the esee 6, but wanted a better sheath and fire steel holder. going through the sight I got all that plus the g-10 handles!
Do you consider the First Edge 5050 as top of the line survival knife? I'm dying to pull the trigger on amazon to get it. My priority is rust resistance since I live on the coast in the Philippines
UPDATE: Okay, not trying to cause any controversy. But after getting a custom ESEE 6 from TKC's build your own knife sub-section on their website, I was disappointed with one thing. I got the knife in separate components. The bare blade in one large baggie. The custom scales, screws, mini-torx wrenches together in another baggie. And the custom kydex sheath in another one. I get it.... if you order custom scales for an ESEE you already own, you'll just get the scales in the mail. But when you order EVERYTHING at once from that sub-section, yeah; they should put the scales onto the bare blade for you. Otherwise, very happy with what I got in terms of the construction of the custom kydex sheath, and the construction of the custom scales.
gideonstactical Just seemed a bit misleading, that's all. Reminded me of a special keychain carry clip I bought years back. All of its advertising showed a small clip, with a tiny micro split-ring for it; attached. Ordered the item. It wasn't attached. No instructions on how to do it. I found that a rather dangerous method of opening the ring with a thin knife blade was the only way to attach it. Had an opportunity through a good friend to speak with the President of the company online. Simply wanted to express my concerns. I was polite. I found him pompous, arrogant, snoobish, and just a disgusting joke of a human-being, overall. I did however notice though that after I pointed out a few things to him, he changed the print ads. to show the clip separate from the micro split-ring. Not comparing the guys at TKC to him. He intentionally didn't care about screwing over customers. (Rather obvious at the end of the online conversation.) But this experience reminded me of that very negative one. Can't dispute the fact that the custom items from TKC are simply excellent. They have other great stuff on their website. And I will be ordering from them again, despite the misunderstanding.
No clue what you're talking about Mr. Green. I will say that since that first order, I've placed two or three more. My wallet hates me, and I think it put Aaron on its poop list. But I can whole-heartedly recommend TKC. Honestly, one of the best online shops I've ever dealt with. And I order WAY too much stuff online from too many sites. TKC is a place where anyone can buy with confidence. My earlier comments above make me look silly. Which is why I'm leaving them up there. So yeah, buy some cool stuff from TKC. Great place to spend your money. Dale is a good guy, and deserves to succeed.
Excellent video my friend,i think you have a great idea their to compare six different knives. Now a question,i have very big hands triple X gloves and I need a big handle on my knives would you recommend the Esee 6 for that reason.Stay safe👍
I would like some input on this. I am thinking about pulling the trigger on this custom ESEE 6. I am looking at getting a great all around midsize bush craft knife. Should I go with the ESEE 6 or the Tops Silent Hero? And if I go with the ESEE 6 is there any discount codes anyone has for the knife connection?
Say Heah Aaron, No doubt the after market will improve the Essee 6, But I'm still stoking over one of my Fav's my beloved Modde Rodent 6, I had it thinned down and the top gaurd taken off and now it look's like a Ratmandu on steroids, I saw the destruction video on UA-cam in the Fallkniven A-1 so I got it too, Infact I bought it in pristine condition from a guy on UA-cam, The only thing was the belt loop was tearing a little, So I contacted Fallkniven and they sent me a brand new one at no charge. Infact the C. E. O. Peter did that, So I also have the Northern Lights Njord another beauty and as tough but it's eye candy a piece of art. I also enjoy my S. R. K. in the CarbonV as well as well as my Benchmade CKS #156 similar to the S. R. K. but in D2 then my Road and my Bokor 2011 Collection and a few just shy of 6" that I really love like my Battle Horse Attitude that I modified, If Essee would start using the CroVan version of the 1095 I know I would buy them, As it stands and it's my opinion, The 1095 they use is been recycled and I don't want that. "Give me CroVan or give me death" heh heh heh
It's good to see CLEAN gloves get dirty... sorry haha had to!!! Seriously though, cool video!! Same knife. Same project... would like to see more videos like that. Vs the "only perfect" way of doing something... esee6 is a knife I ALWAYS recommend to people wanting a do all knife
Dont get me wrong, I love my ESEE 6, but I dont get the massive fan base. The BK 7 is just as awsome in my opinnion. While the 6 is better for fine tasks, the 7 is better for larger (chopping and batoning) in my opinnion. They both do all tasks ok. I find them both to stay sharp for about the same amount of time, but I do find BK to be easier to sharpen and to take a finer edge.
It comes done to the whole package. I agreed the knives are close is size and performance and if the BK7 came with Micarta and a kydex or plastic sheath it would be an epic battle between the two out of box. That is the deference. The esee6 has better option out the box.
iv'e got one i may have to buy another one because it's way to pretty to get scuffed up best looking knife iv'e ever bought oh its 2020 mine came like yours
A very good idea using the lanyard to secure the knife Gideon. On can always learn something knew. I lanyard helps a lot in many situations. When I was in Special Forces in the US Army lanyards helped a lot. I looped knives around my belt and then in the sheath. This was a back-up in very rugged jungle terrain in case the knife came out of the sheath, it still was secure and would not get lost. Also as a Static Static Line Jump Safety, I has a lanyard to go around my wrist to avoid losing my knife if I had to cut the static line of a "Towed Jumper". Great video Gideon. Thanks.
Hey guys. Firstly I've gotta say I really love your clips. I've learned so much about the various blades and gear in general. Great work. Now I'm keen for a decent fixed blade for use in the bush, but it will also be used on my small yacht (when I finally get it finished and back in the water). When on the boat I'm thinking about singing it somehow on an inflatable life vest, so I guess I don't want something too big/awkward (but I still want something that will be a dependable tool). A grippy handle will also be important. I've been gravitating toward the Fallkniven S1/A1, but you've really got me thinking about the ESEE6 now. So what do you reckon? What avenue would you suggest?
I am not sure if this is a decent value. I priced the package and it came up to $239.00. I recently bought a Bark River Bravo Survivor for $214.00 and it came with a sheath with a fire steel loop on it. If I bought a Light My Fire fire starter for @ $30.00, I would end up with a knife with better steel, build quality, design...for $5.00 more.
Not sure what options you picked, I paid $198 out the door with the fire steel loop, for that price or close to it you can get a knife that has a better steel for sure. Not a "screaming" deal or anything. It is a very cool, very high performing option, that you can customize yourself. Nothing more nothing less.
The difference in the price was most likely the sheath option, which has a pretty big range in pricing. That said, for $200 you can get into some higher quality production knives that include sheaths and great materials. Not saying the ESEE 6 is not a good knife, but I don't see the value in being able to select grips and adding a decent sheath.
That is no doubt a really good looking functional knife for middle use. However the price point is simply too high for me. I have yet to buy any knife that cost over 100$. The most I spent on a tool is the wetterlings axe for 120$ which I regret. I bought a plum hatchet head for 5$ and put a 2$ handle on it and it functions much better. It feels so much better in the hand and it has history. So, anyway, I find it hard to spend a lot of money on knives. The mora simply has not let me down yet. For a middle knife I use the GI Tanto and it has worked great thus far. In woodland area like that I would prefer to carry a mora and a hatchet. I paid under 20$ for my set up. Thanks for reviewing the knife I enjoyed the video.
Agreed, this is boys and their toys pure and simple. When it comes to using the right tool for the job my Condor Bushlore or Mora HQ would be way way easier than using that big clumsy knife to make that pot holder. No chopping needed just small cross batoning and presto plus the V notch wouldn't slip and cause your food or coffee to fall into the fire;)
+Airik1111 there was plenty wood there to make a tripod so you really don't need a knife at all. The wood they were chopping at could have easily kicked off so obviously they are just giving us a demonstration.
+qzetu true as we said, there are plenty of other ways to boil water, some wood was dry and some was rock hard and needed to be chopped and some was soft and easy to carve.
Thank you for your response sir; and for the video. Don't get me wrong. I would love a knife like that but price out weighs necessity. Everyone is different.
Other than showing off them knives and the users, this whole demonstration is a bit pointless. When I go into the woods, I never make anything on the spot to cook my food, I take it with me. Personally, I prefer a thin 1.5 meter steel cord with loops on each end, with 3-4 meters of nylon cord attached to each end. Plus two metal hooks. Weights almost nothing, can be hanged between any two trees, plus gives you a cord by the fire to dry your things. As of "suddenly" appearing in the woods and not having my magic cooking cord. Well, if you get lost in the woods unprepared, I doubt you would have your survival knife anyways, so you probably wouldn't happen to have a pot, nor any food to cook in it. And even if you do, you wouldn't be busy making nice pot hangers, you would look for a way out, back to civilization. So, once again, pointless job they've been doing. Just a showoff of the knife and their owners. But, the video overall is good.
Say Heah Aaron, Can you imagine a green blade and G-10orange handle, WoW that would be a great combo. But this size blade defenetly needs a choil, Don't be a E. B. He says he doesn't want to boo boo his finger, But seriously a choil was put on that way after they considered all the pro's and con's, I never ran out of blade because of a choil, Yet no doubt you can choke up much better for your fine work, I mean fine work and not pencil sharpening a piece of wood that your holding in front of you. But more like making a intricate trap especially in cold weather. But playing around with knives a few 24's, The only way to chop with a 6" blade better, You need to make the blade a little heavier. I'll let you figure out the rest. Yeah but for a good camp belt knife. That Essee 6 seems like a good one. I wouldn't mind having one.
Had a hard time recently deciding between the 6 and the laser strike, purchased the laser strike just about a week ago, love it so far; The only thing that bothers me is: It does bite into wood quite bad. So I´d like to ask you: Did you have to modify the edge angle to make the Laser a better cutter? And: What are YOUR reasons to like the laser strike over the the 6? Maybe you find the time to reply, would appreciate that.
+Wartstein I usually bring knife edges to a 15 degree each side of they are not there already. This video had all factory edges. The laser strike is ok, but I would take the esee6 over it, not the other way around so not sure I understand the question. It is a descent companion blade where as the Esee6 is a larger survival knife.
Thanks for the reply, interesting that you go down to 15 each side (even on bigger blades?) Actually my comment was meant to be for Derrick S Tran (see above) who said "love the Esee 6 but I´ve been always been a laser strike man"; so thats why you could not understand the question ;-)
Hey! That's Peter Kohler! Makes my dream knife! I'm going to order this setup for my 6 this week. I've been wanting to do these mods for a while.. I just ordered a chocolate brown sheath and the winter forest scales. This video was fantastic and sold me on these mods..
"Carrot?" Hahaha. I don't know if that was supposed to be funny, but I, for some reason, thought it was. I thought I had made my mind up about getting the Bk 10. But I don't know now. Because It'd be about the same price to get both customized the way I want it. But the Esee 6 can probably do more work. Hhmmm.... decisions decisions.
gideonstactical Yeah, but that's the thing, I'm looking for a woods blade. And it kills me knowing that I have the funds to buy my custom Esee, but I'm saving for something more important than a knife right now. Maybe next month or so. Thanks for getting me hooked on the 6.... again.
If you choose to get the MOLLE Loks as an accessory, will they mount them to the sheath for you? Just curious. I don't have the money right now to build/buy one, I was just playing around with it lol. Great video as always, Aaron!
Interested in your opinion on the Esse 2020 line and their 'new' G10 scales that look pretty much exactly like TKC scales. Esse is denying any attempt to copy TKC scales. They claim 'all hands are pretty much the same' and 'well, how many colors are there?' as their defense. Seems what they did is pretty obvious. Their refusal to acknowledge any influence is a little weird to me. I get what they are doing - but the denials are a little over the top IMO and has turned me totally off Esse. Perhaps a comparison review is in order?
@@gladeshunter8796 Probably since they blatantly ripped off their design. Esse's claim that 'everybody's hand is pretty much the same' is especially laughable since they have been selling their knife with flat scales forever. It is good that Esse finally realized their flat scale mistake. Took a while, then their response was to rip off an already available design. Defend that if you want. I see thru it.
LOL @Glades Hunter who is so blind he can't see Esse ripped off TKCs design and finally realized their flat scales suck. TKC was making Esse look bad. Then he blocked me. LOL what a chump! Esse looks even worse for denying any connection.
Why are you guys Wasting your blades like that will you can snap branches obviously you guys know nothing about survival and you would never do that to your blade you’d want to save your blade
Good video man, but I did a little figuring and came to another conclusion. The Knife Builder program isn't really a good deal. At least currently. Did the math and the price is exactly the same as if you'd bought all the items separately. Only difference being, your depriving yourself of your stock micarta scales & sheath and letting them keep them. lol. If the builder program saved you any money...it would make sense to me. But at least with ESEE knives, that doesn't seem to be the case. Makes more sense to buy everything separately off the site. Right?
Been using that same lanyard set up since the mid 1970s ... it was how we used the lanyards on our MP sticks in the army. Figured if it worked there, it would work on a knife. Yep, works just great!
Thanks so much for the lanyard hold that you showed just before 3 minutes in, that alone is worth the price of the time it takes to watch this video.
Most entertaining knife review I've ever watched! Love seeing it in action... Great video!
Awesome to hear that!
Just ordered the tkc OD kydex sheath 3 days ago. Getting it today. Excited for the upgrade. Esee 6 goes everywhere with me in the woods. Great video as always
Super cool, thanks for watching and enjoy the upgrade!
TKC is Awesome! I ordered some Mil Speck Camo G10 scales for my BK9 from them. I also ordered a custom OD green Kydex sheath with leather backer for my black Esee 6 with OD Green canvas micarta scales. Dale is the man at TKC! One sweet knife!
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I'm impressed. I have enjoyed your reviews and would like to see more camping and practical use in the field. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the support and for watching! We hope to do more videos like this!
I'd like to see a full review on an esee cm 6
This video is awesome. I actually ordered a knife because of this video. I also paid less than what other websites charge for the esse6 and i will get (still being shipped) the knife the way i want it instead of whatever the store was selling.
I love the blue handle scales
Love the ESEE 6. Does everything well.
Heck ya!
Got a set on my Esse 4 Green blank and handle scales
Great video & concept! I have an ESEE-5 (w/ a Tek-Lok on the Kydex) & my Buddy has a 6, both with Micarta scales. They're both awesome knives. My Spyderco Bushcraft UK has G-10 scales and I love it as well.
I also added the custom scales to my ESEE-6. Viva la Difference!
Great! would have been nice to see all lined up with a steady shot. Thanks!
Awesome video Aaron! Looks like you guys had a blast. The new setup for the ESEE 6 look great. Gonna definitely check them out.
Thanks brother, we did!
I'm a fan of that lanyard system as well. I think I came across it on Bladeforums. One of those "Why didn't I think about this 20 years ago!" things.
I trust this set with my life.,,. p
Loved this video Aaron.
changing the handle is a huge upgrade to that knife.....never been an esee fan, mostly because of the handles...I could get into one with a handle like those...
Now we are talkin!
ESEE6 is a great knife, always been a favorite of mine also.
Heck ya!
Did you epoxy the scales before using the bolts?
I decided on the Kabar Jarosz TUROK over the Esee 6, haven’t looked back. I purchased the Junglas over the RTAC II. All are excellent knives. Purpose + preference should be your determining factors in purchasing a knife.

Peter Kohler, YES!
Awesome video. They were sold out of the Kydex o wanted so I bought the Esee and bought the g10 earth camo scales and I'm waiting for the Kydex. Fire steel attachment as well
hey, you probably get asked this alot, but, where do you live / shoot these videos? it's beautiful.
Awesome stuff as always Aaron!
Thanks for watching!!
The lanyard system you liked comes from "lofty wiseman" former SAS ;)
I went on tkc knife builder but when I went to choose my sheath there weren't any camo patterns
maybe throw a rat-7 into the bk7 and esee 6 comparison a three way battle and the tek lok mod was awesome , great video by the way
Not a bad idea.
And a Laser Strike
Hello Gideon. What is your opinion of the TBS Grizzly Bushcraft knife? Also the BK-2 K-Bar? Thanks.
Love mine with the milspec Camo sales. Yo what up Peter Kohler ? You are the Man bro!
Remove the scales, break out the old Dremel, and relieve the insides a bit.
Hey there, loved the video. I am curious what color g10 scales the distinguished gentleman was rocking with the chocolate brown sheath? Are they the black and red ones? They look brown from the video but TKC doesn't have that as an available option. Thanks so much!
thx for the lesson and video.
Thanks for watching!
The esee 6 is on my wish list just out of my budget but hopefully some day
Nomad 6.5 vs. ESEE6?
That’s tough, I would say the Esee6 if humidity is not a concern but the Nomad if you are in high humidity. Or if you don’t prefer choils.
awesome vid Aaron, you have definitely inspired me to give this a go! just ordered a esee 6 custom, was good fun choosing a set up. Also great to be able to get a kydex sheathe with the sliding lock like on the laser strike.Would really like to see a Junglas vs Parangatang video or just a decent Parangatang review
Thanks for watching, hope you enjoy your new blade.
Great video Aaron, boys and their toys, good to see the ESEE being used and not sitting in a cabinet. Love the custom ideas on the Knife Builder site, the scales look amazing, but sadly, still no left handed options on the sheath, which is a real pity.
These sheaths both stock and the custom are totally ambidextrous.
Thanks for the heads up. Really appreciate it. I didn't realise that.
All you have to do it put the mount on the opposite side.
Thanks. Didn't realise it was so simple. Over analysis can be a killer !
Great video. Love your buddy's GNR shirt.
As always, fun video to watch. I'll check out the custom build, though I had Bill at Red Feather customs trick out the sheath for my bk7, so I'm in a good place with my mid-sized knife.
Best Video Ive seen on the Esee-6...
Great fun Aaron!
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it!
ka bar bk7 vs esee 6, that would be a great vid!
It is already in the works.
ah yes man!
I've been on the fence about the ESEE 6 for a while now, mostly because of how flat the scales were. But now that it's really easy to customize it for under $200, I'm gonna have to move it up higher on my list!
You will not be sorry!
Will these scales fit the Rat 7, I have both. I sanded down the Rat 7 scales and they feel much better.
No they will not, OKC will have a knife builder with TKC soon. Go to their site for a preview.
I wish OKC would make a Rat-6 with the knife connection option. I would be all over it. I really like a 5 inch blade. I like the pummel of the Esse 6 and I wish the Esse 5 was a mirror image of it. Love the handle and sheath upgrade from Connection.

Great looking forward to checking it out, but for me OKC needs to make a Rat-6 first.
The small water bottle loop required to be hung by paracord, which the fire heat might damage, but a boiling pot should not need paracord
Esee knives are nice. I can't afford them but they are nice. Keep up the great work. God Bless
Thanks bro!
I love the style of miller bros knifes do you know of something that looks that good but around $450?
Great video, it sold me on the knife and the modifications. However, I couldn't get rid of it fast enough after making the effort to make this OK knife, great. The aftermarket scales ruined the balance of the knife and ESEE's steel required more sharpening than other similar knives in 1095 and 5160. Must get me one.
NGMonocrom < I know EXACTLY how you feel!
Do They have any tanto blade esee6's????
Not at this point
Where did you get your firesteel striker Gideon?
amazon.com
GSO 5.1 or Esee 6. Which one do you reach for first?
EKA AxeBlade from Viking Sweden is still and will always be the King of Bushcraft/Survival.
Do you consider the First Edge 5050 as top of the line survival knife? I'm dying to pull the trigger on amazon to get it. My priority is rust resistance since I live on the coast in the Philippines
It is indestructible, but for my use I would take a Fallkniven A1 instead
Thanks man.
survive knives uses the same sheath maker.
all of my knives have micarta scales. can you explain some pros and coins of G10 please?
G-10 is fiberglass layers soaked in resin, Micarta is linen layers soaked in resin. Very similar, just preference really.
+shcmoly thank you
Micarta will absorb water, oils, blood, etc
G10 will not absorb anything
+ACs thank you
How does the ESEE6 compare to the Silent Hero for chopping and batoning?
Very similar, the silent hero by a nose because of its saber grind.
UPDATE:
Okay, not trying to cause any controversy.
Doesn't bother me at all. Takes 2min to assemble. Lifetime of awesomeness!

Just seemed a bit misleading, that's all.
I bought the same thing and got it in pieces. It was kinda cool to put my knife together, took less than two minutes.
please @gideonstactical what sunglasses are those?
Body glove aviators, Amazon $30
Excellent video my friend,i think you have a great idea their to compare six different knives. Now a question,i have very big hands triple X gloves and I need a big handle on my knives would you recommend the Esee 6 for that reason.Stay safe👍
what do you think of sog force? I know you made a video, but it's quite old
Still a good option for stainless steel in this price range.
gideonstactical thanks a lot, I would prefer a ss, as I the weather here is quite humid. Is it hard to field sharpen?
+Vlad Popovici its SS so it's not easy. Look at the Fallkniven A1 too, did the video recently. Double the price, but double the ability.
Those sure are some sweet bush craft knee pads
That’s just a great group of grown boys having laughs using great hard use tools
I support this behavior
Good stuff!
I think so, a couple of them were your recommendation, That's why I like your channel
The esee6 has better option out the box.
iv'e got one i may have to buy another one because it's way to pretty to get scuffed up best looking knife iv'e ever bought oh its 2020 mine came like yours
very, very nice!!!
I get deliveries from TKC to the UK faster than some British firms excellent service.
Thanks for watching, for the water esee6 will need a lot of rust work, I would say A1, watch my review on it.
Cool, thanks. That's what I thought might be the case. Keep up the good work. Cheers
All they need to do now is add a better coating with a 90 degree spine so I can strike a firesteel, and the ESSE 6 would be perfect.
Thats awesome you guys, and $136 for that knife is not bad either.
Heck ya!
i think i want one! Cant afford the custom shit. those are badass.
I am going to ha e to build one of the pot holders with my sxb for my channel
Nice!!
+gideonstactical are you still going to try to review the sxb
+Bailey Newman maybe at some point
I wouldn't mind having one.
ok, soooo where is the real use??
I love the ESEE6 but I've always been a laser strike man.
Totally get that.
Thanks for the reply, interesting that you go down to 15 each side (even on bigger blades?)
Actually my comment was meant to be for Derrick S Tran (see above) who said "love the Esee 6 but I´ve been always been a laser strike man"; so thats why you could not understand the question ;-)
Bk7 is a better knife in a lot of way, but that’s my subjective opinion! Thanks for the video.
Love this vidja!!!
Hey! That's Peter Kohler! Makes my dream knife! I'm going to order this setup for my 6 this week. I've been wanting to do these mods for a while..
I just ordered a chocolate brown sheath and the winter forest scales. This video was fantastic and sold me on these mods..
I SOOOOOO want to go camping with you dudes. I’m sure you got up the Johnny walker after this video!!!!
It is true, it can do more. BK10 is a good blade too. More tactical for sure
gideonstactical Yeah, but that's the thing, I'm looking for a woods blade. And it kills me knowing that I have the funds to buy my custom Esee, but I'm saving for something more important than a knife right now. Maybe next month or so. Thanks for getting me hooked on the 6.... again.
+Steve Smith no problem!!
If you choose to get the MOLLE Loks as an accessory, will they mount them to the sheath for you? Just curious. I don't have the money right now to build/buy one, I was just playing around with it lol.
Great video as always, Aaron!
I thought this option was like 5 yrs old ??!!??
The handles have been there, but not the sheath, or the hold knife builder portion of their site.
It turns a production knife into a semi custom personal blade... NICE !!!.... PAPA DUKES
Very nice
And I just built a blue one with a sick setup
@@gladeshunter8796 Superior in every aspect which you conveniently did not list because it is complete BS.
@@gladeshunter8796 What's even funnier is you getting mad over thinking I'm getting mad! 😂😂😂
Right?
cool:)
