I thought that was so bizarre & manipulative too. Someone who S/A me ended up having a cancer scare. I didn't have contact with them for 4 years at the time and it affected me deeply but I didn't get in contact with them to say anything. Though this person did hurt me we had a very long history with each other so it really shocked me to hear.

I think jojo needs to acknowledge that her mom and her joined KNOWING what the experience would be like. I sort of agree with her personally in that a teacher being blunt with me doesn't really bother me as much as it seems to bother other people. But her and her mom knew that is what they were signing up for. The other girls signed up for a dance documentary and then were trapped having to perform and work with a teacher that was yelling insults at them. Save for Melissa, I don't think the other moms would've joined the series if they knew what it would be like before hand. It's okay for Jojo to not be bothered by that style of teaching but not okay to not realize the different circumstances.

She came on the show later on so she knew what she was getting into, she left the show after 2 seasons to pursue another opportunity thus not having the full years long Abby experience like the OG girls did, because she dealt with Abby in her formative years she views people like Abby as normal thus normalizing the toxic people she associates with. Then talked about her behind her back on a podcast letting her other friend call Tana a bitch. If you look at all of her behavior over time and place it all together it makes a lot of sense that she would defend Abby.

The victim absolutely does not “usually” become an abuser. There is a cycle of abuse but that’s not the only reason people become abusive. Some people just only care about themselves and put what they want over harm to other people, not because they have trauma or mental illness, but because people are not made the same and have different world views that allow them to justify abuses others to themselves. People with trauma and mental illness are more likely to be abused than abusive.

the problem i have is that this was produced by the same people who caused some of the trauma these girls have. of course they probably couldn't speak freely and i wouldn't be surprised if it came out that abby orchestrated the whole reunion. and kalani and jojo being mad that they weren't invited to a party for a girl they either never met or barely know is so audacious and just shows how out of touch both of them are. what i did like was hearing how chloe has started healing from this and that she is so strong and confident now, she was always the reason i watched dance moms growing up. i like that the o.g. girls are still really close even after everything and seem to have a stronger bond than when the show first started. of course kalani and jojo aren't going to be included because they knew what they were getting into, they worked with abby on audc before joining the main show.
I don't think that Abby was involved, she was mad that they were using so many clips with her in it without her permission (shows how out of touch she is seeing as they own the footage, not her). A couple of the girls said that they wouldn't do the reunion if Abby was there and apparently the producers asked JoJo to facetime Abby during filming and JoJo refused (Abby was in the UK when this was filmed)

Jojo CAN NOT comprehend the fact that the girls came into it thinking they were just normal competitive dancers, got thrust on to a tv show, and had a teacher who got stricter and stricter for views/popularity for the show (as said in the video). Jojo came in having watched the show from home, dreaming of being on it. She got involved by being on a competition show ran by Abby. She came in knowing it only as a way to become famous and as a competitive thing- BEYOND regular children’s dance (which is intense enough without everything else). She just cannot understand that Abby and reign dance and the ALDC were simply the girls “home team” (even though many travelled bc the area became rough over time so most didn’t live near the studio like when it first opened by Abby’s mom). I know you talk about this all in the video but it’s just insane how she doesn’t realize that perspective. That she can’t understand that these girls were just girls that, yes, wanted intense dance training, but didn’t sign up for the purpose of working w crazy Abby and being on the show etc.
JoJo is an obnoxious mess that did not experience the trauma that some did. Abby was a monster to several of the girls, Nia and Chloe in particular were treated horribly. Over the seven years that this show was taping we saw Abby literally beat the joy of dancing out of Brooke, Paige, Chloe, Nia, Maddie and Mackenzie. JoJo was only there for two seasons and bounced before Abby could screw her up!

the problem i have is that this was produced by the same people who caused some of the trauma these girls have. of course they probably couldn't speak freely and i wouldn't be surprised if it came out that abby orchestrated the whole reunion. and kalani and jojo being mad that they weren't invited to a party for a girl they either never met or barely know is so audacious and just shows how out of touch both of them are. what i did like was hearing how chloe has started healing from this and that she is so strong and confident now, she was always the reason i watched dance moms growing up. i like that the o.g. girls are still really close even after everything and seem to have a stronger bond than when the show first started. of course kalani and jojo aren't going to be included because they knew what they were getting into, they worked with abby on audc before joining the main show.
I don't think that Abby was involved, she was mad that they were using so many clips with her in it without her permission (shows how out of touch she is seeing as they own the footage, not her). A couple of the girls said that they wouldn't do the reunion if Abby was there and apparently the producers asked JoJo to facetime Abby during filming and JoJo refused (Abby was in the UK when this was filmed)

Jojo CAN NOT comprehend the fact that the girls came into it thinking they were just normal competitive dancers, got thrust on to a tv show, and had a teacher who got stricter and stricter for views/popularity for the show (as said in the video). Jojo came in having watched the show from home, dreaming of being on it. She got involved by being on a competition show ran by Abby. She came in knowing it only as a way to become famous and as a competitive thing- BEYOND regular children’s dance (which is intense enough without everything else).
She just cannot understand that Abby and reign dance and the ALDC were simply the girls “home team” (even though many travelled bc the area became rough over time so most didn’t live near the studio like when it first opened by Abby’s mom). I know you talk about this all in the video but it’s just insane how she doesn’t realize that perspective. That she can’t understand that these girls were just girls that, yes, wanted intense dance training, but didn’t sign up for the purpose of working w crazy Abby and being on the show etc.

JoJo is an obnoxious mess that did not experience the trauma that some did. Abby was a monster to several of the girls, Nia and Chloe in particular were treated horribly. Over the seven years that this show was taping we saw Abby literally beat the joy of dancing out of Brooke, Paige, Chloe, Nia, Maddie and Mackenzie. JoJo was only there for two seasons and bounced before Abby could screw her up!
