Hi Jen, I am enjoying the Vlogmas videos and just wanted to say "thank you" for acknowledging the life of renowned literary legend, Nikki Giovanni. I'm African American and attended public school in Washington, D.C. (which had/has predominately black & brown residents) so Ms. Giovanni's works were a staple in our English, History and Literature school curriculum. She was a true life force - having authored more than 25 books, including 11 illustrated children's books. She was a professor at VA Tech for 35 years, so, the current and future generations will surely know her works and impact. One of my favorite quotes from her --- "Words are the most important things that human beings have. And no matter what the situation, we must remember to use them." Regarding my fav magazine -- While the quality of the paper in monthly magazines has declined in recent years, I still subscribe and enjoy Better Homes & Garden.
I am JUST NOW discovering her work and it’s incredible and look forward to reading more!!!! Your words are a beautiful tribute. And yeah I stopped getting better homes and gardens when the paper quality became so poor but I did always love the content.
Okay people in the comments. Who else is a little sad when their daily episode ends. It’s like a good movie or book, you just want more time with it. Thanks for the videos this month! We know we are on borrowed time and this has been so fun!
Your statement about not being responsible for what we weren’t taught growing up but now we are grown we are responsible to educate ourselves now… really struck a chord with me. Having grown up in a small Texas city civil rights were not at the top of the priority list in my education. I may re-quote this (with citation).
WDW Magazine is my fave and only print subscription for the the past almost 3 years! My mom weeds through her People subscription and passes on to me what I’m interested in because she’s the best. Merry Christmas!🎄
I have deer walking through my yard every day and they make me so happy! A co-worker has had issues with Wayfair. It's kept me from ordering from them. Really enjoying these daily vlogs!
Y’all’s neighborhood is awesome- I tried to picture what my two hounds’ reactions would be if deer were to frolick out on the street while we were walking 😂 Yours did wonderfully. ❤
I feel seen! So embarrassed by my cuticle picking. It's a super big deal that your hands are so happy, especially with everything going on with your family and in this season!
Honestly don’t be embarrassed! So many of us do that. Isn’t it funny the things people do that they’re NOT embarrassed about at all that harm others (rude behavior for example) and we are out here feeling bad because we get anxious and pick at our nails? 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Have him install the vanity ASIS. Put tape on the corner and exact measurements of the top. When you get back in town, go to a marble company and ask them for a quote on something good. The "discount" for the new top is the money you get back on the broken item. The company will cut and install it for a fraction of the cost. In the meantime, you'll have a usable vanity.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge I'm Happy to help. We have renovated many homes, and there's always something. Ha! Make sure to ask to see their remnant marble/granite, as those are offcuts from larger projects, and they just want to offload them since they're strange sizes.
I just came here to say the same thing :) As a mostly DIYer, it’s where my brain went right away. The rest of the vanity is perfect, and they’ve already refunded you for it, so use that money to replace the top on something you know you already like. It also means you get to support a local business over the holidays and can probably be done in time.
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge If there's no visible anchors like screws or anything like that it's probably on with an adhesive. If that's the case I would ask whatever company you go with what their recommendation is for removal. They may choose to have someone come measure it for you and take care of removal and then mount the new piece when it's time. They should be able to guide you :)
I am loving the music you chose for background as you were walking your dogs. I love Greensleeves song. ( side note Henry VIII wrote it for Anne Boleyn)
Yankee Magazine is my favorite print magazine. It is all about New England and, as a native New Englander, it speaks to me. Great stories, great regular contributors, I look forward to every issue. If you aren't from New England, it may not appeal to you but if you are considering relocating here or want to learn more about the region, it's a great source of information. As for your vanity dilemma, I totally get it when you talk about losing momentum in a project, especially home renovation. We've been renovating our 220+ year old house since we bought it in 2015. We are done with the major projects and have just a few small ones to work on. In every major reno phase, we have encountered unexpected issues that have caused delays, changes to original plans and added costs. It's just the reality of home renovations. It will be ok. There are always solutions to the problems, it just may take a bit longer to work out. Good luck with getting another vanity. And props for promoting learning new things throughout one's life. We can always learn more and do better to promote those who have important things to share.
I know exactly what you mean and how you feel about your downstairs bathroom derailment. My hubby has just fixed our camper starting issues and now it’s developed a fuel leak.. Suck a lovely neighbor hood and wildlife….we live in a rural village and have beautiful woodlands.. I’m so loving Vlogmass…thank you for your Herculean effort and doing it….👍🇬🇧
I get Conde Nast Traveler mainly because I like looking at the photos. But I also get Afar, which I think is better as far as quality and quantity of really amazing photos. I plan on keeping both since I like daydreaming while looking at them.
Two year’s ago when I renovated my home I painted the house SW agreeable grey, peppercorn, white duck and Tricorn black. I researched for days, I didn’t want undertones. You’ll love agreeable grey, it’s beautiful in all types of lighting. I Barefoot Dreams is amazing. I have several of their robes. I also love their sweaters for travel.
YES the designers that did the bathroom offered me several options for the interior of the house and that was my favorite by far. Sadly, the painting had to be cut from the budget until next year but the color stays!
Wondering why my disabled, immune compromised husband’s toe decided this was the perfect week for cellulitis and unplanned podiatry appointments - now that you informed me Mars is in retrograde, it makes perfect sense. At least once daily I exclaim, “And this is why we have no Christmas decorations up indoors yet…”. Trying to roll with it. Hopefully on Friday, God willing. Have a beautiful visit with your dear mom.
Sounds like you’ve had a very challenging week. Hang in there and the decorating will happen when it happens! After all Christmas season doesn’t even begin until December 24th!
@@JoyfulLivingwithJenLefforge Thank you for the encouragement. We are married 48 years tomorrow, and I am blessed he is still here - 19+ years post-heart transplant & muscular dystrophy. ❤
Thanks for another fun vlog. Know that everything will work out for the best with your vanity. When God gives us a "problem" there is always a solution. Garden & Gun is a wonderful southern magazine.
You’re right. The 10th is a big day. It’s my birthday 😂. More importantly, it’s only 4 days until my dad’s birthday and 5 days until my son’s birthday. If I’m not prepared by the 10th, I’ve run out of time. Also, the l’Occitane shower oil is wonderful. Enjoy.
I enjoy getting the Atlantic. I love a good magazine and also read it online. It makes me think, which is usually good lol, but I do take my time with it (not a breeze through read).
The first night of Hanukkah this year is Christmas Day! BTW, your Day 10 Voluspa candle (Gilt Pomander & Hinoki) is my favorite of all the ones I've sniffed or tried and the glass jar is stunning while the candle burns. It's also the favorite of UA-camr Cecilia Blomdahl who lives in Svalbard and burns that scent year round - whereas I save it for winter holiday time.
I had three attempts with WayFair vanities that all arrived broken. Customer service was horrible! So frustrating. So I switched over to ordering directly from Kohler. More expensive yes, however quality and service was amazing. I accidentally ordered the wrong size (my fault!) and they shipped me a brand new vanity at no additional cost. Didn’t need to return the original one. They asked me to donate to charity of my choice and I was able to.
With the advent calendar with drawers pull it out and turn it around so that all the used empty drawers will be in backward and the remaining ones are easy to see.
My favorite print magazine and the only one I still get is AFAR. I used to get a lot more magazines, especially travel magazines (Condé Nast traveler, Travel & Leisure, National Geographic, Cruise Travel), and some home decor ones, but now I'm down to just AFAR.
Hinoki is Japanese Cedar. You were pronouncing it just fine as far as I can tell! In Japan, some bath-tubs are made out of hinoki and are supposed to smell wonderful. I'm not sure that I've ever been in one and my olfactory senses aren't great, so I'll take the experts word for it!
Hmmm it’s working for me so I’m not sure? The code unfortunately doesn’t work for the robe because it’s already on sale but should work on everything else on the site.
OK I FIGURED IT OUT! You can still use jenlefforge20 but evidently the 25% doesn't work anymore (I misunderstood and it was just for the campaign). But the JENLEFFORGE20 should work for the robe!
We just moved and we have amazing new neighbours…it is so nice…priceless really. Can i bother you for the name of the car service you use in Orlando.? Would they have a car seat for my grandson who will be 19 months? I can look at your old videos and find it.
Jen, it's too bad about the vanity situation. However, Wayfair seems to have tried to make things "right" for you and gave you a refund without the hassle of a return (probably because they don't want to pay for shipping back..). As another viewer had said, If you could find a "marble" store near you, they may be able to repair it or re-design the two front corners and "round them" out or replace the top. It really looks like quite a nice piece. But very disappointing indeed. Your feelings are certainly validated. Good advent haul today! 🙂
My Magazine Roll Call - Food Network-Don't love it like I used to. HGTV- I don't need this in my life anymore, Our State (NC) - great for me, probably not for you. Local Palate- What a Treasure. I miss Martha Stewart Living so much! And I must re-order Vanity Fair.
