Rubidium, did you just spy on my entire weekend? I just shot my very first higher budget music video and had one of the roughest experiences in my film making career. I've been despondent all day. I'm physically and emotionally drained and I've been questioning if I'm cut out for this. Every move I made, every decision made me feel as if I was making the wrong one. There were consequences on both ends. My nerves and patience were shot. I'm feel I'm a successful photographer and have had decent success with video. These were the words I needed to hear. Thanks for sharing your experience and your knowledge at a time when I needed it most. 🙏

So true. There's nothing like understanding something so well that you have the confidence to say, "Nope. We're it doing it this way," even when so many don't understand what you're seeing. But you really have to see it. If you're faking it, it's like shooting in the dark.

May i ask about your unique look
How do you reach that great separation between evenly and highly lighted person and dark background?
it would be great to see video about your setup

😂I don't shoot in Raw as much now that I have the c70, and as a result, can't add as much sharpening without noise.

You're very right on patience. I would also say talent but you can't teach that.

What are your thoughts on fan films? These are typically not “original” in the usual sense but obviously have some of your own qualities in it if you’re involved in writing it. Just curious on your thoughts…

I've never really understood the appeal of making them. If you're going to spend all that time and money, make something that's your own and that you own the rights to.

@@Crimsonengine well, for many who make them, I think it’s a way of telling part of the story that has yet to be told. Or perhaps has not yet been told in a video medium. So it’s a way to bring those stories to the screen with your own touch to it.

@@Crimsonengine probably the idea is that a fan film about a well-know property might get some/a lot of publicity, and your work will end up in front of more eyes than a short film about a character you came up with. Just my two cents :)

He loves to steal, but at least he steals from weird places :) He doesn't try and remake Die Hard

to steal from one person is plagiarism; to steal from many is research (creativity)
