- Whether through legacy or the sheer force of their personalities, there’s plenty of industry figures who’ve cut such historic and well-documented paths in hip-hop, that they seem more like fictional characters than human beings. And where some people are seen as leaders, anti-heroes or even tragic martyrs, Suge Knight’s role was that of the supervillain.
The final boss when it comes to merging the worlds of hip-hop and gang-related, Marion “Suge” Knight rose from football prospect to a label kingpin that guided the west coast to greatness in the mid 90’s. But in doing so, he muddied the waters between where the business of Death Row Records ended and where street enterprise began.

Um no, if you're incorrectly portrayed in a movie that's going to be viewed by millions of people if you're a real man you're going to stand up for yourself. Suge killed Terry Carter in SELF DEFENSE it's all on video Terry Carter started attacking Suge and after he ran him over someone ran up to Terry Carter a pulled a gun out of his waist, mind you this is all on video. Suge had every right to defend himself, also remember a couple months prior to that event Suge was shot 7 times at 1OAK. Put yourself in his shoes, someone already tried to kill you once and now someone else is trying to do the same why would you not defend yourself.
The guy he ran over was the same guy who tried to kill him in 1oak night club. I mean interscope did sign puffy after Tupac died, and who has reaped the benefits since Pacs death? And who hasn't? #FREESUGE

I find Suge Knight to be a fascinating figure to read about in Hip-Hop/Rap history. I would love for a film studio to make a biopic on the man. Seeing him poor, then rise up to be a powerful man in the music industry to his downfall.
You may have seen it but ‘straight outta Compton’ features a portrayal of suge knight and you get a small insight on how he ran shit in the 90’s.

AND, this is very important, you gotta involve KXNG CROOKED I in that because "Tha Row" took him from nothin, and put him on Billboards on Santa Monica too. So the story, definitely, does NOT end with Tupac's death

There needs to be a death row mini series, similar to the one they did on the Pamela Anderson sex tape leak, except do a separate season on each of the original rappers from Death Row.
If they do it right, they can blend the fictional stories and the real shit, and just make an insanely entertaining pseudo-biopic, and save Suge Knight's own season for the final climax.

Suge helping helping folks from having their homes get foreclosed on, while meanwhile doing some of the shit he did, reminds me of some Al Capone shit. Al Capone would open soup kitchens. Not because he wanted to help people but purely as a strategy to manipulate the public into seeing him as a Robin-hood figure so people would be afraid of the backlash they'd get for going after him.
Tbf Al Capone helped alot of people by doing that, alot of the soup kitchens he opened were in areas that needed em during the great depression, and also bribed a bunch of milk companies to start stamping expiration dates on their bottles

The different between master P and Suge knight is that master P is a gangster who became CEO meanwhile Suge was a CEO who wanted to be a Gangster and that took him and his career down.

Suge is a legend. Hate him all you want but he made 90's west coast 'gangsta' rap a true culture. And something no documentary ever mentions is, he gave back a lot to family, friends and his community. He was a good man at heart, I think he just thought he had to carry himself as the big bad wolf in order to be and stay relevant.

Your opening about hip hop figures not seeming real is very relatable to me. Full disclosure, I'm a white guy who grew up in the suburbs, and when I started getting into music as a teenager It took me like 4 years to take rap seriously as an art form. But I remember when I was really young my brother showed me some like album art or something and said "you know who this is?" And I said "no why?" In heinsight he was probably talking about Dr. Dre, but I misheard it as Dr. Jay. He told me that Dr. Jay was pretty much the greatest Rapper who ever lived and he revolutionized black music and the industry as a whole, he tells the story much better than me. And when I grew up I was surprised to learn that Dr. Dre was, like, an actual artist. Like I knew who he was but it was weird to think of him as a contemporary musical cause my brother built up this image of him being like this legendary figure.
