Even better they could have had Rolf Harris singing jake the pake with his extra leg or maybe two little boys with two little toys, oh and was it my imagination or did I see a very very young huw Edwards in the audience?😂
The Sweet, brilliant. Brian Connolly was a great front man, tragic how he ended up. Check out his vocals on one of their later hits “Love Is Like Oxygen”:(my favourite, although Brian was sadly already showing signs of health deterioration by then.) Steve Priest was the funny guy, totally bonkers here.
@@toomuchinformation Yes. Brian’s teenaged mum (Frances Connolly) abandoned him in a Glasgow hospital, when he was a baby and possibly suffering from meningitis. He was fostered by the McManus family and later reverted to his true name of Connolly when he discovered his true lineage, although his father’s identity was never made public. The fella had a rough start in life.

16:43 The Sweet A very underrated band some brilliant musicianship if you listen carefully. Also their song "Ballroom Blitz" worth a listen. Definitely Chinn&Chapman produced. Pete Waterman so far behind.
My mum loathed him and when asked why stated that she felt his manner, which was passed off as eccentric, was a cover for something altogether more and perverted and sinister.
Glitter shouting “do you wanna touch me… there?” to a bunch of schoolgirls, and being applauded for it. Could this be the moment he went over to the dark side?
Agreed, Colin Blunstone (still going now!) should have received more a acclaim at the time. A lot of his work was in association with other big names, including the Alan Parsons Project (“Eye in the Sky”) and some of it was under a pseudonym (Neil MacArthur.) But he did achieve recognition when he was later inducted into the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame as part of The Zombies.

You're right, he got his hands over that young girl you can see she is into it, remember us kids talking about it at school the next day, that is why we pay our licenses so they got the money to cover things up very professionally
I loved Gary glitters I love you love, but even as a 10 Yr old he looked a bit old and creepy, and it wasn't till I was older I thought Saville was a bit creepy as well
So, Saville looks like he fell onto a mop, Glitter looks like his wig can't quite bring itself to touch his scalp, and the Sweet haven't got a hairstyle, just uncut hair. Together with the stacked heels and the recycled Xmas decoration clothing, the early 70s really were the years that Style forgot.
@@daffyduk77 i am an american so the first time i saw jim saville was probably sometime after 2000, and yes i could tell quite a bit about him. his interviews were very troubling, as he was combative, manipulative, and bizarre all at the same time. he very clearly had a lot to hide. then when i saw how he wanted to be around weaker groups of people ( young, troubled, vulnerable, impressionable ) i recognized him as a predator. i have a less than professional expertise, but much deeper than the average lay person, of these kinds of persons. i knew something wasn't adding up in england because his behavior was not that hard to recognize, but he was a big shot and had not yet been exposed.
came here for Marc Bolan & T.REX....notice how they couldn't dance to save their lives back then?...I mean, whats with dancing to the 'Off' beat?!...even the sound of Saville's voice makes me wanna puke
Jimmy Savile and Gary Glitter on the same show - the mind boggles!
Those were the days
Even better they could have had Rolf Harris singing jake the pake with his extra leg or maybe two little boys with two little toys, oh and was it my imagination or did I see a very very young huw Edwards in the audience?😂
Some of us had no idea about them back then. If only we knew.
He got his hands over that young girl you can see she is in to it
A long time ago
We were so innocent and they were so perverted
I wasn't nor were many others. We were fooled but it just wasn't that easy then.

Great fecking band.☘️
"Blockbuster" and "Love is like Oxygen" are my favourite Sweet songs as well.
Wasn't Brian Connolly the half brother of Taggart's Mark McManus?

Sadly only Andy Scott still with us .
Mick Tucker was an unbelievably good drummer.
"How could we dare to be wrong" about YOU Jimmy? My Dad hated the sight of him, must have known there was something off about him....
mine to ,my sister as well said back then he makes her skin crawl

He’s about to grope that young girl at 12:23. Ewww

Elton John, a true star! Colin Blundstone so under rated.

@@justinneill5003I've never seen him smile. I guess the songs of The Zombies weren't very happy.
And yet the music was so so beautiful
I had been to a Sweet concert only a couple of weeks before this broadcast, at the Glasgow Apollo.
This was recorded x2 days before I was born, I'm now 51yrs old👍🏻My name’s Daniel also, got a feelin’ I might’ve been named after the Elton John song🎉
Gary Glitter singing "Do you want to touch me there" with Jimmy Saville beaming. A strange sight!
The INTRO credits brings me back to my happy place...
Gary Gltter do you wanna touch. Oh dear sick song and he got away with those awful hand gestures.
😂
Jimmy Saville introducing Gary Glitter. Wow.
My mum used to call Saville a dirty old man. Even she knew the rumours!
4 days before my 13th Birthday, use to look forward all week for TOTP
Me too
Just started my work life , 51 years that went quickly.
Scrlled forward to hear Colin Blunstone...a great voice.
Love the intro music from wizzard.
Interesting to see the Rubettes drummer performing with the appalling Gary Fritter !

A few weeks before my 14th Birthday ! I remember this very episode upon broadcast . 😀

12 minutes and 30 seconds in. ! Jimmy Saville up to his tricks !
Jimmys all over that little girl at 12:40

LOOKS TO ME LIKE SHE WAS GETTING DAMP SO NO COMPLAINTS THERE HUH !
Saville and Glitter in one prog, the good ol 70s,
I loved Gary glitters I love you love, but even as a 10 Yr old he looked a bit old and creepy, and it wasn't till I was older I thought Saville was a bit creepy as well
You were right, they both were.
Looks like the BBC always loved a cover up
You can't beat the BBC for a brilliant cover-up they were experts at it, great hay
So, Saville looks like he fell onto a mop, Glitter looks like his wig can't quite bring itself to touch his scalp, and the Sweet haven't got a hairstyle, just uncut hair. if we only knew then what we know now in 2024
no offense intended, england, but how could you not know that there was something seriously wrong with jimmy saville ?
So you knew at the time, yes ?

Probably because he was so well in with the elites ,&he had that much dirt on them the top people had to cover it up
They did but he was money and you known the old saying money talks
"Pans People David Bray, and ELO" removed due to copyright. Thank God!
Should be done on all videos. 🙃
Elton John was really losing his hair by 1973 and he has a relatively thick head of hair there. Was he wearing toupees at that point?
Thank you for this upload, Dandy Livingston and Colin Blunstone the highlights!
With Elton and Sweet? Those two songs by the artists you mentioned were so out of place here.
Si mi padre lo decía cuidado con los pelirrojos María cuidado con los rojos y mira cómo me ha salido más rojo que las amapolas😂😂😂😂😂
