I would just have a bunch of field cards and creep my area effects over his and waited.... and waited..... so much waiting =_= My stuff didn't even make sense. I had Umi and Forest when I was playing zombies LOL The toon stress was too much
StickmanSham I don't know how that strategy could work. He can brainwash your cards and attack you with them. So he'd always burn me to death and/or beat me with my own monsters. I could only win with some ass-pulling.
For me this song brings back the feels of strategy thinking. The sensation of facing off against rough opponents in ferocious duels of darkness. Even though the game didn't have much a story, the seriousness and brutality this theme could bring to the duels was just incredible.
I liked the chess style of the game. You moved cards and tried to take out a specific "king" card. On top of the fact field spells made one specific tile a terrain instead of the whole field. I made my entire side Yami once, and I was going against Light attributes. They couldn't touch me, and my entire Dark deck got a fat boost.
I rather considerate that as a mix between a board game and a card game rather than a chess style of game, it was very interesting to being able to move your monsters around the map and that complicated a lot the original game but that wasn't painful and asked to think more and to be more strategic than ever, combined with field bonuses and that even spell or traps could move to be used as lures, that was simply genius ! On the contrary, making one of medow's effects to reduce by 500 the ATK and DEF of every spellcaster wanst' clever or reasonnable, warriors aren't the arc nemesis or ennemy of spellcasters, dragons are, so it should have been Mountain instead and reversely, Yami should have reduce any dragon and fairy moving on by 500 points, meadow reducing winged-beast and powering warriors and beast-warriors only, Forest, not changing and Moutain reducing warriors and beast-warriors by 500 points. Also, they should have improve more also by using the TCG effects of some spells like Book of Secret Arts cuz they're otherwise useless, the strongest spellcasters are Dark attribute So far, i obtained DMG, ten of DM, one Toon Summoned Skull, Tremendous Fire, Mirror Wall, Swords of Revealing Light and Skull Knight as rare cards.
Begyn Anthony The games rarely use TCG effects, because realistically this was at the time when the game's storylines were supposedly canon to the show, as such they needed to follow what the show did. I don't mind, I know enough about the game to know what to do IRL. My favorite strategy was closing in my opponent, so I focused on making the exact opposite nemesis of what they had so i could use the field bonuses to keep them in check and powerup my own monsters. The new games they have are basically virtual TCGs which kind of disappoints me that they didn't try to continue what they did with DOR.
Drake Blackley Exactly but you're mistaking about saying that the games are cannon to the show wich they aren't, they're just inspired from, similar, but like Pyramid of Light, they take place nowhere in the show's continuity, if you have time to listen a old player, then keep it reading, otherwise pass your turn. FM can' take place in the show's continuity cuz Pegasus still has his Millenium Eye, that Kaiba has the Millenium Rod and that even it seems that's not Yugi's first tournament in modern times part, he first encounters Atem during that same tournament, ignoring his existence until then, so it couldn't take place between season 1 and 2 or before, because apprently Keith seems to already know Yugi that he will only meet at Duelist Kingdom, same for Ishizu that he will only meet at the beginning of season 2 shortly before another tournament : Battle City. DOTR uses Yu-Gi-Oh! characters as substitutes for real life personnalities during the war of roses in england a long time ago, so it can't be cannon either, Yu-Gi-Oh! Falsebound Kingdom seems to take place after Battle City in the anime/manga but that doesn't sounds right as Atem doesn't recognize his Ace when he comes to him (Dark Magician) during his story, also, Yugi & co are surprised to see a duel disk, something they used during the whole Battle City said tournament and known since Duelist Kingdom. And the anime rules differ from the TCG but changed cards effects make those cards better than their TCG counterparts, and not making them worse, like it is the case with Book of Secret Arts, the only spellcasters i have who could be helpful until i get DM were Illusionist Faceless Mage and Spirit of the Wind, hard to summon for what they could do originally, especially against the 2 first opponents who already have more than 2000 ATK for every monster they summon on their advanteged field while i couldn't take advantage of any part of it cuz there was no Yami's corner, so out of patience and tired to have lost already 10 times in a row against both Rex and Haga, i typed passwords to get some of the better cards, and ironically, i beat the first story the day after at the middle of the afternoon !
