In BE MORE CHILL, achieving the “perfect life” is now possible thanks to some mysterious new technology-but it comes at a cost that’s not as easy to swallow. What could possibly go wrong? Blending the contemporary with retro sci-fi, this thrillingly exciting, comically subversive, and deeply felt new musical takes on the competing voices in all of our heads. Based on the cult sensation novel by Ned Vizzini, BE MORE CHILL is the story of Jeremy Heere, your average, nothing-special teenager at Middleborough High in nothing-special New Jersey. That is, until the day he finds out about "The Squip." Thus begins a journey that pits Jeremy's desire to be popular against his struggle to remain true to his authentic self. This original musical with music and lyrics by Joe Iconis and a book by Joe Tracz was originally commissioned and produced by Two River Theater, Red Bank, NJ and debuts on Broadway in February 2019.
Will sounds so much sadder in this version. The other version released makes Jeremy sound kind of angry.

i don’t get why bmc fans don’t like will roland as jeremy, his voice is beautiful and he’s a great actor. sure he isn’t the same as will connolly but if that’s what you’re expecting from any broadway show then prepare to be let down a lot. anyways it’s nice to have something different

his voice is so unique oh my god i love it so much
I like this version a LOT. While the original gives Jeremy the bitterness and the anger at himself that he needs to get SQUIPped, this one gives him the sadness and the introspection that he needs to push him to that boiling point. Also, just from a logistical standpoint, having the song be softer all the way through allows it to have more of a build at the very end and makes that last note really stick out, showcasing Will's belt better.

I know Will doesn't like compliments, but he. sings. so. gosh. darn. well. In this his voice sounds so soft and he sounds so much..sadder in this one. Maybe a more regretful Jeremy, or whatever? The other one sounds a lot more..angry. Somehow, Will just like takes the emotion and *pours the entire gosh darn thing* into his singing and i just cAn'T. I like the other Will, too. But I honestly prefer this Will. Don't get me wrong, I love Connoly to death but I just like this Jeremy more.

Will sounds so sad in this version and I really like it cause you feel the emotion. When Will Connolly was Jeremy I loved his voice too but now I REALLY love Will Rolands voice and I don’t get why BMC fans don’t like him as Jeremy he’s as good as Will Connolly. But anyways I love them both so much for playing and bringing to life such and amazing character!🙂❤️
The new vocals that Will has in this and just the music... it give us a whole new light on this song and the way Jeremy feels. In the previous recordings, Jeremy always seemed frusterated, or angry in a way, but still hopeful (ish) for a new start. This one is much more smoothed over and Jeremy actually sounds sort of... defeated and lost at the beginning. Even the way Will delivers and sings these notes are different. Before he kind of seemed like he was trying to prove or sort of explain why he was doning what he was doing, but now he's just... defeated. Like "I was so pathetic that I couldn't even do this, huh? Well, now I've got someone to do it for me." Both are such beautiful additions to the fandom and musical and add so much more depth into Jeremy's character.

I don't know where in the musical this song appears, but if it sounds like it world fit in place of Upgrade. The lyrics change Jeremy's character and bring out the line he says before Michael in the Bathroom about the universe owing him one. And the line about ignoring the apprehensive voice in is head makes Voices in my Head more significant. I love the lyrics so much!
Im pretty sure it's like the new ending to act one so yeah it takes place at the end of upgrade before the Optive nerve blocking but I don't know if they changed it now they are on Broadway like they changed some stuff again (apparently) hope this helps 🙂

yeah if you go back and listen to upgrade, the opening line of this song is actually in it, when it got revived they just decided to make it a whole song rather than just a part at the end of upgrade.

I really do like this version because Will's voice just...floats. He really excels in higher keys. I also love the more melodic approach to the song compared to the in-show version, which to me is more acting than singing (but singing nonetheless). His voice sounds very pretty here.
I prefer this one to the OG one because it is as if Jeremy himself is agreeing with the squip without the squip doing anything to persuade him. It’s more sad and I love it. And u Will.

I have watched this about 15 times since it came out lol
ok I love the addition of this song to the story. It really gives us way more of an insight into Jeremy's mind that we didn't have before the song was added. Before it just seemed like Jeremy was selfish and blocked Michael, but now we can see he's having an inner battle of being loyal to his friend versus becoming the "cool dude" he wants to be. and Will Roland has such a personal voice, one that can only belong to him, and I personally love how he delivers these lines. :)

I really liked the song that came out but I LOVED this. Hot take, I love Will Roland. Loser Geek Whatever was built for his interpretation of Jeremy Heere for sure ( or vise versa) so I understand why some people don't exactly think it's fits the original Jeremy. B u t this version
This version I can see the Jeremy we all fell in love with sing. It shows the overthinking the og and the new Jeremy often show. Where each version differs really shows the main differences of both Jeremys. The og tends to fluster when making a mistake or over think, and the new one tends to get frustrated. Both are very valid and human interpretations of what a human may do and though we all have our preferences, I hope all BMC fans can see good in both Wills. Their voices and tones fit perfectly with the character they saw in that script.
