FIND OF A LIFETIME metal detecting! - Episode 406

- A local landowner called me and said he had done some research on one of his farms and found a few places worth metal detecting. The sites were a mid-1800s homesite, a possible Long Hunter’s Camp, a place that showed four houses on the old maps, and a steamboat landing along the Cumberland River. We hunted the spots in the order listed above and didn’t find anything to write home about until we finally hit the steamboat landing. Within 10 minutes of hunting, Larry dug the FIND OF A LIFETIME; it was a beautiful 8 Reale piece of Spanish silver.
WHAT TO WATCH NEXT: Check out this amazing hunt Larry and I had ua-cam.com/video/fhmb-UopJpU/v-deo.htmlsi=mlETIpwqSZlPLTTl
All I can say is thank you for the opportunity to hang out and dig some holes. I never expected to land such an incredible coin.
It was a memorable hunt. So glad you could finally join the Reale club... I've been waiting that this moment to happen. So happy for you buddy. You FINISHED STRONG!
Huge congrats to Larry on his monster Reale! Such a beautiful coin. It was great seeing you back out there digging in the dirt, Loy. Enjoyed watching this one a whole lot and look forward to seeing your next! ATB Greg
Thanks buddy. I think we’re going back tomorrow. Wish us luck.
Best of luck and having an old steamboat landing on the Cumberland is a dream spot to detect. I have a feeling there are a lot more things waiting to be found there.@@DigginwithSeven
@@FindingAmerica Thanks Greg. Turned out that the only thing lost on a one mile stretch of the riverbank was an Eight Reales. We beat that area for two hours and.... Nothing... We had high hopes. You just never know...
to bad it didnt produce again but thats the way it goes sometimes. Just makes pulling that reale even more amazing.
Sorry to hear that Larry but it will always be your site of a lifetime! It was definitely meant to be for you to come along and find that amazing 8 reale. Congrats again!@@larrystephens7437

What a fantastic huge silver coin, the equivalent in UK would be a silver crown and they never come up detecting so we know how rare it is to find large silver coins. What a superb hunt you two had, and some lovely finds, even a flint arrow tip. All the best from Wendy and Jon in England.👌👌👌👍👍👍👍
Thank you so much, and yes, the 8 Reales are hard to come by. It was a great find by Larry.
Even joking about it, never in my wildest dreams I never thought that I would actually dig one.
wow sir great hunt. Really impressive
Thank for watching… Larry did well
Dang Larry!!! Beautiful coin!!! Congrats!!! Great hunt!!!
Thanks for watching. It was a great find and I so happy Larry finally got his Reale.

Based on the number of relics that you are finding a Reales should be popping up soon. At least one that has been cut.

Wow!!
That’s what we said. Lol. Thanks for watching
Foy, a fewyears ago, I was scanning the UA-cam channels and happened to come across your channel. You were hunting with Tennessee Jeff and were working old settlements. You both also had some type of competition going on regarding finding a harmonica reed at each consecutive hunt. Well, you both got me hooked on the hobby. Now, after a Garrett AT Pro, Equinox 800, Teknetics T2, XP Deus and XP DEUS II later and along with all the gear such as pin pointers, pouches etc I am still in the hobby; however, I have become somewhat relaxed of late because my wife was having serious heart issues since last February. Now that she is doing much better, I just haven't been able to get myself back into the swing, so to speak. I have been one half day detecting since January. I had even paid for and scheduled my hunt I do at the Digstock events each year. This year, it was in North Carolina and only a 4 hour drive in the RV from my home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. My wife was beginning to have medical issues, but it wasn't to the point I couldn't leave her alone. I ended up not going and didn't even seek my refund.
Well, my friend, at 71, I thought my metal detecting days were going to slowly fade into the sunset just as my English Setter bird hunting days had done. A covey of quail became so hard to find I found metal detecting a good substitute for keeping me off the sofa all day.
I have you to thank and my wife also has a few choice words for you, for getting me intoxicated with the hobby. From the detectors I have, I think you can see where most of my spare change went.
Now, I want to get right to the point of why I am writing this comment to you.
You remember this video, I am sure. You were detecting with your friend Larry. Just a normal day of having fun and fellowship detecting with a friend. It is the kind of day that is spurred on with some friendly competition. I just happened to think about your UA-cam channel. You had slowed down making videos and at one point you were doing underwater detecting videos which I do not do. I just kind of started looking at some other detecting videos. But today, I had to pull up your Diggin with Seven into my search engine and watched one where you are hunting with Larry again and find a few things. I think a nice looking lock cover and so forth. After that video was finished, this one started automatically. I never looked at the title and I just sat back in my chair enjoying it.
THEN IT HAPPENED. At first I thought it was a gag Larry was pulling on you, or you him. Never in a hundred years did I think I would see someone find an Eight Reale. A legitimate find front and center.
You have done it to me once again. My blood started pumping, my mind started thinking. What do I need to do. Yes charge the detectors, get out my logs and hit the library. Get my chores done and write Sunday's sermon, so the rest of the week I will only be detecting.
I thank you for this. I am sure my wife will as well, because after 48 years of marriage, she is sick and tired of seeing me lay around the house.
God bless you and Larry,
In Christ, R. Tom Kellam
@@rolandtomkellam9306 great story buddy. Thanks for reaching out and keep Diggin those holes… there’s still treasure out there.
Found you from watching one of Kurt's old videos
Welcome aboard buddy. Happy to have you
Sweet
Thank you
Hey there, my name is Dennis. I’ve been watching a lot of of your videos on Dalehollow me and my family dive there as well. It’s really interesting to see someone else do the same. Would you be interested in diving together sometime this summer?
That might be a possibility. Thanks for watching

Thanks Deej... Larry did well
Thank you very much... I am still grinning...

If you guys get a nice size hunt, could I join you guys
We do small spur of the minute hunts for specific landowners who only give us access to locations. Sorry.
