Oh my goodness!! I wish I had an art teacher like you when I was in high school. How much fun. Your kids are really lucky to have such a talented teacher. I have learned so much from you!! This is very beautiful.
You are amazing! The other day I watched your coil pot video. Today I watched this and I am so excited to try this method! What I admire about you is whatever you do, you do well and you explain it clearly. Of course I'm a subscriber. I have been since the first video that I watched. I'll have to find your store on Etsy. Please keep up the fabulous work. You have encouraged and helped me immensely!
Wow!!, what a fabulous work, and what an amazing clay. i don't know if we do have this kind of clay here in the Philippines. I am interested in pottery and i just want to know, if the original clay has been mixed with some coloring, because as far as i see, it really looks cool and beautiful.......Love your work Madam.
It is such a personal choice! ;-) I would first recommend looking locally to see if you can pick up a small used one. Quite often, people sell little kilns used for cheap! And, if you can get a good deal, I wouldn't worry about what brand it may be! Just so the wiring looks safe and not worn! I highly recommend an automatic kiln- but one with a kilnsitter works well too! I have a Skutt 1018 KM, but it may be a bit big for you. I used to have a smaller Skutt, but I don't recall the name of it. L&L's have great element holders- but they are considerably more expensive! My kiln supplier is Erin at Cornell Studio Supply near me in Dayton, Ohio... cornellstudiosupply.com/ Good luck!!! :-)
Marcia Johnson yes- great idea! Unfortunately I had way too many holes for that to work this time... 😉. Also, I wanted to knock out a bit more of the glaze to be sure that they wouldn't reseal during firing!
@@KaransPotsAndGlass thank you....I am paranoid..have 2 inexpensive air filters..pull down hood vent for my kiln and am constantly cleaning with water..will due of old age before dust gets me as I started on this addictive journey 3 years ago at 75!
wow SO INNOVATIVE , I LIKE IT, but i have a question here ?? when you finish up from formatting the clay in general do you have to put it in the oven , or leaving the object overnight will do? < I'm just a beginner ^_^
KaransPotsAndGlass, thanks mam you are so kind, actually i am a student of law from India, but deeply interested in this art form, i hope to pursue this passion further in the future, thanks for your amazing contributions in the field. I really appreciate it and have no words to describe my interest in this art form, but i am afraid of choosing it as career option. Please suggest if you find some time.
Because I use a cone 6 glaze- but I fire to cone 5. The 25 minute hold is soak time basically to allow the glaze to fully mature. (I occasionally have a cone 5 glaze I may also use, so that is my go-to program for successfully firing both my cone 5 and cone 6 glazes together!) :-)
At home, I like Laguna Bmix or bmix with grog- cone 6- but I am thinking about making a shift to a cone 6 porcelain in the next year or so! I am testing out some to see if I want to make that leap!
Donovan- in this video, I try to teach my students how to center large pieces of clay. I center one piece, then put a second piece on top of it, and center the both together. The trick of coning is something which I show to them to aide them in centering such large chunks. I am addressing common problems my students face. I find your comment confusing, as the piece is centered... In my opinion, bad centering is something which is NOT centered, or perhaps it takes someone way too long to center... neither of these is the case!
I see! When not doing a teaching video- I don't use multiple pieces, nor do I really use the coning method much... I tend to go much faster. ;-) Doing a demo and explaining the steps always takes me much longer! :-)
Hi I have a question about a piece that I have...may I email you photos please..it would really help me out..I'm sure you may have an answer for me...thank you kindly.

Amazing job 👏 it's so so beautiful .. I am deeply in love with this craft... I pray Allah to have the opportunity to be a ceramicist in the future 💫💓
That was quite a lot of clay to start off with. At first thought you were gonna throw a MOON POT. Great job on centering! You make things look easy.
Ha!!!! Thanks! :)
It's lovely! I learned a lot. Thank you❤
Thank you for sharing! Loved your video and would like to try it sometime soon!
Beautiful!!!
Very beautiful
Beautiful job
So pretty
I loved this one
I use Coyote brand glazes for the most part. I don't make my own- as I don't have a great space for mixing without dust.
Beautiful
Trypophobia! Love your videos, so helpful and a valuable teaching tool example for me to give classes!! Thanks
I have never tried to work with clay, but i would totally try this. Black outside and red inside
drop dead gorgeous
Love this video! Found your shop on Etsy and was so happy to see you make videos of you working.
Thank you!!! :-)
I like ur work it's so pretty!!
Thanks, Natalie! :-)
very cool, a air compressor gun might make clearing out the glaze from the small holes faster
Very good! Thank you!

The clay was not colored- it is a white stoneware... but, I did glaze it in a green glaze!
Amazing..... I love it
Wow! Amazing!
do another vid where you just keep drilling until its gone. priceless ;)
Your videos are fantastic
awwww! Thank you!!! :-)
I wished I had you in hs. Did you make large holes first then make rest holes? Beautiful! I love this I want try make one.
I wasn't that organized, truly, as you will see starting at 3:30- I was a bit more randomized with my order of sizes.
u r really great. .
u reply to every comment.
love ur work
Awwww- thanks! Guess that's the teacher in me! ;-)

HERMOSO MUY BUENA IDEA!
you could use air brush to clean the holes in the latter step
great idea! If I had a compressor in my studio- I would! :)
Impressive.
Helpful! Thanks!
hey i rrally enjoy your video. im a beginner potter. can yku recommend me what kiln i should have to fire the potts?

Awesome video
Lindo tu trabajo te felicito besos
🙉🙉🙉amazing
U r very creative
I usually blow in the holes to open up before the glaze dries
Marcia Johnson yes- great idea! Unfortunately I had way too many holes for that to work this time... 😉. Also, I wanted to knock out a bit more of the glaze to be sure that they wouldn't reseal during firing!
I’d like to see a slow motion of making the holes and how you smooth them..getting all of the burrs off.
Will hair not burn away in the kiln ?
Yes, hair burns out the kiln. Sorry- I don’t remember mentioning that in the video- so I can’t reference whatever I may have said! :)
The studio I go to has a dog. His hair does burn off! :D
Lol!!!
Do you have an air filter system?
Yes, at school, there is a ventilation system which exhausts air outside. At home, I have an Environkleen hepa filtration unit. I like it!
@@KaransPotsAndGlass thank you....I am paranoid..have 2 inexpensive air filters..pull down hood vent for my kiln and am constantly cleaning with water..will due of old age before dust gets me as I started on this addictive journey 3 years ago at 75!
I wish I could pay for a vase in the color white. Do you sell these I would LOVE to own one please!
Thank you for the message! I did respond on Etsy! :)
plz tell how u prepare caly plz
I would imagine it would be important to use a glaze that doesn't run, so the holes don't fill again with glaze?
You used only one color, yet it looks lighter inside. Is that cuz there's a light inside?
wow SO INNOVATIVE , I LIKE IT, but i have a question here ?? when you finish up from formatting the clay in general do you have to put it in the oven , or leaving the object overnight will do? < I'm just a beginner ^_^
Yes, this type of clay must be fired to around 2000 degrees F. :)
thanks
👍
Slow firing at what temperature mam.... Please illuminate us
Cone 5, slow, hold for a 25 minute soak!

Why do you use a 25 minute hold when you fire?
