Maybe you could consider buying some disposable applicators so you can test new products without contaminating them? Then you can try them and pass them on if you don’t like them.
I’ve found women shelters that will take my used lipsticks. I basically take a clean sharp knife and cut off 1/4”, clean the inside and outside of the bullet w rubbing alcohol. Let it dry and put it back in the box. Actually I’m constantly freezing and shaving my lipsticks during the viral months and felt guilty that I pan my lipsticks too quickly - until I saw this video 😂😂😂
What people do with their money is nobody's business. What people do with unnecessary plastic is everybody's business because we share the same planet.
Unfortunately your going to have to get to the coporations and get them to use alternatives that are cheap and easy to manufacture. But I like where your head is at👍

@@solar979 Education is always necessary. However, people won't stop buying makeup while companies look for more environmentally friendly and affordable alternatives to plastic. Most brands that offer plastic alternatives or refillable packaging are still prohibitively expensive. We can make an effort to buy less, recycle as much as possible, and minimize waste, although when makeup is someone's livelihood, I don't see them being able to significantly decrease the amount of waste. All makeup packaging should at least be made fully recyclable, if it isn't already. Instead of this silly, unscientific "clean beauty" trend, I'd love to see a shift to sustainability as a selling point, with products produced as sustainably as possible, and simpler packaging that is fully or partially biodegradable and/or can be recycled easily. If I had the gumption and financial backing, I'd start that company myself.

For the more sentimental items have you considered getting a shadow box for them and getting them placed inside of it in a nice decor type way with photos or descriptions of the memory?

For those beautiful Gucci lipsticks, if you want to display them, you can put them in a shadow box. There is a great one at Hobby Lobby that is perfect and will fit up to three standard lipsticks. I did that for my room with three of the Frida Kahlo lipsticks.

I think you should sort them by color and pigment BEFORE you do declutters! Like nude glosses, coral lipsticks, sheer berries, etc. and declutter amongst those.

I may be the only person here who thinks it ISN’T a great part of your job to get slammed with continuous new products. I have a fraction of your collection but still quite a few and honestly I find it sometimes is difficult to make choices. I can just imagine how crippling it must be to have several thousand of each product to chose on the daily. Um, no thank you.

Gab Orama I’d do both. More work for @jamie, but if you start with brand like she does here, then circle back to colors and declutter even more if necessary, you’d end up with the most optimal collection. And longer vids for us too 😍😍💄💄
Maybe organize by colour instead of brand so you can see how much of each colour you’re actually keeping and how many dupes are in your collection.
