" At least you're still pretty!" What the actual Frugen Fiffle Waffles? Who would say something like that? LOL I laugh at people when they ask "How far along are you?" "When is the baby due?" "OMG SHE'S PREGNANT GET UP OUT OF THAT SEAT AND LET HER SIT SO SHE DON"T FALL DOWN!" (this actually did happen just a month or so ago.) Seriously though. I have an extended abdomen from having both GIRDS and IBS and I look pregnant but am totally not. Infact I am 51 and had to get a complete hysterectomy due to cysts on my ovary and Endometriosis. So when people insult me, or ask stupid questions, I ignore it. LOL Love this video Megan. Honestly you rock. Love your personality.
My wife is from Africa. When we went to church here in Germany the first time and nobody (!) asked, how she had lost her leg, we always came back to this particular church. After at least a dozen times we had visited church and had been to a second breakfast at our parish after church, after we had been asked a thousand questions where she comes from, what it is like at that place, if she had sibblings, where do they work, what do they earn at their place and so on, somebody asked "May I ask a very personal question?" And then (!) came the question we had been waiting for so long - nobody could mind that question any longer. When we moved to the neighburing town, we still came to church here - guess why. And when we had to move another time, we took an extra efford to come back here. So: Yes, some questions are not that stupid - when you ask them in due time. BUT NOT WHEN YOU MEET FIRST TIME!
You are a knock out and so funny! Just these two fings have won my heart girl! I believe you pay half price at nail salon as it’s just one hand done! LOL!
Scary. These are the kinds of questions & comments I expect from children'; And the innocent curiosity makes it (mostly) OK. But this goes beyond simply not putting their brains in gear before they put their mouths in motion. Response for them: You should seriously think about not having children, before it's too late.
I can't imagine the strength you have to always combat these tedious questions and not get visibly angry! LOL to the Bethany Hamilton comment. Tell them yes and give them an autograph.
just found your channels and i'm absolutely in love. i was born w/out my right arm and finding videos like this really makes me laugh :) you're super funny and i can relate to almost all of these. another amazing one that always puts a smile on my face is "how can you be a soccer goalie if u have one arm/ like dont you need two?" ahaahahhahah noooo. i have been playing for 6-7 years and i get this at least once a season hahahah
I hate when people say Im brave, bravery is a choice!! I am about to get a surgery to remove a tumour inseparable to the nerve root in my neck which will leave my left arm completely paralysed Your videos help so much
Don’t you love it when it’s taking you a tad longer to do something for yourself but it makes the other people around you uncomfortable so they jump in and try to take over. Then some how they are all proud of themselves. I’m sure they mean well... but it’s ok for me to be different and take a little longer to do a few things lol.
‘Is Rick Allen your favorite drummer?’ (I hope that made you smile that pretty smile!) Oh Lord, MA! How in the heck do you keep from losing it?? I know some of those had to be real. And that’s sad. But some were hilarious! Thank you. ☮️
When I was 16 I got my right arm tangled in the corn picker on our farm. My arm had to be amputated halfway between my elbow and shoulder. In the 27 years since then, I have had a great life, and with the help of my husband have raised two kids. I can't even count high enough to tell you how many times I have been asked those and other insensitive questions. The one that really strikes me funny is when they ask if I can get dressed, while the can see that I am wearing clothes and am not nude. People can be so insensitive.
My 5 months ago I was in a bad car accident and my left arm had to be amputated between me elbow and shoulder. Regaining my confidence has been really hard so reading your story helps me to believe I can overcome this and still have a happy life!
A fellow arm amputee myself I can totally relate to most the things you just said. Except the Bethany Hamilton one. Being black that one is not gonna fly
Some of you people writing comments be more grown about a lot of us going through the same thing she going through is not funny we didn't choose to be like this accident happened and it can happen to anyone I love your videos Megan I wish I would of seen it 5years ago but it's never to late may God bless you always
this comment made my day... i use a similar response when people ask about why im so short (im a 5'2 man). "mom wasnt sure she could handle a whole kid, so she decided to start out with just half of one". gotta love using humor to break the tension when someone asks a dumb question lmao
Due to the fact that I had one leg shorter than the other as a child, and also have Nystagmus & Rapid Eye movement....I was bullied for almost my entire 13 yrs of school. I don't know why people during the 2nd semester of my senior year were trying to be "nice" but due to being bullied for 12 1/2 yrs...I wasn't having any of their "nice" crap. It's amazing even as I am older, the things people ask me."Did you get into a bad car accident, is that why your eyes move like that? I know....been there, done that. What was REALLY strange was when I met my DH.....he was amazing. Never asked a single "What happened to you"? question...and after a few months(after we started dating he went back to where he was stationed in the US Army. (in Germany) We got engaged, and married 6 months later. After our honeymoon, I fell apart...I was just "waiting" for him to ask me questions about my medical issues(and YES I was wrong to not bring it up)....and he never did....never. So, one day after we returned home from our honeymoon...I began to cry, asking him what he really noticed "different about me"...He looked at me, shocked & bewildered. His comment was awesome, he said " Actually what was I supposed to notice? What I see is a very beautiful young woman that I am proud to call my wife." We were married for almost 28 yrs at the time of his death at 48 yrs old.....He was the most amazing man. I remarried a few years ago. I met another man that NEVER asked a question....EVER. Although this time I did bring it up after he told me that he had been diagnosed with Polio at 5 yrs old. (he spend 12 yrs in braces and wheelchairs). He had a Phys.Ed teacher who had to learn to walk from a polio diagnosis as well. When my 2nd DH was 14 yrs old, he met that teacher who helped change his life. You would never know my 2nd DH had polio...unless he's extremely tired....then you notice a limp....His Physical Education teacher spent 3 yrs helping my DH become the awesome man he is today. It is amazing what people ask....I still get asked occasionally.....sometimes if I feel their being genuine and not just being nosey....I will tell them, but most of the time, I'll come up with some smart-ass answer. I have gotten old enough to realize I really don't owe anyone an explanation period.
Most annoying for me is when people assume I'm a veteran and go straight to "where did you serve?" and "so proud of you, thank you for your serivice" as if it's the only possibility for missing an arm. So interesting to hear you mention some of the same exact comments. I don't mind a child asking those things but it often amazes me it's the adults with the stupidest questions. Btw, really glad I discovered your channel!
Just found your channel and I’m entertained as a fellow amputee(left arm below the elbow) I can relate so funny I have been asked all of these questions 100 times!
I have my left arm both legs and right middle finger and the one I hate is " your so inspirational!" or any version of that!! I just want to scream what about this could possibly inspire you?!?! Lol or the " do you have to pay full price to get your nails done? Cause I'm really trying to get acrylics to draw attention to the fact that you can count on me, but only to four style I'm pimping over here! Lol
I would never ask anyone any of those questions. If I get to know someone who happens to be an amputee, and they want to volunteer the information, they will. I use an upright walker to walk more than short distances because my lower back is messed up. People tend to treat me like I'm mentally deficient because of my walker. I also hate the "you're such an inspiration" thing. No, I'm not. I'm just a person trying to take a walk and it helps to use a support device so my back doesn't end up in screaming pain.
Most annoying question is How do you do your work? And then they started to ask really stupid questions about personal stuff and I hate when ppl ask every single shit then they are like oh it happens God have a BIG PLAN for you
Dear Lord I've heard all those stupid questions. My kids hate the rude ones, made the boys want to pick fights. Bad news is no matter how old I get, the stupid questions and comments still annoy me. I just try to be patient😑.
I’m not missing an arm but I am missing my right pinky and I’ve heard a lot of these before lol. Some common ones for four fingered people are thing relating to yoda and “high four!”. I’d love to hear some original funny jokes abt my hand but it’s always the same ones.then I have to pretend to think it’s funny or they’ll think I’m offended. So sometimes I’ll just act super offended as a joke.
Omg I JUST FOUND UR CHANNEL I’m not amputee but I was born with one arm I actually love you so much it’s so hard to find people out there who kinda share there story and everything ♥️ ... and I love this video it’s so hilarious I can relate soooo much Hahahaha
Hi Megan my name is John I'm also an amputee lost half of my left arm back in the late 90s I've been asked all kinds of crazy questions and sometimes it pretty annoying because most of the time it's adults and sometimes I think it's just rude but when kids ask I try to make up a good story to make them understand a little bit better as for the adults I tell them a story to make them embarrassed and 99 percent of the time they just walk away .lm pretty good at calling out people and putting them in their place so if you would like to have one of my stories let me know I've had 20 plus years of practice LOL
I hope I'm not being rude but did u have to learn to write with the other hand or did u lose the arm that u don't write with? If that makes any sense! xxx love you soooo much!! xxx ❤❤
I have a friend who has one arm and he does gaming live streams. Someone in chat asked "where'd your arm go?" He responded "Don't know, mate. I think it's gone to Spain for the summer."
I am surprised at how non-thinking people can be when randomly approaching you with these kinds of questions. And yet I think about you almost daily wondering “how does Megan deal with this situation?” (I did just break my arm and am struggling but I know that it in no way compares to having only on one arm.) Even before I broke my arm I was led to your video about putting your hair up with one arm and I couldn’t do it! Still can’t and it’s pissing me off! I honestly think of you every day and think, “if Megan can do this/figure this out I will not get pissy about my temporary frustration.” I hope this thought comes across as respectfully intended (and please tell me if not), I wonder if my frustration would be easier (I KNOW that is no gonna be accurate) if I knew I would never again be able to use (have) my arm. I’m guessing that sounds really stupid, petty and ignorant. I’m just genuinely sharing the thoughts I have and am open to feedback. I like your channel and content (and you) because it’s honest and real. I’m always seeking to understand and learn. I’m grateful to you for putting yourself out there and answering so many questions.
Really funny...and some of those questions are relatable if people have or have had serious limb injury. But I am not really sure why being called an inspiration would be annoying. If people are inspired by someone else's accomplishments, i hope that would be positive.
Girl!!! I so feel where your coming from because I'm a paraplegic amputee who every single day gets questions exactly like the first 5 you said!! I'm actually blown by how many of the exact questions you get, ONLY DIFFERENCE IS... I'M MISSING MY LOWER RIGHT LEG, and I'm so so interested in making a channel for the same reasons, to inform, and inspire..I JUST DON'T HAVE THE FUNDS OR MEANS TO GET STARTED... PHONE OR 📷 WISE
So any question or thing we say to you that is about your missing arm is annoying? Are there things we can ask/say that are okay? Could you do a video about that?
I always have to deal with them kinda question is so annoying but still answer them but sometimes I tell em something crazy just to see they reaction but than I tell em the truth lol 😆 😅 🤷
The one I see that makes me the most angry is, "if that happened to me... I would just die... OR... I would just kill myself." That makes me so flippin' angry. That is basically saying that if there is one thing that has happened to you... you shouldnt be alive. Grrr! "Um, if my face looked like yours... I would kill myself." It is the same thing people! Use your damn brain & dont say shit like that!
Use thos dumb questions to plug your UA-cam channel lol. "How do you drive" well the funny thing is I have this UA-cam channel that talks all about it, you should check it out!
Everybody ask sooner or later, .. that's just normal human behavior, as an amputee of 50+ years I'm certain of that. How it's asked makes all the difference. I've had guys come up to me in bars and blurt out, " so, how'd you lose your arm?" Assholes like that get the standard answer, .. "none of your fucking business." Conversely, I've had children come up and either ask outright or merely point "you only have one arm". And, once, after I explained to this cute little girl that who couldn't have been more than about 8, "yes, I only have one arm". she said "that sucks". To which I could only reply, .. "ah, .. yeah, sometimes it does". The best part of those encounters with young children is seeing the mortified look on their parent's faces. My personal peeve is when people tell me that my one arm is twice as strong. No, it ain't. They've no idea how condescending that is but I realize they are trying to be "nice", so I just roll with it. I realize people are trying to say the "right thing" or just something positive so I try not to make a big deal about it. But, I figured out a LONG time ago that it's a two handed world that I inhabit in and, I can either deal with it as best I can or assume the position of "victim". And, victim is not merely about the physical challenges but the social ones as well. I'm neither a victim because of my amputation nor the ignorance of others. Losing my arm while horrific and dramatic wasn't necessary tragic. It certainly changed the arch of my life but I can't say for the worst. Case in point, I've always longed to play the guitar and piano. I've frequently ruminated on the fact that losing an arm deprived me of that possibility. Then, I bought a harmonica. I can't make a sound out of that thing that doesn't sound like cats in a blender. That's when I realized that perhaps me losing my arm didn't deprive the world of either a guitar or piano virtuoso. Bottom line, for me, it's a two handed world so it's best to get to the getting. Life is hard, . and there is no punch line to that it's just hard. But, when it's hardest and you achieve, .. well that gives one a feeling you can't beat with a stick, regardless of the number of limbs one has or has not.
This was really funny but I actually wondered a few times if you can drive, lol Like, some of these are genuine interesting questions on how you do stuff one-handed, but HOW do people feel the need to come up to someone they don't know and ask them how they lost their limb. I just can't wrap my head around it. It's normal to be curious but come on.
The problem for the rest of us is that the list of "Ok Questions" is different for every case. So you rules don't match his rules nor their rules. So I guess the answer is to avoid the elephant in the room. You are the only person like you that almost anybody has met (unless you're in an amputee conclave of some sort) so there is either spoken or unspoken curiosity but no Emilie Post book one how to navigate. I understand your point...but there are no constants about this. Anyhow that's my "rest of the story"....
Hmm I never actually wondered this before you said it but DO you get half price at a nail salon? To me, that would make total sense... I mean, they are doing half the work right? I’d want a discount if I only had one arm and needed a manicure. Like fuck, gotta live with one arm, might as well get a break somewhere.
fractal astronaut I have wondered the same thing! I have one hand and I've never had my nails done because I don't want to ask. Maybe I should just ask!!
Amy McRae My wife is a wheelchair user but she never gets such silly questions. Maybe that's because we live in Belgium (Europe) where people generally know how to interact with other people...?
Ferry Groothedde Oh my gosh, I get them aaaalllll the time when I go out. Not always these exact questions obviously, but the wheelchair equivalent of them. It’s exhausting.
Lol at the will your kids have 1 arm question! Like do your kids have 1 brain cell?? Seriously though do you pay full price at the nail salon orrrr....?
Ok but as somehow who does nails for a living I’m so curious if you pay full price... I don’t know what I would do if I had a client with a similar situation. 🙃🙃
Wow you answer a lot different questions. You are still very brave girl and beautiful amazing. Yes my goal be to make a video by just using my one hand to do some work and to post a video. May God bless you and watch over you
Lololol. They thought I was Bethany Hamilton when I like really blond hair they like you that Surfer girl LOL LOL. LOL girl is so hilarious cuz it's so true I got so many of the same exact responses from people. You been like how do you put your bra on how do you get dressed ect ect hilarious. and I've gotten my teaching degree so I was around kids for so long and now I'm a nanny and new construction Landscaping excetera but yeah I'm around kids all the time is like can I see can I show me your arm where what's in there what happened can I talk to you I look kids trying to live my shirt off to look at my arm trying to go underneath me to Pier up my sleeve LOL. Orchids every single day when I was Camp counseling for like 4 years straight the same exact kids asked me the same exact questions like everyday for months. Looks like we can't get mad at people can't get mad at kids especially but man it's like you try to be cool about it at first then like years go by and you're all right and then like you try to just laugh it off sometimes but it's like come on like all right enough LOL. But yeah it's like I don't think that'll ever change me until we get me be really old like in our 50 60s or something people won't you asked but maybe they will I don't know people are mad nosy sometimes LOL. But it could be worse you know I mean at least we're just missing our arms and not legs I would imagine it be harder to get around if you're missing like your bottom lenzi no
" At least you're still pretty!" What the actual Frugen Fiffle Waffles? Who would say something like that? LOL I laugh at people when they ask "How far along are you?" "When is the baby due?" "How did you lose your arm?" is not such a bad question if they're already in conversation with you, but I wouldn't start with that.
your right its not a bad question its actually a really good question but some people don't want to remember how it happened.
This is funny haha!

Do u have to pay full price to get your nails done? I'm dead😂😂😂
I hope I'm not being rude but did u have to learn to write with the other hand or did u lose the arm that u don't write with? If that makes any sense! xxx love you soooo much!! xxx ❤❤
Eve Wylie she was always right handed.
My disability is in my voice. People asks me all of those questions. It can be quite annoying.
Yes Megan, you made me laugh...and thank you!!! :D :D
I have a friend who has one arm and he does gaming live streams. Someone in chat asked "where'd your arm go?" He responded "Don't know, mate. I think it's gone to Spain for the summer."
Tell him ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
Jim Waterbuffalo 😂😂😂
She’s crisp lovely funny x
Hi ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
So any question or thing we say to you that is about your missing arm is annoying? Are there things we can ask/say that are okay? Could you do a video about that?
I always have to deal with them kinda question is so annoying but still answer them but sometimes I tell em something crazy just to see they reaction but than I tell em the truth lol 😆 😅 🤷
ALL OF THESE HAPPEN TO ME!! 😂👏
dont worry
Ok but now I’m curious... do you pay full price at the nail salon?
I like the eye chart behind you :-)
Lol this is gold
someone at school asked me, “is your mom bethany hamilton?” 😭🙏
The one I see that makes me the most angry is, "if that happened to me... I would just die... OR... I would just kill myself." That makes me so flippin' angry. That is basically saying that if there is one thing that has happened to you... you shouldnt be alive. Grrr! "Um, if my face looked like yours... I would kill myself." It is the same thing people! Use your damn brain & dont say shit like that!
I just hope those kinds of comments don't come often. They shouldn't, as you say, come at all.
Today ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
But, when it's hardest and you achieve, .. well that gives one a feeling you can't beat with a stick, regardless of the number of limbs one has or has not.
ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
This was really funny but I actually wondered a few times if you can drive, lol
Like, some of these are genuine interesting questions on how you do stuff one-handed, but HOW do people feel the need to come up to someone they don't know and ask them how they lost their limb. I just can't wrap my head around it. It's normal to be curious but come on.
Haha, this was funny. Well done. Can you make a selection of your replies video? 😅💕
Loved the video and your beautiful Miraculous Medal😊
When you wake up in the morning do you feel your arm. Do you know what I’m asking?😂🤷♂️
Love your outfit 😍 and where is your necklace from? 😘
you are so pretty omg!!!
So funny! Love this!
PMSL! 🤣 So relatable as a wheelchair user.
Amy McRae And you live in the USA I assume?
Ferry Groothedde Canada!
I m from Austria and a wheelchair user, and I get also such silly questions all the time!!
One armed skilled human 👍
On the contrary, do you ever get funny jokes or puns you like from people?
I am just special made is all.
ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
I can’t believe people actually ask these questions
Lol at the will your kids have 1 arm question! Like do your kids have 1 brain cell?? Seriously though do you pay full price at the nail salon orrrr....?
Ok but as somehow who does nails for a living I’m so curious if you pay full price... I don’t know what I would do if I had a client with a similar situation. 🙃🙃
KB should be half price as will take half the time surely
KB i get half price lol
@@meganabsten ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
Megan you get better looking each day xxx
Well ... DO you get a discount at the nail salon? Sorry, I couldn't help it.
Wow you answer a lot different questions. You are still very brave girl and beautiful amazing. Yes my goal be to make a video by just using my one hand to do some work and to post a video. May God bless you and watch over you
Was it just me or did anyone spent the whole time trying to read the sign in the background
People do the same thing to me!
ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
Haha... people are sooo stupid... Thanks for your videos
Bethany Hamilton likes this
But it could be worse you know I mean at least we're just missing our arms and not legs I would imagine it be harder to get around if you're missing like your bottom lenzi no
Lucky day ua-cam.com/video/YVrkd-rTMZ4/v-deo.html
