Luffy acts like a total idiot to the point where even his own crew, regardless of how long they’ve been with him, wonders if he’s just really lucky but in combat he shows an understanding of strategy and creativity that proves that his understanding and cunning is so far above average that even the Marine Commanders take fights with him very seriously.
@@thudlite4319 i think it's more experience than anything else, i mean in the childhood-arc(with Ace and Sabo) we saw him training, learning how to use the Gomu Gomu fruit, he goes from a constantly crying kid, to the guy we met at the beginning of the story. Also i think it's easy to understand that Nami's cartography-room in Arlong Park is her "prison", Arlong even says that, how he blackmailed her by using her village(friends and family) as hostages...i mean Rufy is smart enough to understand sentences. I think he is really empathic, he understands pain and misery, and because he is a nice guy, wants to help without being overbearing(that's why he usually waits for people to ask for his help)
@@derokdeathaxe6984 Another point is that Luffy has never involved innocents in his battles and even loses his shit when other pirates like Doflamingo and Blackbeard do. He puts a high price on innocent lives, which is what makes him a dangerous man to cross.
Luffy doesn't wait for people to ask he will do it if he is asked but alot of the time he will do it out of his own will. E.g. water 7, marineford arc. Two times where he went out of his way to help. In alabasta Vivi asked for help so Luffy helped but it isn't always like that
if robin had said she dont want to live... luffy would have left that same moment ... luffy understands people well .. and maineford... ace is brother with whom he grew . so thats explains enough...

Arlong Park is one of the most advanced arcs animation and story wise for its time. I can understand why they would want to keep the same art style for like 800+ episodes, but it really hurt the series down the road.
I'm reading One Piece for the first time now (I'm currently on Arabasta arc). In past years, I had heard a lot of people saying One Piece only gets good after like 300-400 episodes. With this in my mind, I started One Piece with not too high expectations. BOY WAS I WRONG! One Piece was enjoyable from the very first chapter and there was no chapter that I didn't like. However! If I'd name one arc that made me absolutely FALL IN LOVE with One Piece for the first time, my answer is: Arlong Park! This arc is just magical! I cried reading it so much, and Nami became my favorite character by the end of it. I love how Oda is not only good at world-building and storytelling, but he's also a MASTER when it comes to writing characters! Nami is such a PERFECT female protagonist and seeing even an average female character in Shonen is NOT something that you see everyday. I can't even express how much I love Nami and her story. I had already loved Sanji's backstory, but Nami's was on a whole another level! (and now, Chopper's is also on Nami's level imo) Long story short, Arlong Park is where One Piece goes from "good" to "perfect." I'm sure I'm gonna witness a lot more decent arcs, but Arlong Park and Nami's story will always have a special place in my heart💗

@@vegaN3GA im in skypeia arc around episode 180 but for me, this series so far the first saga was the best, intros of the main crew and their backstory was so good, especially sanji and nami. the alabasta was good and skypeia is medium for me, but i feel like the start was the strongest so far
