- “I got to high five Oprah, so... there you go.” This is how Dua Lipa sums up being part of British Vogue’s history-making March 2024 cover shoot - the last of Edward Enninful’s six-and-a-half-year tenure. Together with his long-time collaborator Steven Meisel, Enninful managed to assemble no fewer than 40 former cover stars - trailblazing media moguls, original supermodels and Oscar winners among them - in one room on one day in Manhattan. Cindy Crawford showed Anya Taylor-Joy where the camera was, and Maya Jama had a moment with her GOAT, “Somali legend” Iman, all while Meisel blasted ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ over the speakers. As Linda Evangelista says, “What a dream.” Watch the film in full to see Jane Fonda, Naomi Campbell, Miley Cyrus and more reflect on sisterhood, fashion as a force for good, and what Edward means to them.

I love the concept and definitely enjoyed this video, but the hypocrisy of vogue highlighting the huge effect of fashion on the climate crisis and yet on their Instagram I couldn’t even find the tags of all the women featured, instead it’s just all the luxury brands each lady is wearing its honestly just hilarious. Ah the human condition - It's nice and natural to have a hierarchy of beauty and accomplishments in the world. Edward, I love the work you have done - you put American Vogue to shame, you have made a unique imprint on the voices "we" hear - however it makes me morose to see this is where we have landed - this is what we value, the wealthy and beautiful enough to make it - where are we looking for real ideas on our existence?

"I believe it's important to discuss real problems that people face on the planet. Why do leaders of the LGBT and body-positive communities not take any action to protect those suffering from military actions? Instead of focusing on solving such critical issues, it seems they pay more attention to their own concerns. Why haven't they invited those who are fighting against military conflicts and helping those who have suffered from them to the interview? Where is the voice of those who truly need help, for example, where is Bella Hadid in this interview?
Bella is taking a hiatus from modeling and been dropped from some brands for being so vocally pro-Palestine. Gigi had much similar views but later apologized for her stance on Israel.
At the end of the day-Vogue is only socially conscious to make other rich people feel good about themselves. It does not benefit the average every day person to be advertised a $1200 prada coat.
I actually like Vogue as a fashion resource, but I have no idea why they act so “progressive” when their business practices are anything but. They should stick to makeup and expensive clothing.
