Great video, Sir. I have been missing the islands and am trying to get some of my friends to travel up with me for a trip. I have found myself trying to many people throughout the years what the San Juan’s are and why we should travel 5 hours to them. I just got the idea that UA-cam videos might be a better way to convince them. Yours is the best one I’ve found so far.
Thank you very much for the very nice comment. It's funny, I go to the islands all the time and my house overlooks the ferry terminal in Anacortes - however, I don't usually stay on the islands very long (go for work, leave). I should spend more time as they are pure magic. I hope you get there soon.
Does look pretty but I live in the mountains of Idaho and doubt I'll ever go there again. Looks so different from when I lived there. I graduated from FHHS in 1963. Lived off and on there over the years for a total of 25 year, ending in 1993. Too many people and land use regulations so I moved east, but as I remember earlier times, I'm glad I raised my family there.
I hope you and everyone else who has seen and experienced the beauty and tranquility of the San Juans gets to enjoy them again. I am from Vancouver WA, but my grandpa lived up there for years. I visited him there a handful of times and have returned a couple of times with friends and showed them lute island and not a lot of SW Washingtonians are aware of the beauty to be found up in the North part of the state
Actually, Fidalgo Island is NOT part of the San Juan Archipelago, so not one of the San Juan Islands. All the San Juan Islands are encompassed in San Juan County as per the USGS. Fidalgo Island is Skagit County. Btw, I am a proud resident of San Juan Island.
@@carmenw.9617 Good to know. But it remains true, that Anacortes isn't on the mainland, but on Fidalgo Island. I'm not going to do the research, but I suspect those islands were formed from the same geologic processes, no matter our arbitrary naming/labels. Including Canada's 'Gulf Islands'.

Thank you for the comment and some historical context. It certainly isn't the wildnerness that I suppose it once was.

Beautiful corner of the world!
Very special area...thanks for the comment.
FYI Anacortes is not part of the mainland. It is on one of the San Juan Islands - Fidalgo Island. You can drive to it, thanks to some bridges.
You're totally right - slip of the tongue. The funny thing is, I live in Anacortes. Cheers.
@@traveleaz Glad I'm not the only one who messes up. I live in Portland area, and love going to the Islands. Absolutely beautiful area.
It is! Love the Oregon coast - nearish to you.
