The country was dying at this point. You could tell something was not right in the country 6 months earlier at the November parade, but by the time of this parade, you could really see the country was dying. And then November 1990 was essentially the USSR funeral parade.
@@RedSamurai84 Yeah it's very sad to watch. Even the applause for Gorbachev and the Central Committee were as sorry as anything compared to the applause and cheers Brezhnev got in the earlier parades. I'll never understand why the party didn't oust him like they did Malenkov and Khrushchev.

It was done to commemorate the victory in ww2. And I guess the soviet people needed something inspirational. They had recently lost their eastern European empire( and the cold war) and there was discontent among the non russian republics in the baltics. A parade is usually done to commemorate something or to boost the country's morale. The Soviet people needed a morale booster badly. Unfortunately their country collapsed in December 1991.
Because the Country Is collapsing politically and economical,in the video is 9th May 1990,Lithuania had already declared indipendence at that point, there were several rebellions all alone the Union, for example Baku in January of the same year, had Lost the entire Warsaw Pact, that the following year Will be abolished Yes,i know there are errors
Because so there were so many rebellions and killings happening throughout the country. Local communist party bosses were stealing everything. Ethnic elites wanted to rule over their own republic as an independent country. Lithuania had already declared independence. Berlin Wall had fallen in 1989 and Warsaw Pact was de facto dead by the time of this parade. Soviet economy experienced a recession for the first time since 1945. The mighty soviet empire which was one of the strongest empires the world had ever seen was collapsing under its own weight.
Wrong. 1991 coup purpose is to prevent the 3 side treaty of ending the existence of USSR. At that time every aspect that created Soviet Union were inactivated. About "democracy" USSR, it will never happen. Communism is the main factor united the Soviet Republic amongst Russia. Without an ideology the nationalist movement in these republics will kill each other exactly like what happened in reality during last three decades. "Democracy" didn't work .

Ya of course
Gees the Gorbachev years were so depressing...so sad not seeing all the glorious Republics' flags on the poles and their emblems on the Kremlin walls....
An extension called Transpose, with Transpose set to 2, Pitch set to 0.05, and Speed set to 102%, it's close to the 1985 national anthem.

I’m assuming that the defense minister is Marshall Yazov?
Yes, however he unfortunately passed away last February in 2020.
This is all well and good, but *where* are they marching to? Do they just come to a point and go "well, that was fun, let's go home"?
It was done to commemorate the victory in ww2. And I guess the soviet people needed something inspirational. They had recently lost their eastern European empire( and the cold war) and there was discontent among the non russian republics in the baltics. A parade is usually done to commemorate something or to boost the country's morale. The Soviet people needed a morale booster badly. Unfortunately their country collapsed in December 1991.
One of the only sunny parades.
1:48 Moscow Parade Fanfare its just opening

what is the song before invincible and legendary
I think that might be: Марш танкистов - March of Tankists
I take it Preobrajensky March wasn't used often in Soviet times.
its crazy in 1990 they were still yelling URAAA but i think that is amazing

Why does the anthem sound so sad in the later parades?
Because the Country Is collapsing politically and economical,in the video is 9th May 1990,Lithuania had already declared indipendence at that point, there were several rebellions all alone the Union, for example Baku in January of the same year, had Lost the entire Warsaw Pact, that the following year Will be abolished
Yes,i know there are errors
Because so there were so many rebellions and killings happening throughout the country. Local communist party bosses were stealing everything. Ethnic elites wanted to rule over their own republic as an independent country. Lithuania had already declared independence. Berlin Wall had fallen in 1989 and Warsaw Pact was de facto dead by the time of this parade. Soviet economy experienced a recession for the first time since 1945. The mighty soviet empire which was one of the strongest empires the world had ever seen was collapsing under its own weight.
Yes.
Da
It's most unfortunate that the 1991 coup happened had it not the USSR would have survived and become a democracy.
What’s the song after 51:11
My Moscow march (current Moscow's anthem)
