I never quite understand the backlight without passthrough keycaps. It's pure asthetics and not functional at all. If the room lighting is dim or low, the RGB backlight would just create even more contrast with the keycaps, causing the keycaps to not be visible.
RGB is mostly for looks
I agree 100%. It’s pretty hard to find good keyboards with actual lighted caps. For me personally it makes a big visibility difference given my poor closeup vision.
finally someone voiced this :)) Especially South facing RGBs are very annoying at that.
I bought mine about 5 months ago, and I love it
I've had mine for two months and I like it too
Wow, Keychron finally uses a dongle as well? Thanks for the video, very nice!
I got this 6 months ago with the mint switches. Best keyboard ever.
@ETA PRIME If you like customizable mechanical keyboards, you should give the Redragon horus k618 low profile keyboard. It is cheaper but it has an aluminum frame, wireless and your choice of switches. The switches i have are red and sound the same as yours. Its a cheaper version but you dont see it as cheaply made. I absolutely love it. Give it a try, you wont regret it.
I wish the charging interval in backlit wireless mode would be longer. Click anxiety. Thanks for mentioning the battery range: 80h
So nice!
I got this keyboard because of this video and I quite like it. The brown switches feel great and aren't loud at all (especially compared to my previous full size brown cherry mx). HOWEVER their quality control isn't good because the keyboard wobbled out of the box, I had to bend it back straight with my bare hands and it still wants to wobble every now and again (may have to put some more force into it). Seems to be a common issue online. Also their firmware update software is buggy, instead of updating my firmware it flashed the wrong one, making my K1 think it's a K11, so I had to perform a factory reset. So yeah, not hassle free at all, but when it's working and it doesn't wobble it's awesome.
Looking for keychron to release this with ISO layout and nordic europe key legends.
I got the K4 with red switches and I'm very satisfied with the quality. My first and hopefully last mecha kb!
Not til you hand-wire a self-designed steel plate board and design your own QMK profile!
Hope they do an ISO/UK version...
k1e5 here. It's pretty good, but i heard someone had issues with bluetooth connection and battery.
The absolute beast of a keyboard for 2025.
Keyboard reviews? I don't think I've seen any ETA keyboard reviews. I am a bit of a keynut myself, more customized boards, but Keychron are decent pre-builts.
If they just put the smallest bezel around the edge I'd be buying. That's going to either need a bulky case or get destroyed in my bag.
can recommend the k3 pro and the nuphy 75v2 ... choosing between both atm... both anufactueres actually beasts
How would you compare it to the falchion rx low profile?
I have the old K1 , these key caps are bigger ?
How come other wireless keyboards last 6+ months on battery but this one gets 2-3 weeks with dongle and no backlight? That battery isn't even small. Whats the point of wireless if you gotta charge it that often.
Mostly because of the polling rate and that is has its own arm cpu
I've been using k1 for years, and have two, both are red switches, and I love it.
How does this sound compared to K1 Pro?
As much as I love all low profile keyboards it's still quite noisy for me. Plus the RGB doesn't light up the letters. I have a Logitech MX mini it has trash software but it covers all the bases I needed
The problem is they use abs keycaps which will get shiny over time and you can change the keycaps because they use non standard stabilizers
My wife has one of these. Its kind of hard to gind cool keycaps for them. Also, she had to warranty her battery.
what is that other keyboard though?
I've usually heard Gateron pronounced as "gat-er-on" but now I'm not sure which is right
It for sure isn't gate-ron. You're correct that it's gat-er-on.
Review more keyboards 😊
Shxtt looks crazy❌️🧢I like it
where is the sound test?
I wish the keys themselves were backlit so it could be used in the dark
If you learn to type, every keyboard can be used in the dark!
@@notreallydaedalus i know how to touch type. If you didn't make lame assumptions about people maybe you'd have actual friends in life
Keychron sells separately keycaps for that. But they are aways sold-out
1:18 I'm not sure what do you mean by "company jumping to bandwagon ..."? Keychron is one of the companies that are building a lot of low-profile keyboards models in their lineup. They didn't jump the low-profile keyboard bandwagon.
I miss their actual low profile keyboards, feels like they made 3 then switched to only thicc bois and every single one of their keyboards have the left control, windows key and alts in the wrong positions. Now if I want a low profile I have to get a Dell KB700.
Does this keyboard support Linux?
Yes
Does this also come in the 100% keys?
Look into the nuphy air96. Haven’t seen a 100% low profile yet
Yea k5 max
$125 for a keyboard?! Are there budget alternatives that work good?
Tons. Depends on what you want. I use 75% but lots of TKL. Royal Kludge M75 on sale for $80. Leobog Hi75. Akko 5075B. Keychron C3 Pro is not hotswap and only reds, but $30. Many others sub $90.
Many of us would argue that $125 is a budget board...
I’d get the Nuphy Air75 v2 instead.
bluetooth should be more battery save compared with 2.4ghz
Hi
Try the v10 max sir ;)
Bro why did you get rid off the intro? I didn't recognized your channel because of it
What is the factuation with loud clicking keys sounds, I like silent keys and keystrokes... this is the only reason I have yet to buy any gaming Mouse & Keys.
I can't stand loud clicking keys, I use a low profile full keyboard w/ just white back-lit, and ultra silent...
Like I wear headset with everything and don't want immersion broken hearing extra sound clicking not gaming or movie/youtube surfing related.
I really like this keyboard, but man I wish it was silent
Could not live with that thin enter key. Got it on my laptop, hate it. Otherwise this looks smooth as f.
Isn't it standard for mechanical keyboard
This is a standard ANSI layout. I don’t like the thin Enter key either, but that’s all we get in the US.
@@jbgreen27 ah ye, im european so a large enter key is imprinted in my muscle memory. Having major issues with hitting ' instead of 'enter' on my current Lenovo Yoga. Almost tempted to re-bind the ' key. :)
A very nice Keyboard, but too much noisy for me.
Thats what you get when using a mechanical keyboard. This one is pretty silent imo with the red switches. Get the apple magic keyboard you want something silent.
Pirpipur what? 0:21
Why would anyone want a noisy keyboard? How annoying. Does it jave a silent option?
$124 on Amazon.
get ready for that SQUEAKY noises from that red switches after 2 weeks +-
Best computer system in 2024 , a dell intel core i9. Ram 32gb , 24 core cpu 6.0ghz.
Your thumbnail says m1 max lol
Hard to go back to mechanical with all the dust issues after using optical switches for a while.. but damn keychron builds some beautiful boards.
What you mean by dust issue, please share your story, I would like to know as my homeplace is getting dust alot recently cuz of construction
@@mbk0mbk Every time you depress the key, there is a gap as the stem travels downwards and dust can enter your switch. Over time, it might gum up the switch contacts. Some maintenance need to be performed once in a while (opening it up and cleaning it). You can consider 'Box' style switches (stems with sidewalls) though.
@@mbk0mbk Ahh, dust can get into mechanical switches, and usually causes double input issues rather than missed keys, but can do that as well. optical switches tend to be much more resistant to it.
If you have that much dust, maybe consider filtering it…
V3 from minisforum wya im curious 😭
gat-eh-ron, not gate-ron
Derp first.
I'm using a typewriter no need for this
I use the sensor keyboard built into my smartphone more often, so yeah...
But in terms of Feels Per Seconds mechanical keyboard is a must.
Very clacky, i prefer more of a thock but still nice looking.
This keyboard is like 4 years old at this point?
The regular K1 might be, not the MAX or Pro variants.
Useless in the dark
Waste of money skip
personally I think it sounds terrible...
So what's the point of this ~backlight~ sidelight again? How is it supposed to help typing in dim environments? Or is it just for RGB kiddos to enjoy those silly light flashes? Quite pathetic then
Way overpriced for a keyboard and rather loud keys too.
Nuphy air has no peer yet
