Hello, thank you for these videos. I have watched a number of your videos. I am black and living in the U.S. I started to watch your videos and those of Eve van der Hoop because I couldn't find instruction for African baskets, as well as other African fiber weaving that used twining. I have also watched Betty Frogg as she taught how to make twined bags. She's from the midwest. The African baskets that I saw in books sometimes have similar motifs to Northwest Coast and Maori taaniko weavings. It is not my intention to try to reproduce ceremonial blankets, but to weave with the twining technique. Twining feeels right (?) to my hands. It feels right even though I need to relax my grip on the weaving so I don't cramp up. I'm just learning with an online course taught by Verenoa Hetet. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and let you know that your teaching has a far reach and is greatly appreciated. It amazes me how the technology of the internet has made learning so accessible to so many people. With all of you teacher weavers, I feel like I have found something very important that I didn't know was missing. Hope thst makes sense.

Hello, my Tlingit name is Tsoonklah, I’d like to learn weaving Chilkat blankets. I have vintage photos of my (Great?) Great-Great-Grandfather Chief Shakes VII in his Chilkat blanket & a carved figurine wearing one. I am a certified tribal artist but I make “modern” fiber art, dye yarns, beadwork, various art & really want to learn historical methods.
