And not every Shia Muslim beliefs or acts the same. The concept of "Shiism" doesn't exist because it is not a separate religion. These are MUSLIMS who choose the side of Ali ibn Abi Talib when it comes to the first Fitnah. So no, being a Shia means you are a Muslim who chooses Ali and the Ahl al Bayt of the holy prophet (pbuh). Open a book.

As a Shiite, I must share my disappointment and disdain for the movie. It disturbs me that so many Shia would praise this work, and while I understand that it's a leap forward to have our interpretation of history heard by the non-Shia world, it was a terrible and sabotaging portrayal of our views. This movie serves the Sunni narrative more than it does the Shia account. "How?" you might ask, and the answer is outlined in the items below:
1- The main quarrel for me: the movie portrayed Imam Ali (AS) as weak, soft, and lacking in both strategic vision and in the ability to prioritize the best interests of his 'ummah' over his own emotional state, والعياذ بالله. The CGI character portraying Amir Al-Mu'mineen lacked any charisma and the aura you would expect from a divinely chosen/appointed leader (hint 1). Sure, you could attribute this to the modest budget production, and sure, it isn't like James Cameron was behind the special effects, but that's exactly why you shouldn't be trying to depict the faces of al-ma'soumeen: so you don't misrepresent and weaken their character, which is exactly what this film did for me. If Imam Ali was in fact as weak and timid as he was depicted in this film, then we shouldn't be wearing this Zulfiqar necklace, better off getting an Excalibur one to honor the King Arthur as portrayed by Charlie Hunnam. This alone made me cringe the whole time watching. Shame for this alone.
2- it portrayed Umar, Abu Bakr, and Aisha as particularly despicable characters, in several ways. While we might agree that they ultimately seized power from he who we (Shia) believe to be the more qualified, the movie emphasized nastiness in their looks, their facial expressions, voices, and most concerning: in their body language, and this cannot be substantiated by narrations from books of hadith. This was a display of baseless hatred and it suggests that Shia are susceptible to buying BS so long as the BS is wrapped in a cute "Ahlul Bayt" wrapping (hint 2), استغفر الله.
3- the movie actually shows that while Imam Ali was busy crying at home (the excuse being that he was in extreme mourning), the Ummah was about to fall apart, and Abu Bakr was clever enough to step up to save a divided nation (hint 3), regardless of Ghadir Khum, which was basically a pointless address if Imam Ali was (as you've portrayed him) all but hiding under his bed instead of owning up to his responsibility. What a timid little boy you showed him to be.
4- the movie portrayed Bibi Fatima (AS) as a childish brat to be honest. If an average woman in today's world behaved the way she did in your presentation, I won't even say what we would call her behaviour.
5- the timing of this movie is suspicious. I won't say too much on this, because it has been a couple of years ago since the movie was released, but there is good reason to be mistrustful of those behind the production in this regard.
6- the borderline soft-core porn scene with Imam A. and Sayyeda F. with the suggestive "water pouring over the pots" immediately following their marriage ceremony. How dare you? Seriously, how do you dare think you can just pass over such holy intimacy like these are just some dudes you went to school with? I know for a fact I wasn't the only person watching that scene thinking "this is not okay". The lack of situational awareness is mind-boggling.
Overall, the production and the portrayal of our most prominent characters was a reflection of the personalities behind the work: petty, emotional, arrogant, lacking in strategic vision, susceptible to sugar-coated baseless BS, so long as it's wrapped in a Shia-friendly wrapper. You are not doing the Shia any favours by portraying Ahlul bayt (AS) as awful individuals and then playing victim. I thought it was shameful.

Whether or not the movie was made in the right way or not, whichever way that may be, it does not ‘divide’ Shias and Sunnis. It proves the division that both sides create.

They have sided with every war against the Muslims and in recent times Syria,Iraq,Afghanistan Yemen and the list goes on. They even brought a previously considered non Muslims president bashar al Assad in to the folds of Shiism in order to oppress Muslims. Now what’s your suggesting creating unity with these people would be to also accept the devil with all of his differences. So if I’m divided from the devil then it’s a good thing. If it is the truth let it be told. My, question, however, is how authentic is the source, especially, when Umar in Khattab (may Allah have mercy on him) pushed the door on Fatima (may Allah be pleased with her and her family).

The sources are very authentic according to the Shia belief and their standards of authenticity, and other parts of the event are found in authentic ’Sunni’ sources. Ibn Taymiyyah, for instance, admits that Abu Bakr ordered his men to break into Fatima’s house.

It is fitna, and it doesn't benefit the Ahlulbayt. The most successful Shia focused on results, and they looked at everything with a bird's eye-view. Insulting Sunni figures accomplishes nothing, and it is not of the conduct of our Imams. Imam Ali a.s never insulted Aisha even when he was literally, literally in the middle of a war with her. We have to use our intellect and think things through. If we want to reach the Sunnis, we need to apply wisdom.
Take Gaza for example. If you want a liberal to sympathize with Gaza, you mention the 15k dead children. But if you are speaking to a conservative that won't work. With a conservative, mention how much money and resources go to Israel. Same result, but achieved in two different ways.
With the Sunnis you have 3 approaches: You can put down their beloved figures ("be Shia because the sahaba were so bad"), you can highlight the nobility of the Ahulbayt ("be Shia because the Imams were so good"), or you can justify Shiism through the Prophet.
Why did ALY (AS) himself not confront and publicly criticize ABU BAKAR(RA) but co operated instead with his administration, instead of leaving the burden on his wife LADY FATIMAH (AS)?

I’m certain that the entire narrative of the door is false, but it is a narrative that exists and a country such as Kuwait or Morocco has a right to censor the film taking into consideration its culture and laws. The prophet was the best of morals and akhlaq. Yesman Habib and the gang openly insult respected Sunni figures under the guise of Lady Fatima. Rather than unity amongst the Muslims, he is pushing us apart and weakening Islam.
