Jamie's team basically has 4 players who like to come deep and can definitely pick a pass; but only one real runner in Mbappé... That's why I really like Micah's team, Vini, Haaland and Salah will stretch the defense like crazy, Pedri and Rodri's control of the midfield and ball distribution are goated, not to mention Jude doing his thing all over the pitch.

The level of talent we are seeing in football right now is unbelievable! LOOK AT THESE SQUADS!!!!
Probably the lowest level of the last 40 years actually. Just look at the lineups of the UCL and WC finals in the last years compared to the ones of 15/20 years ago or in the 90s.
There are no ballers anymore... Amazing athletes indeed but football was another thing back in times.
20 years ago for example you had Buffon and Casillas, defense with nesta, Cannavaro, Puyol, thuram, stam, Maldini, Roberto Carlos and cafu in the midfield you had Pirlo, xavi, iniesta in front Ronaldo, Zidane, del Piero, Totti, Ronaldinho, Kakà and I just mentioned the first ones coming to my mind... Football level kept decreasing and decreasing overtime. The majority of the players in the current top 11 would have warmed the bench 20/30 years ago.

Halaand and Mbappe are scoring 20-30+ goals a season in their early 20's. How do you not recognize them as "ballers"????
@@robbed1994 you didn't grow up watching them. You literally missed the 90s and you were too young to understand football at 6,9,12... If you watch any match of the early 2000s or 90s you see the difference in terms of quality and if you don't see it, well it's your problem.
But I'm no one for you of course because I'm writing on UA-cam behind a keyboard. Google the declarations/interview of all the players who have been playing in those years ending their careers in modern times, they all say the same: now it's about athleticism but the quality of the game itself is just low.
And the funny thing is that when you talk about R9 or Dinho for example, it's just ridiculous thinking that they wouldn't not able doing what they did... R9 was a mix of Messi and Ronaldo, just unstoppable. Dinho was pure magic. Zidane could keep the ball attached to his feet in every situation. Totti could have found a pass no matter how. Where are these players now? They would be alien nowadays.

Mbappe and Haaland would have been average players 20 years ago and would have warmed the bench 30 years ago.
Then, moreover, you are comparing the two best players in their roles right now (VVD and KDB) which are a rarity with players that basically were present in every single team back in time. There was a KDB or a VVD in every single team and, btw, a KDB can tight the shoes to Zidane and VVD can learn how to defend from Nesta for instance.
The game is more difficult? No, absolutely not... You always just take into consideration the difficulty factors without considering what makes it easier nowaday. It's faster? Yes I agree... You have less time to think? Yes I agree... Back in time even before receiving the ball you were beaten up. As soon as you tried to dribble you received a kick straight on your knees. A player like Haaland wouldn't be able to express his athleticism. Back in time you needed to be able touching the ball and master it otherwise the defenders were eating you alive (with the consent of the ref).

I agree that the game had more entertainers and magicians back in the day, for example, we do not have a real 10 position anymore. But this doesn't mean that skillful players are completely gone. Look at players like bernardo silva, rodri, hazard, neymar, pedri, bellingham, just to name a few. They don't produce a million backheel passes like Totti, or hundred chipped goals like Raul, but bernardo silva will turn and dribble past 3-4 players before laying a perfect through ball to Halaand, whom most would agree, has a 90% probability of finishing the chance. If you want to make the claim that the game is more soft, sure I would agree. But to say there is not enough quality or techincal ability is rubbish. Also, to compare defenders of yesterday and today makes no sense. Defenders have way better dribbling and passing than a majority of the defenders we grew up watching. My point is that different qualities are expected from different types of players now. It is the way the game is played that has changed, not the level.
