    Been watching a fair amount of reviews on this bike recently and it seems like a real gem. Thanks for the thorough review. BTW, your bike looks very well cared for. Take care.

    Daniel- Tks for time/trouble on the excellent video. Great photography and lucid explanationTks also for the links to vendors.I love my 2015 FJ and am considering upgrading to an 2019-20 Tracer 9 GT..Really like the mirrors and soft bags as well as the blinking tail eliminator.Great thing is I can't lose either way' upgrading with some of your mods or newer Tracer.Will decide come springtime. With the miles you have on it and the rains you ridden in it sure looks spotless and clean.

      I'm lucky enough to be able to keep it in the garage between rides and washes.

    I just bought a 2017 last weekend with less than 3,000 miles. This is a super helpful review (and set of links). Thank you.

    Hi Daniel, Im thinking of purchasing a Yamaha Tracer 900gt / FJ09 and selling my FJR1300. I enjoyed your informative review. Thank you Peter Australia. 👍😎

    Thanks for your review and discussion of your set-up. Question regarding comparison of your FJ09 vs FJR1300: what was your rationale for changing?

    • @dnlgrhm
      @dnlgrhm  5 років тому +2

      Thanks for your question. The rationale was the subject of an earlier video of mine: "Traded my FJR1300 for an FJ-09": ua-cam.com/video/BbEYpH083Kg/v-deo.html.

    With all the upgrades, you must ride pretty hard

      Not really, I just enjoy fiddling with the bike.

    Thanks for the very interesting review, and links. You didn't really mention the vibration. Did the replacement footpegs and the GripPuppies help that? And how is the throttle control on this bike, especially in lower gears--is there an abrupt on-off change in 1st gear?

    • @dnlgrhm
      @dnlgrhm  4 роки тому

      Vibration was never a problem. I mainly wanted the grip puppies to increase the diameter of the grip. Fueling was never abrupt but I had the ECU re-flashed by Vcyclenut and after that it was as smooth as butter.

    It looks like you re-used the bar ends that come stock on the bike. I just took my stock handguards off and measured the diameter of the stock bar end and it's 3/4" instead of 7/8". From my understanding, the CRG mirrors are meant for a 7/8" diameter. Were you able to mount the mirrors directly onto the stock bar ends?? I've been googling this for 20 minutes now and I want to order, just want to make sure they fit first... They're so expensive. And it would be nice to not have to buy an adapter bar end for clip on mirrors because those will never be as sturdy as these stock screw-in bar ends. Also I saw your vid with the scorpion exhaust, I bought the same last year in carbon and I love it :)

      That's a very good question. I remember vaguely that I had to fiddle with some stuff I had on hand to get them to fit but I can't remember exactly what I used now. My recollection is that there were parts from the barkbuster storm hand guards that I used but can't remember for sure. I'm sorry not to be of more help about this.

      No issues whatsoever. One of the many things I love about Yamaha's is that they run forever. Provided, of course, that they have received proper care.

    How is the bike for 2up all day riding?

    • @dnlgrhm
      @dnlgrhm  5 років тому +3

      I have no experience on which to base an opinion - my better half refuses to ride with me. She thinks motorcycles are dangerous and, get this, she rides a horse - when she isn't being thrown off anyway. My guess is that the FJR1300 that I traded for the FJ-09 would have been better for 2up, all-day riding. For rides of a few hours, I think the FJ-09 would be fine.

    Did you not feel planted on stock suspension?

    • @dnlgrhm
      @dnlgrhm  5 років тому +1

      Not as much. I weigh about 240 with gear and thus had the preload on the stock suspension cranked pretty well down. Taking corners on bumpy pavement always left me feeling that the tires, front especially, were never quite getting back to the pavement before the next bump. With the new, the feeling is that the tires never leave the pavement.

    2 yrs and only 8000 miles??
    That's a shelf bike 😂
    And so much mods.
    Definitely a hobby bike.. Not a rider bike.
    But good to see that you take care of your bike.

    Daniel I am trying to find those Mirror extenders you purchased but I am unable to find them. Any suggestions? When I try carlscycle.com I end up at Jp Cycle. Any idea where i can find those extenders?
