This piece takes its starting point from a quiddity sequence model of mathematician Karin Baur, which explores growth variations with infinite patterns in typology or rubber geometry.
Such topological triangulations give rise to rich numerical structures called frieze patterns. The study focuses on exploring growth which varies between arithmetic and exponential friezes, where borders can be bent, like in the underlying topological rubber geometry. By focusing on the limitations imposed by patterns formed when working with triangulations (where each unit has a maximum of 3 vertices), where the model has no superfluous points, a constrained environment is used to find compositional architectures where non-convergence of form is optimised.
After exploring architectural forms using these constraints, I became interested in the metaphysical nature of these 'borders of non-convergence'. It seemed a natural evolution to try to explore what these borders meant with sound. I imagine an instrument at each of the points, and the diagrams were developed according to phase developments of the sound, evolving over time. As I composed with this diagram development of the phases, there was a spiritual awakening in the process, where I was struck by the quietness of “breathing borders” as we were all forced to sit still, and ‘be’ at home. The representation of this inward looking moment, was highlighted by the current stillness of the planet, being forced to attractive privacies, where the breathing borders were still.

    _______
Composer 🎼 I’m an artist living in the beautiful country of Austria
I love to create music that is multifaceted, with polyphonic beauty and uses proportions from visual elements like renaissance architecture or ancient chakra wisdom.
My music is composed to move and touch the emotions, even if the mind can’t quite grasp its style.
Compositions like these are marvelous to hear live in a concert, to be in touch with the incredible artistry of musicians that are able to bring these works alive. All my music owes its presence to these talented people, who can bring my manuscripts, sometimes requiring much practice and patience to interpret the mystery that is not actually written on the page, but written between the notes and in the ether.
I’m glad that you share with me in the discovery of new sounds and music that is possible in this new era.
Thank you for listening and visiting my channel.
I post new videos in the evening 🙏🏻✨8pm Vienna
