It works!! Thank you so much!! I tried on Vmware Workstation 17 OS Kali Linux 2024.2. However, you need to answer [Y] to the question "Do you want to edit the driver options file now? (recommended) [Y/n]" , once the file opens you have to change option into USB3 mode to enable it
I tested your instructions and have now gotten so far that everything is recognized correctly. Thanks for that! Unfortunately, the adapter cannot be set to monitor mode. I get the following message: $ sudo iw dev wlan0 set type monitor command failed: Operation not supported (-95) My kernel version is: 6.10.11-amd64 Any Idea?
What Windows drivers did you download for the wireless adapter for the host OS? edit: It WORKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I had to update the Windows RTL881AU drive by going to Device Manager in Windows, right click on the wireless card adapter, Update, and let Windows update. Did not have to edit the driver option after the install within Kali. Using VMWare and latest Kali. Works in VirtualBox Kali, too.
Note of caution: If you are running the Plasma environment (or running this on a physical machine, rather than virtual- I'm not sure which it is), you may not be able to load into the system after doing this. I tried this myself and after rebooting, it took ages to load the sign in screen. After signing in, it only loaded a cursor on a black screen. I have tried advanced options and booting into previous versions without success either, so ultimately doing a complete re-install now.
kali linux 2024.3 come with kernal 6.8.11 if you updated your kernal to 6.10.11 ALFA card wont work ... so use this command to remove the new kernal sudo apt remove --purge linux-image-6.10.11-amd64 then reboot your alfa card will work again.

Hi, I downloaded version 2024.2 and did an update and upgrade, of course I downloaded kernel 6.11. Could I ask for advice ? If I give the purge command and delete it and I want to load 6.8.11 and I type apt-get install -y linux-headers-6.8.11-amd64 it tells me that there is no source. Is it necessary to create a nano sources list for the source where 6.8.11 is ?
