Great dry fire drills. I believe I dry fired my glock 19 5000 times before even shooting it with live rounds. My draw, sight alignment became muscle memory. At the range with live fire. The gun just felt like a natural extension of my hand and arm. Thats the beauty of our brains. You repeat a process enough. Your brain just automatically learns it and perfects the routine the more you do it.
@TacticalRifleman This is actually one of the best videos i have seen that actually said something i preach daily to my team and my fiance about the importance of dry fire. Especially when you go to the range and people look at you like you're crazy when you walk in with only 100 rounds and then you perform basic fundamental drills. Amateurs practice until they get it right Professionals practice until they can't get it wrong
Dry practice is incredibly undervalued by most. It is incredible just how much of your training can be done without wasting a single round. I get to the range 2-3 times a month, I get dry practice 7 days a week though. My weapon handling stays sharp.
That Peeper agreed, I don't always have the financial means to go to the range or compete at matches but I still make time to dryfire alot, the manipulation becomes second nature and you can still push yourself with a timer and par-time , just like training martial arts.
It might sound stupid but I don’t even have a gun and I’ve watched almost of these videos lol. I love the technical aspect of shooting. I also like there war stories.
BushidoKi Get yourself a gun. Your already ahead of most gun owners. Most just buy a gun and shoot it once then put it away. You probably know more than alot of gun owners just by watching videos. Now get out tjere and do the real thing. Lol
The dry-fire only product with red slide is the SIRT, they make both a Glock and M&P style trainers. Rob Pincus and other respected instructors love them, I've used one before and would like to get one eventually. They are $240-$440 depending on the model and options, plus about $20/mag. The conversion is the SWSA Glock Dry Fire Kit, identified by the red dot on the trigger, only like $60. Magill's Glockstore sells a comparable drop-in dry fire kit that's a around $140 I think.
Excellent video. Is it possible to put out videos designed for dry fire that could be played on a TV that would be similar to what you get in simulator training. And a close friend had a negligent discharge from a Glock17 because he was working on his gun and his muscle memory kicked in and fired a weapon he didn't even remember loading. It sounds really stupid but if you dry fire enough your muscle memory will do things without conscience thought like clearing malfunctions , transitioning or loading when empty. His AD could have been avoided if the ammo was in a separate room from where he was working.
We have a video that is a bunch of drills in the Rogers range. Throw it up on your TV and like you said “make sure your ammo is in the other room”. ua-cam.com/video/-Q2FNLXtKaA/v-deo.html
Question for the dry fire practice video: I don't know of a dry fire kit for the M&P, so should I pause the video to reset the trigger, or learn to cock the gun and resight faster?
What are some of the Glock trigger reset kits you recommend? I hate having to manually reset my trigger after each trigger pull, and I’m not a fan of the zip tie/cardboard in the ejection port trick. I want an actual break and reset. Cheers!
A dedicated Glock Dryfire Pistol is your best choice. I use the kit that has a drop-in trigger bar in a real Glock. This allows me to do mag reloads and everything, with no worry of an AD... it can’t shoot live ammo. There is also a Dryfire Magazine, that resets your trigger. However, don’t accidentally do a speed reload with a live mag. That would suck. TR
Great video again guys! Thank you. I have a question for you. I have been told by multiple people in the law enforcement community that dry firing with a full-size mirror in front of you is an excellent way to give the feel of a threat. I know Jelly Bryce, was renowned for doing this for 8-9 hours a day without breaks. I started doing this, and I feel the movement in the mirror is applicable for providing that movement and distraction to make the situation a bit more real. So what do you think of this training method? (I use this for practicing drawing from my concealed holster and and getting the first shot off quickly and accurately.
Red, it is a good technique for certain aspects of CCW shooting. However, it lacks in other areas, such has definitive point of aim. We have another Video just for Dry Firing, that uses the 9 Roger's Combat Pistol Course Tests. You can dry fire all nine tests back to back, right there in your TV. Give it a try. I use this video on a projector with classes of students. Allows instructors to evaluate many points in one area. Thanks for watching, TR.
Tactical Rifleman Thank you sir for answering my question. I love your guy’s channel. Extremely informative and I will certainly follow up with what you suggested. I’m always trying to keep practicing but you guys help me practice right.
Tactical Rifleman heck yeah, I work 80 hours a week and don’t have time to hit the range, but if I can practice at home at least I’m getting that, heck I didn’t even think of getting a practice gun, but I will definitely look into a dry fire gun for this practice so I don’t get that habit of racking the slide every time I fire

Thank you for these videos gentlemen. Those of us who appreciate the knowledge instead of just the shooting are grateful.
BahBahUrBad one of the main reason why i like channel
Agreed. Different crowd that is actually looking to learn to improve our own performance, rather than purely entertainment.

Great video series gentlemen. Keep them coming. Thank you.
One request, please. Could you please share links to the products you recommend for the various conversion kits and dry-fire only pistols? Thank you.

I love airsoft gas blowbacks for ‚dry‘ fire
Its cheap, not very dangerous, and there is a real hit and kind of a recoil
"Ruin your tv" this guy knows. We've all done dry tv head shots haha.
WolfTheMadMan
I like to do dry tv headshots when CNN is on.
j u gotta get your practice in.
@Tacticalrifleman What wristwatch is Sid wearing here? Is it a gshock? Many thanks if you know

where can i get one of those dry fire pistols
Dumb question. Do you recommend snap caps or no?
Nope. Waste of money. Just buy cheap dummy rounds
I don't know, that red slide dry fire gun was sexy. Lol
SIRT
They are expensive, but it has taken my shooting to the next level

Kyresse Lewis For once, I really hope you are troll...
Good info, but my god, the background music was at best annoying if not distracting.
Why aren’t we funding this!
Thanks! We are actually launching our Patreon soon. We appreciate your support.

Would have been helpful if you actually demonstrated in addition to just describing it. Thanks.
Can you do dry fire with any pistol
Yes, IF it is unloaded
keith urban
Click bait, he doesn’t do any dry firing
Heh.
Too much talking
Its a video about dry fire techniques. What did you expect?
