Many of you missed the point I was making in this video showing the online listings, so here's a blanket statement.
I am aware that the items I showed online are listed as plated... the issue is that the coins / bars are NOT marked that way. As I said in the video, people buy these and then use them to scam others once they're here. They don't care that they're fake or plated because their intent is to use them to scam others later.

That bar is made of leaded brass, plated with copper and then with silver. The checker you got is actually a conductivity tester that compares surface conductivity to bulk conductivity. Pure silver is very very conductive. One simple test is to heat with a torch lighter, if the bar or round get hot very quickly than it's real, if it takes a while than it's bogus. No need to heat very hot, simply hold the bar and torch the other end and note how quickly it gets too hot to hold

    • @christopherleubner6633
      @christopherleubner6633 22 дні тому

Sadly you are right. Seen a lot of them offered at flea markets and such lately. The part that is very misleading is they are even marked for purity which is outright fraud. A super easy test for a pure silver bar is to hold a torch lighter to it, and see how fast the heat moves. Only genuine silver will get too hot extremely quickly and not form a hot spot where the torch lighter flame hits it. The leaded brass fake would get a hot spot before the rest heated up. ❤️

I purchased the Pro Mini Segma last year for $1,400. You're absolutely correct; you don't need it if you buy from reputable bullion dealers. I don't regret it because I test everything for "peace of mind." I've tested friends, gold and silver, who had theirs for years or purchased abandoned storage lockers containing coins. I've found fakes in their stacks several times. Maybe I should charge them a service fee, lol. Nice video, as usual.

If a customer knew they had bars in there more then what they owe, which is far less then a bar usaully, they would pay the rent and clear out the unit or get the bars leave everything else to go to action and ignore the threat of collections. Or just break in and take their items back and now ha e a warrant but they don't care.

Silver has the highest reflection index of any metal higher then platinum. Because of this i thought to myself “what if we lined the pocket under diamonds with silver to throw more fire into them?” Original idea? I found this feature on a ring i inherited.
Oh thats right silver has the highest electrical conductivity as well as thermal conductivity of any metal. So you could test it electronically like the sigma does. I wonder if we could develop a little heater/tester that can show if its heating up evenly and at the right speed?

silver/copper don't react to a moving magnet because of diamagnetism. That effect is much too weak to visibly move something as heavy as a silver bar. What you're seeing is a demonstration of Faraday's law and Lenz's law.
The change in magnetic flux as you move the magnet over the silver induces electric current (eddy current) to flow in the bar. That current's magnetic field tends to oppose the magnet's, which tends to lock the bar and the magnet together in space; just like superconductor levitation but weaker. You can see demonstrations with aluminum blocks in MRI machines that show how powerful the levitation force can be when the magnet is really really big.
It's the eddy current flowing in the bar that briefly turns the bar into an electromagnet whenever a nearby magnetic field changes.

Great thinking by the viewer to take it to coin shop to get tested.

I don't stack or anything like that, but I think a real red flag for me would be the photo from the Facebook ad and the way the bars are packaged. To me it just _screams_ Temu, and anybody who's seen a bar from a legitimate producer (Just ask any pawn shop to have a look at any they have in stock) will know they come in sealed packaging, are assay marked, and are individually serialised with a number that can be independently validated on the manufacturers website. 👍
I once took a look at a „gold“ bar that someone was offering at a car-boot sale (US: Flea market) for £20 - It was about 1x2" and (I think) stamped as one ounce. This may have been several years ago, but the spot price for gold hasn't been *that* low since the Bank of England was formed! 🙃

Buyers Beware! Facebook pop up adds also have “dealers” that are selling fakes. Those Great Deals even close to spot or even over are probably bad. Buy from reputable dealers or LCSs…

You can make plenty of money by not scamming people with coins. It's a shame that people scam.

Went to my local shop to sell my high grade Franklins. . I was only able to get 60% of what I paid. Said he had 500 lbs. Of 90% he couldnt sell.
By contrast he only had a small amount of silver eagles.

Do People add a single small strip of magnetic material to the bar when its being pored? You could make your real sliver bars seem fake by doing that when you create the bars. Only you would know.
