I don’t think it makes a whole lot of difference whether an artists is really great and a stand-out. The fact is Filipino artists are discriminated upon and put on the sidelines simply because they are Filipino and perhaps NOT marketable! Producers particularly in the States do not want to invest on talent alone but also look at the ROI ( return on investment). Bottom line: It’s all about the money and nothing else!
@@renealcid6708 This is the sad reality! In fairness, when she was doing shows in Las Vegas, Lani was so well-loved that the mayor even named December 4 as Lani Misalucha Day - at least, at that side of the US, talent was appreciated. Also, I don't know how true this is, but apparently Lani had a segment on her regular shows where she would imitate different singers and the audience loved her performances each time. She was so good at imitating Celine Dion that they said, one time, Celine came to one of her shows incognito!
I believe the interview you were talkin about was with the siblings Efra and Waleska, its in Waleka's youtube channel. The siblings were able to interview a lot of Filipino artists including Gary V, Jayson Dy, Bugoy Drilon, JayR, Jaya, Kayla, Inigo Pascual, Ben&Ben, even Morisette.😊

She is acutally base in the US now and jaya is really open for interview you can just reach out to her. Filipinoe artist are really open to podcast interview. You can also reach to a british reactor who has had filipino A list singers on their podcast. Her name is Waleska Herrera

I've been watching your videos for a long time now but realized I haven't subscribed. I just did now. And great timing coz this is my favorite song from Jaya.
Jaya the Soul Diva.she's a good friend if Regine Velasquez . They were the Top Triumvirate Divas in their prime, together with Lani Misalucha. React also to Lani's videos. And from there, search for the Broadway Medley of Regine and Martin Nievera in one of their concerts together in the 90s. Martin is our Concert King while Gary V is Mr. Pure Energy and Total Performer.

Jaya is now based here in d US. So good a singer indeed!

This has to be one of the hardest Filipino songs. The small runs that are required technically and musically are out of this world.
Great analysis of Jaya's style and technique. I would never have picked up on the vocal nuances caused by her facial and mouth movements because I normally just tune in on the vocals. Anyway, the interviews with Jaya and Jay-R you mentioned are from the podcast of Waleska & Efra Herrera. Sent the links thru the Google forms in the description. You'll need a couple of hours to listen to them though.
