    People want more than anything to be seen, and yet they are terrified of being seen because they are afraid of what will be seen. And there is so much we want to hide, and yet we have hidden from ourselves that which is best in us.

      @coolwater55 Рік тому +6

      True, but that is a sense of the teenage years or early adult years. For such self impressions to extend into mature adulthood is definitely the problem.
      We should move beyond the body only image and move into growth of spirit, soul and self as well as how we deal with others.
      But you are correct, we can get caught up in our own personal self impressions at any age.

    • @CitrusSimon
      @CitrusSimon Рік тому +8

      @@coolwater55 Indeed, I agree. That is an insightful reply coolwater 55. I appreciate that.
      Remaining adolescent even into old age is quite common...
      This also plays out in other areas of life also. If we have a close look at food, we can understand that beyond our taste buds, of what the egoic mind likes and dislikes, there are foods that deliver energy, and foods that take our energy that are highly addictive.
      From the standpoint of Natural Hygiene, fresh ripe fruit is considered the optimal food. Yet, many people stay in the adolescent phase of not thinking about what food is going to do them, after they have swallowed it, which leads to all sorts of sickness and disease, that could be avoided by being present.
      Some call it adolescent, others call it the egoic mind?
      Still, the present moment remains, it is all we have.
      Would you say that being present is actually adult consciousness, and constantly identifying with thought is adolescent consciousness?
      Eckhart, keeps on showing up, week after week, year in, year out, to simply remind us, and help us understand, our unfathomable present moment!

      Everybody deeply wants to be understood. But in our environment oftentimes judgment is what we get instead.
      Probably at the end it's the ego, that fears rejection and seeks validation at the same time. It's gonna be a gamble until you grow out of it.

    To me, the biggest issue with body shaming is society's mental conditioning. Beauty is defined within a very limited range of criteria. And this is emphasized everywhere constantly. Notice how a century or so ago, it was okay for a woman to be full-figured. Aphrodite was a full-figured woman. Over time, women were pressured to look ever thinner. Thus the invention of corsets, girdles, etc. Now body shaming has connected with disease as Citrus Simon suggests. In the drive to obtain unrealistic forms, people, (especially young women), develop unhealthy behaviors such as bulimia, not eating, liquid diets, pills, etc. This identification with the ego can and is deadly. I always remember Karen Carpenter. A beautiful young woman with a beautiful voice, but she eventually ruined her own health and died.

    I think anyone who struggles with that, after following those instructions and start apreciating oneself as a whole being, not only social status, age and appearance, be in touch with God and the spiritual realm, can develop some sort of magical magnetism, a sparkle in the eyes, that more than compensates for those old comparison habits. It's a personal paradigm change.

    I can remember when I was seven and my cousin received a big wheel for Christmas. That spring she and I was outside playing when she brought out her big wheel. Being a child I was of course enthralled by this really cool toy! My cousin being a good girl asked me if I’d like a turn on it.
    I started to get on and my aunt came outside screaming at me to “Get your fat ass off that before you break it!”
    That was just one time, I remember hundreds of times each and every member of my “friends”, and family enjoyed their fat and/or ugly jokes at my expense.

    "When a growing girl becomes aware of the pleasing effect that her blossoming womanhood is beginning to have upon others and takes the credit for this to her own ego, she has already gone a little crazy. She has misplaced her identification. What is causing all the excitement is not her own astonished little ego, but the wonderful body growing all around it." (Joseph Campbell, Myths to live by, p. 231). Quite. Some beautiful women, especially when they are young, think that they are, or at least should be, the centre of the universe. Their main goal is destroying all other women, at least the ones who are in their neighbourhood. I have done some very interesting experiments with them, witch as I am, sitting next to them on a terrace, f.i., not allowing them to take away my inner balance, and going on enjoying my own beauty, just as if they didn't even exist. The effect of such an approach is remarkable. You see those young women just shrivel away before your eyes. In fact, you destroy them, or at least, their desire to destroy you..

    A common, and extremely evil way of insulting any woman is saying: "How beautiful you looked when you were young!" It is an insult disguised as a compliment. Women do that to each other often enough. And in general, men do not even notice that.

    Comparison is a common egoic tool. It's tiring.
    Go beyond the surface appearance. Appreciate other people's essence. You go beyond the surface to the energy, aliveness, and consciousness that permeate your being.🐦😇🐦🎪🚣‍♂️🐰🎷💰
    🎷🥇🎷🎪🦒👍🌞
    You can recognize and appreciate other people's manifestations as expression of life, and acknowledge their underlying essence which you also are. Your beauty, essence, is formless!
    👻🐇🦒🦒🍰🦑🌽
    It's liberating. Know thyself.
    Those who compare know not what they do.
    🐿💖🐦🐧🐦🚣‍♂️🐇👻
    Thanks Eckhart. 18 November 2022..🐞🏆👻🎷🐇🐰🎪🌽

    I stop comparing myself when I found out that each of us have gifts within us and that gift is not given in one person that's my view. For example one person is good.a d great in cooking however they're not good at housekeeping, in baby sitting. One is best in theory but he's not good in execution . Some good at writing a book but not good in handling business. Some has spiritual gift but some good in running their community politically.

    On good days, I too can snicker about being a faded rose from days gone by, but sometimes it is not the least bit funny 😄 I long ago discovered that I can find beauty in a woman of any age, by looking past the surface.
