I thought Johnny Sins pursued classical guitar after being in different professions. lol!
But seriously, this is one of the best string changing method I've learned. Thank you!

I suggest after taking off the bass or treble side, that you take a rag with a mild cleaner to clean the fret board.

When tightening the strings on the rollers at the headstock the most important item seems to that the path from the roller to the nut is as straight as possible - not rubbing on another string or having a poor break angle at the nut. This will determine whether the string on the roller goes medial or lateral - the tone can change.
I have reviewed about twenty UA-cam videos (most somewhat different) but rather rarely does one bring both aspects out; each talks about the guitar being demonstrated.
This would naturally imply that each guitar might require a slightly different method to maximize its sound.
    Thank you.

Lots of players take one string at a time saying that if you don't it affects the tension on the top of your instrument.

Indeed, some people do! (I don't.)That is addressed in the full version of the video, which will be posted as a lesson on tonebase. Become a member to watch the full video.

Back when I started, in the 1980s, the rule was to take them off and replace one at a time so that there wasn’t a release of total tension on the neck. But now I see everybody taking them all off at once. Was this actually a thing? If so, when did it change?

Ha ha this dude belongs to the dreaded rasgueado lot - just kidding, a guitar is intended to be played on and I must say I like his friendly approach. In addition, he relies on friction 100%, with veeery tight tolerances - a pro indeed, made me glad!

What is the optimal amount of string wrapped around the post, if any?

  • @yoheff988
    @yoheff988 Рік тому

Why don't you use beads for the bridge end? They improve the break angle and are very easy to use.

I also tie each string into each other at the bridge starting with the base string. That way they will never slip.

Comments on this video are trash. People complain way too much about nothing.
No one forced you to watch the video 🤦🏻‍♂️
Informative video for those who might need it

The only thing I do differently is to tape a piece of cardboard behind the bridge. If the strings snaps it will not damage your guitar. I learned this the hard way.

I use paper tape. Don't wanna scratch the french polish, not even with the ends rubbing against it.
