I can’t help but notice that Kano Shihan did not even mention judo, or adding judo to the games.

In all likelihood, it was already secured.

@@nrxmonkJudo didn't become an Olympic sport until 1964. Nearly two and a half decades later than the 1940 games under discussion...and the letter is from 1935.

In his Bio it is clear he was not enthusiastic about it. Kano's membership in the IOC had nothing to do with judo (aside from it being part of his reputation as an expert in sports and physical education.)

Jigoro Kano seemed to learn jiu jitsu real quick the way it seems. Ive never heard his training and learning program. Kito ryu, Tenshin ryu and another style. Seemed his instructors must taught him quite quickly. Could you tell us anything on his training periods, where was he taught a technique, then the next after familiarity with one?
As Carlos and Helio seemed to learn or were taught real quick. Note, seems, I never heard time frames or amount of time training. Which if an instructor teaches concepts and principles and can teach, itd seem possible to learn quick.
Then who else, President Truman? We're told he was taught but I never heard for how long.
If you have any training knowledge of Jigoro Kano, Carlos and Helios and The President, Id like to hear it where you may have alreasy covered it. If not, well.

Bizarre, bizarre... Jigoro Kano était contre la compétition et il était pour la compétition olympique ?

Sport vs physical education and a "life style". Sports can be good but Judo was not a sport.

@Chadi I've been following your channel for few months. I love how you dive deep into budo history for all systems of Japanese hand combat. But have you ever considered doing the same for Japanese Swordsmanship? I would love to see the same energy with Japanese Sword styles and find the true origins of their lineages. Specifically Jigen Ryu Hyoho, Tenshinsho Jigen Ryu, Yagyu Shinkage Ryu, and Taisha Ryu.
