Hi Alex! Hope you are well! I am having trouble with this as it seems to cut off the text at specific characters and so you can't even finish reading a text that would take 2-4 min to read out loud which is a bit of a problem. Making the font smaller does extend how many words you can read however it's so small you either wont be able to see it well or your audience will be able to tell that you are reading as your eyes will be moving from side to side. Any advice?
Great content Alex. Its already been a huge help in setting up my system. Can one share a screen to the input? I.e. I want to broadcast not just from cameras, but also from other sources such as a Zoom window. Or have I bought the wrong hardware for doing that?
Wow, I've been looking up different tools and software to do this easily and cheaply. Almost pulled the trigger on a 4k Decimator that can flip/mirror hdmi sources. Thanks for an awesome video!
I performe a show using multiple scenes with obs... For that I use two monitors, the laptop is showing obs and second monitor use zoom call... How can I do with this setup? I just don't know how to flip my second screen
Great and timely video. I've been struggling with trying to get our Zoom calls to look natural via the teleprompter and you solved it for me in a simple and inexpensive way. I don't know why I didn't think to use OBS. Way to go!

Greeting from South Australia. Thanks for the video, Alex. I will try that with my setup. I appreciate the effort you put into all your videos. Have a nice day.
Love the tutorial.. Straight to the point. 15 min long. No excessive babling. You definitely 👍 got a thumbs up and a subscribe from me. Keep up the great work
Thank you very much. I do counseling online on zoom and sometimes have to speak long scripts to clients while keeping eye contact with them all the time. Biggest problem was reading the script and keeping eye contact as well without referring to the script>Thank you for this information
This is a good idea. I've seen a few DIY teleprompters which basically come back to lack of software you can build it is ghetto as you want but you still have to have Software and there's some free ones out there it's nice to know that going the opposite way OBS does work in a pinch or also.
Is there a way to use this feature while simultaneously using OBS to record the output of my camera? Right now it seems if it is part of the scene, it records the screen too. But if I move it to another scene, the teleprompter view is not visible, until I switch back to that scene. Looking to have a hybrid, where scene 2 shows on monitor 2 (teleprompter), but obs records only sources from scene 1.
Great tips Alex! I bought the Glide Gear TMP 100 a few months back and which I had this version instead as it makes it possible to use a 13” monitor. With the Glide Gear the only real options for a larger monitor is the Lilliput A11 which is more expensive.
@Alex Pettit - If the text is too long, the complete text disappears when the scrolling filter is active. With that behavior you need to have short texts. Do you have a solution/workaround how I can have longer text? I think the behavior/bug has something to do with how OBS handles the text with the scrolling filter function on. Maybe there is a pixel-limit for the height of the text-object? I found out that the smaller the font-size, the more text I can put in that textfield, but you can't read it well any more. The larger the font-size, the better you can read the text but as every letter is so much bigger, you can put even lesser text into that textfield.
Before I download OBS Studio latest version, please: when scrolling text, is there an easy way to stop the scrolling and restart as easily? This will allow me to ad lib and rejoin whenever the spirit hits. Thank you in advance.
What portable monitor are you using in this video? I like the idea of having one cable USB-C to charge monitor and display data, im looking to set up this monitor strictly for telepromter use and don't really need it to connect to my canon camera. If you have an affiliate link to the exact monitor you used in this video I would like to purchase!
hello pal, I have a TP-iLight Pro Teleprompter 12 inch screen glass, I want to mount either a camera or a camcorder to the Teleprompter, What size screw do I use to attach the equipment to the plate of the teleprompter. Thank you .
Hi Alex, Thanks for such a great tutorial. I`m using a PC Laptop with OBS installed. Can you tell me is it possible to control the teleprompter using a remote control. I have a specific reason for asking this question as I will have a presenter who will want to control the teleprompter from a distance. (ie) to be able to go back to the start at the flick of a button.
Found the problem I do not have Word Wrap on my OBS which is the absolute lateset version/ It says Use custom text extents. Click that box and it is called just wrap. Which is not what is does. It shrinks the area to 100 x 1oo and show 1 white line. the text is gone. If I enlarge the area it is still 1 white line.
I mean let’s be clear though, the software and screen isn’t thousands, it’s the actual teleprompter glass and assembly. Very rarely now are people paying for a specifically expensive screen beyond an ultrabright for outdoor use.
I was thinking that I could write javascript code to do exactly that in one or two hours tops, and put that anywhere online for free. Now any tablet could do the trick right?
Hey Alex, i look for a tool that make LIVE subtitel maybe with OBS from English to German language. Open / Close captioning. Automaticly. Do you have a idea?
Have the same problem. Has to do with font-size in combination with text-length. If the text is too long, the text disappears. Sometimes, if you disable the Scrolling Filter, the text reappears. So check your textlength.
Just wondering how big you can go. I also have a 16” teleprompter and in my home studio I’m using a decommissioned MS surface with camlink that takes one of the atem hdmi out. But 12,3 inches is a little small. In the main studio we have 3 cameras and I’d like to have a synchronized script. So I just got an HDMI splitter and using 15,6 inch monitors. When the lockdown will be over will try to install them and see if they are too big.
@@lucapiu I personally wouldn’t go too big, because then you’ll start to notice people reading more as the eyes travel further across a larger screen. It might look okay if the camera is further back… but you’ll have to play around :) Good luck! Your setup sound cool!
seems hard to edit the text between takes and also you need a pause button to allow you to take breath, so this seems like it would not actually work in a practical manner?
