St. Francis de Sales Oratory, St. Louis

- The Oratory of Saint Francis de Sales, sometimes called the Cathedral of South Saint Louis, was completed in 1908 based on the design of the churches in Berlin and the Cathedral of Munich in Germany. It is an excellent example of gothic revival architecture brought over from Europe at the turn of the last century. It was recently voted the most beautiful Church in America in the Church Madness 2017 competition conducted by Art and Liturgy (www.artandliturgy.com).

Absolutely beautiful. I truly believe if there were an ICKSP parish in every city it’d be the most faith filled church in all the world. There’s a reason why Catholicism in its original form flourished and brought so much beauty to the world in generations past.
I am blessed to be a part of this great family , my parish ! God Bless all the Canon's and all the faithful who attend !
I was in St. Louis on vacation 3 weeks ago! I visited and worshipped at St. Francis de Sales (ICKSP) and also St. Mary's Assumption (SSPX)!
ICKSP took over this church not only in the year my life changed forever but in the same month of the same year that my life changed forever. Love going to weekly masses and adorations at St Francis de Sales Oratory!!!
Thank you for saving the most beautiful church ICKSP.
The church truly glorifies Almighty God.
May God protect this beautiful church, its faithful, and all the ICKSP priests.
I was here today. What a treasure
God Bless ICKSP
May God bless these holy priests in this time of turmoil
What an incredibly tall tower! In Milwaukee, we too have an oratory run by the ICTK. As you testified in St. Louis, St. Stanislaus in Milwaukee has a large and growing parish comprised mainly of young families. Money is pouring in; the 1873 church edifice has been completely restored to its original grandeur.
Thank God for ICKSP, FSSP, and SSPX
dont forget the benedictine order never stopped practicing latin
also the cmri and other independent traditionalist movements
@@iminbreadbutfrench8625 I know many CMRI priests and nuns. Father Casimir Puskorius baptized my first born and (re)married my wife and after we first got married by a rent a minister
Uh the SSPX is not really in communion with rome
SSPX has nothing to do with the two other ones my friend ! They don't recognize the Pope...
very precious!
You can’t name a church after a more impressive man than Francis de sales
I have never been to a ICKSP oratory but look forward to visiting one. Clearly, the society understands how to convey the permanence and transcendence of God and of and through his Church. So refreshing when so many priests, bishops, cardinals and more have now lost sight of the needs of God's people but satisfy mostly their own egos, instead.
Excellent job narrating, Cn H!
I was there last Sunday it was beautiful
Two years on now since the contest I pray all is going forward well at St. Francis de Sales, this from a promoter of St. Mary's Norwalk, a quarterfinalist.
I moved to St. Louis from Dallas in 1987. I'll never forget the first time I entered St. Francis de Sales. It was a Saturday evening mass. I couldn't get over just how beautiful the interior of the church was. The organ sounded magnificent. The church's great organ is enhanced by the perfect acoustics there.
I know this seems strange but I want to move near or around the church. Have you got any recommendations?
@@garden209 You don't want to live around that church. It's in a bad neighborhood. Areas such as Soulard and Benton Park are not far from the church, and they're good areas.
@@nativetexanful Yes, i visited the church and noticed the neighborhood. Thank you for the helpful information. I will look into it!
If you get the chance to see St. Francis de Sales Oratory in person, take it. Photos and video really don't do it justice.
Definitely, going there is what introduced me to the Latin mass
Sister Mary of love God!!
Stunning edifice. Love the turrets on each side of the tower with the entry stairways. Glad you haven't abandoned your Lutheran musical heritage.
Muchas gracias
Truly is one of the finest Neo gothic German American church and I am pleased as a visitor to witness the dedication and the work to maintain. However I'm so puzzled that was so much interest in this community how is it that just to the side of the church stands such a absurdly derelict building? In all of the wisdom of the congregation has not been interest to purchase that for residential use. The whole neighborhood seems to be in somewhat transition and is a beautiful historic place. I would think that location exactly there would be highly coveted? I'm just scratching my head after this last visit
Saint Francis- one of my favorite saints- pray for reneval of CATHOLIC TRADITIONAL FAITH and celebrating TRIDENTINE MASS. I also pray for the way of visiting this Parish and Church somehow:)
Dance schön!
Is the area now black?
