  • Our world is changing fast. Workers now collaborate anytime and anywhere, making instant real-time decisions thanks to smart phones, tablets and devices. We're about to rocket past the 1 billion mark of smart devices purchased worldwide, with 80% of workers using personal devices in the workplace.
With the new era of Bring Your Own Device, we're seeing the most radical shift in business hardware since PCs invaded the workplace in the 70s. In the 90's Mobile was seen as a device, in 2012 Mobile is an enterprise platform overtaking PCs as the most common device for web access and business usage.
A solid BYOD strategy is set to be the number 1 priority in the business world over the next 2 years, with everything digital becoming mobile: computers, software, internet, cloud and social media. Businesses see an opportunity to build engagement with employees by providing choice of devices, operating systems and networks and increased business productivity. The seamless flow of business critical data from corporate networks to multiple devices will be the heart of any BYOD strategy. Cloud based services empower device and location independence. Users can connect to corporate systems, accessing business-critical data securely, through a web browser irrespective of location. Businesses are embracing this trend with an estimated 1 billion users of cloud-applications by 2015.
Security risks and the need to monitor the vulnerability of mobile devices and sensitive data are number one concern of CIOs in a 2012 survey of Australian corporate business. Organisations have accepted BYOD as inevitable and have started to implement policies addressing security, governance and compliance concerns and regaining control through implementation of a Mobility Management solution. Along with Mobile Device Management, Application, Email and Content Management, the right Mobility Management solution will provide necessary safeguards as well as reporting functionality for visibility and cost control. It can unify multiple operating systems, devices and complex applications, simplifying your BYOD strategy and affording your business the agility it needs to engage your customers and increase productivity.
