@starshine1301 It's actually healthier for alligators to have swamp-like water. After all, that's how they live in the wild! Plus, if I were to change it every time it got like this, I'd be changing the water every 3 days! :)
The general rule for crocodilians is that they need a land area that is at least three times the SVL (snout to vent length) in width and four times the SVL in length. They also need a water area that is at least four times the SVL in width and five times the SVL in length with depth of 0.4 SVL. The average size for an adult female alligator is 8.2 feet and the average size for an adult male is 11.2 feet. That means a single 8.2 foot adult female with an SVL of 5 feet would need an enclosure with a land area of 15 x 20 (300 square ft) and a water area of 20 x 25 (500 square ft) with a depth of 2 feet. 800 square ft total is the size of a small house. With the cost of building an enclosure that size, the cost of food, the cost of whatever you use to heat the air, the cost of water heaters and the water filtration system, alligators are not for everyone. If you are at a time in your life where you are financially stable and can afford to make the long-term commitment of owning an alligator (they live for 50-70 years), just be sure you never ever completely trust it. Always, always be cautious and careful.
+Poofesure Brown You do not need morality or complex thought to be sad. For example dogs can be sad and they don't have morality or complex thought but I don't know about aligators.
Poofesure Brown Thats not even what i'm talking about. If a dogs owner yells at it it will feel sad without having those attributes thus proving it can be sad.
@doublefreeze I'm going to build him an enclosure in my backyard that's about a square acre with a nice, big pond and everything else he could possibly want. :)
i luv the video by the way, im an avid reptile collector and have been without them lately and I have to have one, i have acreage and a pond for it when it grows up and everything but finding a place that will ship one where I live is another story!!! LOL
as with any animal in a relatively small enclosure, if the water is not changed regularly then detritus can build up in the tank and the water quality drops. that gator was basically living in its own faeces. its all about the volume of water it lives in.
this is so adorable. :) I have a gator by my house, named cupcake and he won't eat meat, only french fries. LOL he's vegetarian, I guess. p.s. this isn't my youtube account, I think it's my sisters. lol
Having own large lizards my self you do have to have a passion for these animals and a nice pocketbook to take care of them. I am not saying i disagree with them being sold in the pet trade not at all but i do fear people who don't understand how to take care of them having these animals. I have 2 Nile Monitors and i only payed for one of them the other is a rescue. Thanks for the video cool gator
What a cute baby..how old and it's name. When I was a young girl I wanted an Alligator so bad but my parents said no. My grandfather would always take me to the alligator farm in Buena Park, California and I lived it and all the animals they had there.. Pam Allen LaMirada, Ca
Check out Jakesgotherps. he feeds his 3 ft american alligator a prepared diet . looks like dog food, but is made for crocodilians. he says since hes been eating that his whole life he never associated any animal ( including people) with food...which is nice when you have an 9 ft gator that could possibly kill you.
The reason the water is so dirty is cuz it's by a window I have a turtle and I wasn't aware but putting it next to the window makes that water green fast. I moved it down the basement and it's crystal clear for 1 week now with the as filter also u need UVB and heat
+John Smith well I know for a fact that crocs can basically be tamed. but then again even a dog has a small chance if turning on you just as fast as any reptile.
Vel's Exotics And Aquatics it is true but really risky , see a relationship between crocs and humans is relied on the food you give to him. If you feed him daily he will see that you are not worth killing as you are feeding him , but when u dont...
And my education? Well, I live in Florida and growing up my father worked for Fish and Wildlife. At times, he relocated problem alligators and nursed various animals back to health in our bathroom--including alligators. I've had the unfortunate task of doing the same. At a younger age, I worked at the Alligator Farm. Here's a clue, they have alligators. True enough, my education didn't come from Google or a library book, but I can almost promise that I know more than you do, pumpkin. :)
When was the last water change??
Crocodiles like to stay in murky water don't you know that
Crocky FN it’s an alligator
@@oxyranus9355 point still stands, they enjoy murky water, not clean. It means no place to hide.

Walter Harris hahhaha looks like .... poor alligator.... would love to take him somewhere else
Im not for unchanged water but u should see what they live in the wild its more like shitty toilet water
Alexandrajank wrong the fact that aligator like most croc loves dirty waters in clear water they cant hunt or ambush animals
Alexandrajank wrong the fact that aligator like most croc loves dirty waters in clear water they cant hunt or ambush animals
that alligator is so CUTE
I'm sure that baby alligator will have lots of fun dancing to "Hard Rock Blues" which is number 17 of 20 on the PSR-330 Keyboard Demo.
I actually feel bad for the poor alligator :/ living in such a small tank he just looks so sad..
Yeah... The little guys are often in tanks like this, but I'm sure he'll have more space in the future.
An alligator can not be sad it doesnt has morality or complex thought
+Poofesure Brown You do not need morality or complex thought to be sad. For example dogs can be sad and they don't have morality or complex thought but I don't know about aligators.
stelpe they are lonely, not sad, dogs are meant to be in a pack thats why they are lonely when alone
Poofesure Brown
Thats not even what i'm talking about. If a dogs owner yells at it it will feel sad without having those attributes thus proving it can be sad.
Just a magnificent creature!
it's so cute when they completly pwn those crickets!
@doublefreeze I'm going to build him an enclosure in my backyard that's about a square acre with a nice, big pond and everything else he could possibly want. :)

What all do you need for a set up ?
this is so adorable. :) I have a gator by my house, named cupcake and he won't eat meat, only french fries. LOL he's vegetarian, I guess. p.s. this isn't my youtube account, I think it's my sisters. lol
it's so cute!!!!
How do you keep your tank so clean?

Schock Gamez No not technically crocodiles are there own branch of the evolutionary tree.
Yeah crocs are more related to birds than lizards being archosaurs and all
Who ever know feeding alligators can be cool
I was thinking about getting a Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman bc they only get 4 feet.
What your alligator grows bigger, what will you do ?
Set the gator free? or do you have a massive pool?
What a cute baby..how old and it's name.

@CakeManiaAddict Absolutely! :) I'll give him a large area in my backyard with a pond when he gets a little older.
Your kidding....YOU HAVE A FREAKING ALLIGATOR!?
Check out Jakesgotherps. he feeds his 3 ft american alligator a prepared diet . looks like dog food, but is made for crocodilians. he says since hes been eating that his whole life he never associated any animal ( including people) with food...which is nice when you have an 9 ft gator that could possibly kill you.
awww he is so cute :3
who's the cute little man-eater. you are yyeeesss you are XD
cute lil gator
@VicyyL Thank you! I'll definitely make some videos on how I care for all of them, thanks for the suggestion! :)
When was the last time you cleaned that tank?
hahaha hes so cute i just wanna laugh
The reason the water is so dirty is cuz it's by a window I have a turtle and I wasn't aware but putting it next to the window makes that water green fast. I moved it down the basement and it's crystal clear for 1 week now with the as filter also u need UVB and heat
yes green can be an indicator of vegetation in the water, but this tank doesnt have any does it
That's to cool!!!
Do you have a heater in there for it?
So cute
That's awesome
What size tank is that and how big is the gator?
It looks like such a fucking doof. ... I need one
XD
He is so cute! Will you keep him when he is full size?
I love what you just said XD , no aligator can be taimed to be kept as a pet in your house...unless you buy a swamp
+John Smith but they can be O.O
+John Smith well I know for a fact that crocs can basically be tamed. but then again even a dog has a small chance if turning on you just as fast as any reptile.
Vel's Exotics And Aquatics it is true but really risky , see a relationship between crocs and humans is relied on the food you give to him. If you feed him daily he will see that you are not worth killing as you are feeding him , but when u dont...
John Smith very true lol
the all is like a mosasaur for these bugs.
I'm curious. Given that alligators live around just about any water that isn't heavily polluted or extremely saline, what's the problem?
So can you hold it and stuff?
ur crazy man, just crazy.
Hungry little alligator
How do you get your alligator to enjoy deeper water? I just tried this with mine and he was terrified
Do they clean lakes?
so cute :D
its cool that you have an awesome pet, but i assume he is bigger by now. do u still have him or did you put him in florida?
Lol we are aloud crocs in southern Australia
WHAT? everything outside whats to kill you! and you want it INSIDE? jk
Its not a croc its a alligator
How sweet -3
I want one!!!
Does the tank need to be clean or do they like it dirty?
How do the alligators in the wild like their water?
I'm guessing dirty but they can't control that serious question though in not trying to be mean
sooooo cuteeeeeee
