Hey bro. Why did you left kuwait ?
I saw you on a vid that u declared you live in Prague !!!
Arabic Mike this is called sentence structure. First is mobtada2 and then khabar when it's " Jomla ismiya ". There is some cases you can flip in between khabar and mobtada2 but no not this case.

Don't give up. However if you get tired take breaks
How'd it go? Am starting.

I'm Somali and speak Arabic as native speaker .. Arabic is sooooo wonderful language , you will never be bored because every word has 1000 words with same meaning , well of course it's not 1000 😂 but it has many words with same meaning ..
Also if anyone wants to learn or practise Arabic he /she should watch Arabic cartoons , it's much fun and learning at same time ...
If you learn fus-ha you will learn other slang language easy because all of them came from same root which is Fus-ha .. 😊
Well I think that happens in all languages, I'm Spanish, "granada" means: pomegranate, grenade, and the city of Granada, Andalusia, Spain.
Same applies to me Sarah but i bet your Arabic is better than mine!!!
thanks for the advice!
@@DavidGarcia-hi9tl
you miss the point he means the same meaning has many many words to describe it (large vocabulary) for example the lion has 1000 names😎
@@DavidGarcia-hi9tl eso sí pero el contexto te da el significado correcto , al decir yo como una granada no va ser el significado de la ciudad española ,

I learned to read Arabic over a weekend. I just find it fascinating and beautiful.
Piss off..you may have learnt the letters, but you can't read a language in 2 days....
It's indeed a very beautiful language to look at in my opinion.
Four Owls you can, it’s pretty easy
Many muslims in my remote part of the world, here in South East Asia can read the arabic script because we learn it to read the quran. But reading is one thing and understanding it is another. Yes we can read like the Arab but the majority don't understand what it says. Many read because it sounds beautiful and satisfying to the ears. Plus it's obligatory to read the quran too.
native speaker here. if you learned that in one week i applaud you!!
you got it all wrong, you CAN speak standard with the taxi driver, and he will understand, that's because every single arab knows how to speak standard arabic fluently, we just never do it, because it feels too formal but when push comes to shove we'll speak it normally
Exactly!
Yeah sure
Please don’t let a completely different writing system stop you from learning languages such as Arabic, Urdu and Persian.
Guy's our language isn't hard if you want to learn it you will!
Try harder and you'll learn
Lieee
I wouldn't tell them it's not hard, the script is something completely new to Europeans and that alone is gonna take time to get used to aswell as the left to right reading, but yes, keep going and something will click where you find yourself getting better and better.
@@allroundlad Right to left reading is the easiest part for me. Honestly the hardest part is the pronounciation. Also, if find it so nice that you have only 4 verb tense compared to our 24 in french. I just started learning arabic and I find the difference between this language and mine is fascinating. Also, learning a language is not hard if someone is interested in learning it. I hope that in a year or two I will be able, not only to read, but to understand it's poetry. And, in three years, maybe i'll write some like I wrote some in French and English.
By the way, it interesting to see that a lot of people do not realise the effort you need to put into learning a language.
We can live in the moon if we try hard
@@nifty6970 yes it's hard but it's not impossible i know that the alphabets are also not like english or french but you can in the begining try with simple vidéos
I'm learning english too hhhhh
I'm not good in english because i speak arabic and french
English is kind of My favorite language with arabic
But if someone is talking fast i dont undrestand any of his speach
I wish you become a realy good speaker of arabic
If u learn the formal Arabic all Arabs can understand u
AGREE! ARABIC FUS7AH IS A BIG DADDY!
Yes but you'll never fit the "slang" language is essential IMO
Fit in
aboode diriye
That's true... when we Arabs travel to a different Arab country we speak formal Arabic.
Only if the studied in school. And alot of people did not finish even high school. There are even people that cannot read.
The difficulty of the Arabic language is
1- Pronunciation
2-Grammar
3-Hand writing
in addition to that, the Arabic language in literature different of the dialect language and some times one word can be manipulated to different meaning if you change diacritical or accent mark or accent point.
Example :-
شجن
سجن
How many letters in this word ? only 3 letters
ش ج ن in the first word
and
س ج ن
in the second word
but 3 points (Nukta) removed and the meaning has been changed )
an other example
the same second word سجن
it could be a a name or verb with the same forming letters
Sajana سجن
sijin سجن
note that word did changed as formation but the meaning has changed
the first became a verb ( imprisoned in past tense ) and the second became a name ( jail or prison)
and the pronunciation is the important part in this language , if there is a little changing in accent , it will leads a little change in meaning .
By the way , the Arabic language written in book and Quran is different of the common dialect. The Jordan has their accent , Egyptian too , Tunisian and Iraqi , and so on, but we all can understand each other in despite of the different accents .
wadi B3eed وفسرت الماء بعد جهد بالماء
lesfa dhom
صحيح فسرت الماء بعد جهد بالماء و سكبت على رأسي الماء حتى فقت بالماء وشربت الماء حتى تيقنت أنه بعد أن ارتويت أنه ماء هههههههههههههههههه
wadi B3eed بالعافيه على قلبك الطيب
احس ان مسألة اللهجات مبالغ فيها!
Arghhh arabic is so BEAUTIFUL. IM JEALOUS with you guys
The formal Arabic will make all arabs from west to east understand you without problems so it's a good idea to start with it
تحياتي
This is not the best strategy, although many Arabs believe this to be true for some reason. I think it has to do with a mindset that the dialects are inferior to Fusha or just slang. But the dialects are the heart languages of Arab people and it is through dialect that you can connect with people in meaningful ways, which is why most people study languages. The best strategy, I think, is to choose a dialect that is widely understood by Arabs or choose the dialect that is most useful to you in your context. I'm learning Jordanian Arabic, and my Arab friends from all over the Muslim world can understand me. Salaam

What I love the most about Arabic is how romantic it can be when it comes to describing love. There are 12 synonyms to describe the different stages of love. E.g Shaghaf is the first stage of love, it indicates that you are in the early stages of falling in love, but not completely there yet . The last stage is when someone has the Hoyam, which can be paraphrased (not translated) into this ; is when a lover is too in love, he surrenders everything to his beloved one, he becomes sick, doesn't want to go on in life without him/ her, always needing her next to him, refusing everything, and almost becoming crazy without her/ him
ما شاء الله.
فرحتُ بهذا الفيديو.
The most important reason for Muslims to learn Arabic is to be able to understand the last and the final revelation Al Quran Al Kareem.
1:43 it's FUS-HA 😁 it should't make an "sh" sound..
But you did a really good job with Arabic 👍
hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh it is ok for learner
المشكلة هي اننا نحن العرب لا نتكلم العربية الفصحى وهناك عدة لهجات مختلفة...🙄😶
@فهمي كتاني May I ask what Zero said? XD
I am thankful that there is not many horrible comments about arabs ..i honestly was scared to look but you are awesome guys☺

I didn't see any negative comments about Arabs but a few from Arabs directed at non-Arabs. . . This is usually the case on videos about Arabic, unfortunately. Many people love arabs, Muslims, and the Arabic language, but sometimes we're actually discouraged by comments from native speakers. . . Sad but true. I'm still learning though!

Hi Lindsay !
Thanks for this interesting videos. A few comments from an experienced Arabic learning that I am: 1) It is not precise enough to say that there is no verb "to be" in Arabic > it is only for the present tense, the verb "kaana" is used for the past and the future tenses!
2) 5:42 "damma" does not dubble the letter it is the vowel "u" what dubbles the letter is the chadda !
Are you planning to learn Fosha ? Good luck ! Greetings !!!

As a native Arabic speaker your discrbtion to Arabic language was great keep going
Very accurate, Gorgeos explanation ❤.
as a native Moroccan Arabic speaker, every dialect is BASICALLY a different language, even within the same country
الولايات العربيه المتحده 1. There was no war lmao its called colonisation also we mix more than just French and Arabic but also Spanish, English, German, Dutch, etc.
الولايات العربيه المتحده
no do not say false truch here plz educate yourself there is no mix between morrocan and french ...the dialect of morrocan is different bcz there is influenced by the native ppl of north africa the berber ppl and influenced by iberic or the andalusian dialect ppl when they come in morroco .....
Not quite true. I can understand most dialects very well with the exception of Morrocan, Tunisian and Algerian dialects unless the speaker use some fus-ha then it is true it's more like another language. Love North African dialects so much, just like the wonderful people form there!
i understand even morrocan and tunisian and algerian if they speak some what slowly, it's not the words that we don't understand it's the way they're said, i'm from syria btw
ari
That’s not true!
As an Iraqi, I understand all Arabic dialects, excluding the Maghrebi ones (Moroccan, Algerian, and Tunisian).
Another great video, Lindsay. I'm watching this from Dubai, so Arabic is on my mind at the moment.

*I'm a native Arabic speaker (Egyptian Dialect),If you need any help,I'm at your disposal.*
Interesting video. I've lived my life in Kuwait and everyday I learn something new in Arabic that I did not know of before. It is a spectacular language.
I believe it gets easier as you learn more, the issues of Arabic just at the start but the grammar is amazing.
I just bought the Glossika Egyptian Arabic course during their annual sale, but I'm saving it for later. My plan is to take a language which is unrelated to any I've already studied, study a lot of sentences, and see if I can pick out the grammar rules without being taught them. I tried this last year with Indonesian, but Indonesian grammar turned out to be so easy that any method would work for learning Indonesian grammar. So I decided to try the experiment again with Arabic, maybe in a year or two.
Thanks for the video. It was fun to watch.
Andy Roberts hi iam egyptian do u want any help?
When I start Egyptian Arabic, maybe I will. As I said above, I'll probably wait a year or two before I study it. Thanks for the offer of help, though!
Andy Roberts Egyptian Arabic? Do you mean the Egyptian dialect? Because Standard Arabic ( Al- fusha) is the same in all Arab countries. However, each country does have its own dialect(s) and accents which are often very different in terms of lexis and grammar from Standard Arabic. Personally, i don't think learning Egyptian dialect is a great decision, for it lacks consistent grammar rules( like most local dialects) which you're planning to deduce through your time consuming trial and error learning method. Also, it is so accented that you might not be able to communicate with other Arabs. However, if you learned Modern Standard Arabic, you'd master the language faster, and more importantly, most Arabs ( no matter what their dialects are) would understand you. It's true that Al-fusha is not a conversational language but still it allows you get the gist of the conversation in most Arabic dialects. Anyhow, good luck in your endeavours =)
The phrase "the Egyptian dialect of the Arabic language" is too long a phrase, so most Westerners simply say "Egyptian Arabic" or "Moroccan Arabic" or whatever. Naturally, you understood me, as everybody does. So I'll continue with the Western convention: It's concise and easy to understand.
You brought up a good point: Because Modern Standard Arabic has a more consistent grammar, it's better suited for deducing grammar, as per my experiment. However, I like the sound of Egyptian Arabic, and the sound of the language (or dialect) is one of my motivations for putting in the time to study it. But whatever I end up studying when the time comes, I will probably only dabble in it. My main focus is on East Asian languages because I live on the US West Coast, and they (especially Japanese) require a lot of my time! So it will be just an experiment, not a serious study of the language. As such, whether I study MSA or a dialect, I will probably only do so for a few months.
Thank you for your advice and encouragement, Amira. You reminded me of a good reason to choose MSA. However, I already bought the Glossika course for Egyptian Arabic. If I choose MSA, I'll have to select a different source for example sentences or I'll have to pay $30 per month for a Glossika subscription, as Glossika has switched to a subscription service. Thanks again for your advice.

Fus-ha is understandable by all Arabs, dialects are very similar to each other. It's just some loan words and sometimes a change in letters. plus dialects are fun to learn and many are famous such as the Egyptian dialect that every Arab knows because of many reasons.
sayed ali hashim صح كتيير ! 👌👏💓
Love your videos and channel. 💖💕
شكرا على مجهوداتك😘😍
*Ye ask and ye shall receive.
(“You” is the object form of “ye”. Like how “him” is the object form of “he”. You wouldn’t say: “him asks.” Also, only the third person, present singular conjugation of verbs get the -eth ending. I.e. He asketh/She doeth/It hath/The dog speaketh etc.)
شكرًا لك، أعجبني الفيديو كثيرا 😍❤️❤️
I just started learning arabic this summer. Honestly, I find the logic of this language great. Like you said it is pretty simple compared to french. I am a French Canadian and, even if I write poetry in french from time to time and that I pay attention to the way I write, I still can't say I mastered the French language (with it's 24 verb tense). Since a third of the engineering students in my university in Halifax Nova-Scotia are from the Middle-East and Northern-Africa, it seemed like a language that I would be able to use on a regular basis. (and it just sounds and looks so good too).

a VERY nice vidéo, as an arabic speaker i really commend you for the efforts you made, and your pronounciation is GREAT,
just one remark:
on 5:40 you said "damma" doubles any consonnant. it's actually not "damma", it's "chadda" that doubles the consonnant (it looks like a horizontal 3 )
the "damma" is an "O" .. for example .. a damma on an M is pronounced MO .. and on a B is pronounced BO ... and so on.
enjoy learning arabic :)
yeah and one other thing .. the WORD "Alphabet" itself is arabic ... its origin is الألفبائية
I am very admired with the way that you pronounce the words in Arabic such as "mashallah" go ahead, great job! 😊
I don't know why I like hearing Arabic from foreigners that melts my heart like insanely
