i met a guy in a bar with a briefcase once, and I asked if he had some important documents or something, then he said "Nah, it's my cards, man", and I was like "Holy shit, it's not MTG by any chance?" and he was liek "Yes, yes it is" and we played a game in the bar and everyone looked weird at us.
22:50 that card is still insane, you can buff the creature too so you get a token, a land that taps for anything and draws you a card, and enters untapped
The art on Keepers of the Faith always cracks me up for some reason. It's like the guys in it are saying "Oh great, the thing we're supposed to be moving is levitating again, now we gotta just stand here until it lands."
in london in england the place i go for FNM and pre releases is the spare room above a pub and we all go down for food and drinks (alcoholic for us 18+ers) when we break for lunch. its great
That last Michael Gills Planeswalker reminded me of the Unhinged card Enter the Dungeon, which in turn caused me to remember a crazy idea a couple of my friends and I had a few years ago. Three words: Unhinged Grand Melee. I so want it to happen.
Graham the combo is called counter top it uses counterbalance which is a UU enchantment and sensei divining top with is 1 artifact. When someone cast a spell you use the top to check the top three cards of your library find a card that has the same CMC as the casted card put it on top then let counter balance resolve reveal that card and stop the spell. However the opponent can tap the top and send it to the top of the library to stop any one drops and then draw and play it next turn
::Drinks at the oasis of a new TTC.:: Thanks! I think I'll survive now! ;) And yay for Chronicles! I was really hoping for one of the Legendary Dragons...
So... I think it would be really cool (and funny) if they actually did a 21+ tournament where it's every time X happens, you drink or just everybody has a drink or two before the tournament and plays the tournament like that.
Oversimplified answer, it basically allows you to decide how combat damage to your creatures is assigned. If works differently depending on whether you're attacking or blocking. It's a mess.
I was playing a Commander game last weekend where I had blue and black primordials and Sheoldred in my graveyard. Another guy with and izzet deck has plenty of mana open and I know he has a twincast. I cast rise from the grave on my Sheoldred, knowing he would twincast and take the black primordial, which I then commandeer for free. All good? Except he then casts a fully overloaded counterflux. Can't counter that, my original rise goes away, he grabs the black primordial and then the blue one
Lazav doesn't work in an Oona deck if Oona is your primary form of mil, because she exiles cards off the top of a player's library, and doesn't put them into a graveyard.
Your events have breaks?! Here where I live our FNM/Pre-Release/etc. it takes between three and seven hours WITHOUT breaks. You guys are lucky, or your events take forever.
Ah I shall explain. Destroy one non-land and get a forest is no biggy BUT destroy 5 and get five? They were created for commander and are too powerful. I run a 3-of Sylvan Primordial in a Land destruction deck that I play along side Arbor Elf + Verdant Haven for mana and unexpected results :D - Timmy
Sylvan primordial and Borbor is a nonbo? Add storm cauldron! I played a seismic assault deck back when that was a new card. Storm cauldron, horn of greed, laugh as people try to relearn how to play magic.
The primordials were unfortunately made too powerful :( Sepulchral is SO overpowered, if there is no attempt at stoppin you then you win. Sylvan Primordial is also gross. I did however beat someone in the DGM pre-release with their own ruric thar after countering their varolz with the psycich thingy.
I disagree. The primordials have a very high mana cost, which offsets their high power. If these cards are so overpowered, why is nobody playing them in standard? In limited they can be nasty, I'll agree with that.
I run a commander deck focusin on Sheoldred and the sepulchral primordial is a winmill slamdunk in that deck.
i met a guy in a bar with a briefcase once, and I asked if he had some important documents or something, then he said "Nah, it's my cards, man", and I was like "Holy shit, it's not MTG by any chance?" and he was liek "Yes, yes it is" and we played a game in the bar and everyone looked weird at us.
I tip my hat to you sir. What decks did you two play?
I was drunk. And had only played a few games, and didn't know enough to really get it yet, and also it was a few years ago.
Kathlene pissed off James before this episode... 16:00 he rolls his eyes at her for no reason. Wonder if im right?
As is mentioned, in the video annotations :)
I love you guys, keep making new Friday Nights too!
22:50 that card is still insane, you can buff the creature too so you get a token, a land that taps for anything and draws you a card, and enters untapped

12:10 Counterbalance guys
Ashnod's Altar, Fecundity and Saproling Cluster. (Added value from any cards that hit the graveyard and shuffle back in.)
17:50 Paul, I believe the word you are looking for is archer-esque.
THANK YOU

Three words: Unhinged Grand Melee. I so want it to happen.
I love the Sylvan Primordial. Big green that ramps into even bigger green, while delaying the opponent and blocking almost anything? Sold.
Graham the combo is called counter top

I figured Kathleen would love the Diluvian primordial, it's awesome in the Dimir limited deck.
love ashnod's altar- goes very well in saproling combo decks, I.E Ghave, Guru of Spores.
That Wight of Precinct Six has potential to be a beast in my blue/black Dimir mill deck.
So... I think it would be really cool (and funny) if they actually did a 21+ tournament where it's every time X happens, you drink or just everybody has a drink or two before the tournament and plays the tournament like that.
If you don't finish your drink before the end of the round you have to buy the judge or TO a drink of their choice
But Active Volcano is the worst option to destroy Counterbalance, if Top is in play. He will just bounce the top and counter your spell.
How many one-drops could you possibly find in a Blue or Blue-Red EDH deck?
+Camden Paolucci Top is a 1 drop. Its activated ability puts itself on top of your library. (Sorry about responding to a 3 month comment.)
Sylvan Primordial + any of the green creatures with 'return a green creature in upkeep' effects :3
An event with a bar would be kind of hilarious to watch, to be honest.
Ok, I just need to ask... Why or how is Bump in the Night getting tapped in the opening? Awesome show as always, by the way. :)
Cheers from Italy.

I don't watch these videos often so I dont know but I figured it would be worth asking. What generals do you guys mainly use?
Hahahaha!! 49:45 "Maze of Ith? FUCK THAT!!"
And using the blue one, grabs my rise from the grave, to get Sheoldred.
I was playing a Commander game last weekend where I had blue and black primordials and Sheoldred in my graveyard. Another guy with and izzet deck has plenty of mana open and I know he has a twincast. Has anyone considered comboing Hellkite Tyrant with Mycosynth Lattice?
You can hit clones with the primordial which is insane! - Timmy
Edmonton has a bar that hosts weekly drafts and the occasional other magic event.
Lazav doesn't work in an Oona deck if Oona is your primary form of mil, because she exiles cards off the top of a player's library, and doesn't put them into a graveyard.
Ashnod's altar...fuck yeah
So anyone finish the TTC cast yet?
Molten Primordial + sac outlet = fun times
wait, with the 4 color one you could make a control deck just to stall.
If you double block with Wall of Vapor does that mean you could kill the opponents guys without yours taking damage?
Anyone been in a cube with an open bar? Kinda funny to watch the serious fight with people. XD
34:30; really? who keeps a seven drop in their hand for value paul...
the card you were thinking of was: Counterbalance
Haha At the ptq Sheffield and Manchester and Doncaster we had a bar
I would like to drink my grand prix sorrows away at a bar
15:06
What does banding do?
Life's Finale right before the black Primordial seems pretty legit
Why not Giant Adephage?
Your events have breaks?! Here where I live our FNM/Pre-Release/etc. it takes between three and seven hours WITHOUT breaks. You guys are lucky, or your events take forever.
Odyssey has lots of Dwarves actually.
There's 38 dwarves, 20 Changeling creatures and Mistform Ultimus.
Time code 11:25 to 12:07, Graham. :-)
Izzet Drinks in test tubes... I want this... for science, mind you.
COUNTERBALANCE!
yay!
Gah, 54:25? I could get through most of a movie in that time.... Ok fine but just because I love you guys
"red and blue.""izzet?"
you said is it (Izzet) when you were talking about red and blue, and you did not even mean to.
kathleen yawns in pretty much all videos..do you record these at night ??
there are actually 32 dwarves in mtg at the moment
Urza's Mine.
ALL MINE!
niv-mizzet with mike gills
no problem.
DAN IS A homunculus!!!!!!!!
Long time no sAy
Molten primordial + Cloudshift xD
Hate to disagree, Paul, but Sylvan Primordial + Borborygmos + Storm Cauldron actually is rather nice.
Wait a minute.. There's at least 35 dwarf cards in mtg...
The Sylvan Primordial is now banned from EDH... =( =) =?
to good for EDH
I know, but it would have been sooo good in my Riku deck =,(
Not banned in french rules ^^
Hisoka's Casual Magic Lesson hence the ban. Also it was more banned because of roon of the hidden realm.
+Urbarask Praetor Yeah, thanks to being a bit smarter after a year, I have realized that it would be way to op in the Roon deck =/
this is so awkward because they arnt looking at each other.
well path of exile .........

flicker or copy sylvan primordial a few times, lock people out of their mana, games end quickly
Dan is blue because he controls the cards behind the desk. xDDDDD
Actually I really do think that's the joke.
i have a artifact edh deck the genral is sharuum the hegemon and tis called ARTIPOCOLYPS
I disagree. The primordials have a very high mana cost, which offsets their high power. If these cards are so overpowered, why is nobody playing them in standard? In limited they can be nasty, I'll agree with that.
the name still needs work
Let me be the first to say: Counterbalance. :)
we house rule no auto win cards
Goddamn i hate Hellkite Tyrant.. i hate that card so much.
Hell kite tyrant ruined my edh artipoclyps deck
