Thanks for the motivation.... Now I have to pull my junk out of the snow bank so I can wrench on it. Supposed to be -30 here tomorrow good thing I have shop heat
Great build so far. You guys should be proud! Got a D2 I am slowly working up into something a little more robust, as it gets treated a bit rough at times. Love Barnes 4x4, just got my Track and drag link kit the other day for my D2. Can’t wait to fit them!
Isn't your rear driveshaft going to be on a angle as we're it exists on the lando transfer it's offset to the driver side and we're the saf diff head is bang in the middle?
Thanks! Nothing bad about the at all! The reason I changed is that in stock form, Disco axles aren’t hugely strong, they are more than enough for most applications (Landos on stock axles and gets wheeled reasonably hard) however they wouldn’t hold up to competition use especially on 36s or bigger soon! I had the option of either put chromoly shafts in and build the axles, or swap to Saf axles. Saf axles were just the cheaper option by a lot, which is why I went that route as this is a budget build, where Lando will be getting chromos soon as it is the truck to not have any expense spared on it, and I actually prefer LR axles!
Haha close... actually some old 33s for mocking up another build but Lando is getting some new meats soon and I think they have been slipped in the odd video as a teaser haha
@@vicious0005 Much stronger axle shafts and CVs are stronger too. Diffs are bulletproof compared to LR and way cheaper to get upgrades for. As the $100 Disco is a budget build I went this route, Lando is more of a "less expense spared" build, so will be staying with Land Rover axles, and getting chromoly CVs and shafts, to go with the lockers and gears that have already been upgraded. Hope this helps!
Good to see the younger generation get stuck in but you've made a rod for your back with the way you've done the rear arms and you've restricted your flex capabilities because of where and the type of brackets you have used
Found your channel this morning ... Great to see young guys keeping the sport alive and getting stuck into the old trucks..
Great to see the next Generation of Offroaders getting stuck into home builds.... great work guys, great work, keep it up 👍👍👍
Thanks man, appreciate it!

This is a sick build cant wait to see it done
Cheers! Haha trust me, I can’t wait for it to be done. Definitely in need of a rest soon!
I just flipped the a frame beams to allow for some clearence at the diff
Yea we looked at that but ran outta time. Gonna make out own upper a frame to fix the geometry eventually instead 👍
Brilliant...
Awesome job guys, good motivation
Cheers man!
Good work boys enjoy long vids much better happy days on the truck look forward to the next mission cheers, shaneo ,in nelson mate
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed it!!!!
to match bends next time measure from the front of the head to the frame, you can then replicate bends and they will be the same
How'd you go with the tail shaft, with the output on the transfer being offset to the diff flange?
G'day Just found your channel mate and subbed mate

Yea it will be, have had a good read and chat with others who have done it and shouldn’t be too much of an issue 👍
Good vid as usual. What’s so bad about disco axles? I always assumed they were fine
Sounds cooler

@@Crawlerer79 oh didn’t realise you were putting Bigfoot tyres on it :)
Should be epic
33:20 Lando tires?
Haha close... actually some old 33s for mocking up another build but Lando is getting some new meats soon and I think they have been slipped in the odd video as a teaser haha
@@Crawlerer79 Aha, Ill be looking
What is the main reason for a patrol axle over a discovery axle?
Cheap upgrade in strength 👍
@@Crawlerer79 what is stronger about them? The housing, the axle or the diff? If the trussed the disco axle surely it would suffice.

@@Crawlerer79 copy that. Yeah I’m just curious as I have not heard of it being a commonly done swap.
Hey man, do you have to cert the axle and diff swap?
If it was a road legal truck, yes. But this is a trailer queen build so free to do what I want haha
@@Crawlerer79 sweet as 🤙🤙 jelsous as! You guys do a good job keep it up
Bring back hundred dollar disco

Cheers, from how the truck sits and where the axle sits at full bump, it seems to cycle without binding!
