Today is my sister's b'day. Making this one for her. Pray that it turns out okay. Will let you all know how it was. Edit : turned out okay however the caramelised sugar was overdone and it made the crust quite bitter. My sis didn't like it as the crust spoiled the dish. The custard beneath it was good and tasty. My advice : keep the caramelised sugar to a lighter golden brown, don't go for dark brown plus heating the sugar on a nonstick pan is the best idea, you don't wanna spoil your skillet. Sugar may release a lot of froth (impurity) upon heating. Add some lemon juice or a spoon full of milk to burn up the impurity. Bonus tip : RINSE YOUR SKILLET/PAN USED FOR CARAMELIZATION IMMEDIATELY WITH BOILING HOT WATER once you transfer caramelised sugar to your baking dish. DO NOT RINSE YOUR PAN UNDER COLD WATER otherwise you'll have to scrape the solidified sugar "candy" off your pan.

Lovely presentation. To make it easier soak the bread in some milk and grind it to liquid. Add it to the remaining milk and sugar and bring it to boil and then add custard powder that is mixed with milk and stir till thick paste. Pour over the caramel and put it to steam

Making this now I've swapped the sugar caramel for dark brown and cinnamon it's in the oven now so I guess it will come out oh yeah the custard I've put evaporated milk and condensed milk this looks good thanks

For those who think their caramel is burnt and is giving a burn smell then don't worry... Just melt it till it's all brown even if it's smell changes... It will automatically set up while steaming

I would suggest that you add a beaten egg to the milk mixture.. unless you are a vegan. While it tastes okay I found it lacks the richness that an egg brings to it.
