@@729Farms I do not. I tried raising one and it was a lot of trouble. If I had more predator pressure it would be worth it and I'd give it more of a chance :).
We don't have enough graze... So my neighbors let us walk our sheep on their properties. It's a lot of work, but teaching my son's to be shepherds has opened conversations that lead to higher understanding. Biblical understanding. Thank you for helping us. And God Bless your flocks
Has anyone here read " a shepherd looks at Psalm 23"? A blessing of a book for anyone. So many things I never knew about raising sheep from a godly perspective.❤
Appreciate all you are doing. We have bought a young ewe from the sale barn. I know that is NOT best. The reason we did this was to learn before spending bunches on good pedigree sheep. Once we become comfortable we will most likely take this ewe to the butcher.
Thank you for doing these videos. I’ve had my flock of 4 ewes since April. They all had lambs. Now have 4 ewes 5 ewe lambs and 1 ram lamb that will be in my freezer in a few months. The ewes will be held for lambing so next spring they should start making some money for our home. All on 5 acre pasture. I have learned a lot from your videos and books. Thanks so much and may God continue to Bless you and your family.
This is my 2 cents on your content of late, I miss the old videos of when you showed us around your farm and your operations and gave us updates on lambing, pasture/disease management, and so on. The new content might be great for others but for me (one of your early followers) I miss the greenery, the sheep, and the chicken lady. I hope you take this as feedback and not criticism, signing out from 🇿🇦
Very good interview! I am subscribed to Linessa Farms on YT. I am glad you touched on a combined flock of sheep and goats as I just purchased 2 sheep to run with my goats. I was trying to figure out how to deal with the mineral issue. I will consult with my vet (who raises sheep) about the multi mid 90.
Excellent information! Tim is very knowledgeable! What I question is the feed source as most products fed to humans and animals is gmo which is making our society very sickened. Is it now impossible to avoid?
Question for you: I have had 2 visits in the past several months from my State Dept. of Ag regarding complaints from people driving by my farm that my sheep don't have shelter. I'm running St Croix and St. Croix/Katahdin crosses. What's your opinion on shelter for hair sheep? We rotationally graze, inside of Premier One sheep netting and move them about every 2-3 days.
I have cows that are dry lot year around. I am considering getting a few sheep also I raise everything for my own meat no pasture in available here for such a small operation
I know nothing about sheep and parasites. Could you use food grade diatomaceous earth sprinkled on their feed? I know this is a way to eliminate parasites in dogs and cats.

@theshepherdess do you have any LGD’s? If not, why not? Do you want one?

Looking forward to this. I live in high desert in AZ, and only have an acre. (I'm old)
Glad to hear it!

Check out first Saturday lime in lieu of diatomaceous earth for ticks

I'd make sure they have some shade. Here is a DIY shade structure tutorial I have: ua-cam.com/video/kGzC28WLqa4/v-deo.html
Can you have sheep and cows together in a rotational grazing system?
Yes!

I feed my flock of rotational-grazed sheep free-choice Sea-90 salt and Thorvin Kelp with no parasite problems

DE has not been an effective treatment for me at my farm. You could, however, experiment with it yourself and track fecal egg counts while you do!
