Sky News host fact-checks Noel Pearson’s ‘bizarre’ Voice speech

- Sky News host Andrew Bolt fact-checks leading ‘Yes’ campaigner Noel Pearson after his “bizarre” Voice speech at the National Press Club of Australia.
“I want to go back to it because Pearson claimed I was wrong … saying no this Voice an Aboriginal-only advisory parliament in our constitution that the government wants us to vote for next month - this Voice is not racist," Mr Bolt said.
“No, he says it is not going to divide us by race at all.
“Pearson and others in the Yes campaign are clearly embarrassed that they’re pushing an official racism on Australia.
“But his argument … about indigeneity is a distinction without a difference - but actually it’s also false - because the Voice does divide us by race.”
Mr Bolt was joined by Liberal MP Warren Entsch to discuss Mr Pearson’s comments and his Voice pitch.
Pearson should be investigated for corruption & misappropriation of Australian tax payer monies .

Pearson just added more emphasis for Australians to No vote. We are supposed to one. But somehow 3.9% of the population gets 40 Billion dollars from the average hard working Australians. It's about time to have a royal commission on aboriginal allocation of funds, with the view in prosecuting those who have illegally diverted tax payers funds into their pockets, and depriving those in need the proper support they should receive.
An audit
1/2 trillion over 15 years!! I agree the best support for aboriginal people would be transparent and accountable expenditure that’s failed to support them. There’s a need for scrutiny beyond an audit.
@@Em_Chester_ scrutiny is incorrect its got a back on the plantation feel bro. Accountability now that's the ticket .
@@jtither4646 anything that actually ensures the community in need actually received the support they need and the Corporation Industry created is about the people not the bureaucrats. And not another layer of bureaucracy diluting support actually received.
@@Em_Chester_ then we need to have the goverment step back , and just make funding available to community . if you look at history there's a pattern of goverments trying to correct social issues ,throwing billions of dollars at it and making it worse and creating more problems by inadvertent destroying supports of the community they were trying to help . It means us as a community need to be making the plan allocating the funding implementing the changes its a big ask for a society that is inherently selfish .
I have said that I am indigenous. Why? For the simple fact, I was born here
I am prepared to accept and respect Indigenous heritage, acknowledging First Peoples; however Noel Pearson has no right to rob me of my heritage, and homeland, as a native born Australian! My ancestors were invaders and lived in colonial times: we have moved on; Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 moved away from Imperialism and created a Commonwealth where she gave an entire life of service to educate and improve citizens conditions. Noel Pearson is a blackmailer, now backtracking from 'separation'. How dare he try to win votes from recent refugees and migrants on the back of UK colonialism: the multi million dollar grifter needs to help his people without gouging from those who need funding.
Anyone born in Australia is indigenous
Your ancestors were not invaders, they were colonisers. Invaders come with armies and take over without any thought for who is already there. This is not what happened.

Do you all thinkNoel Pearson lives in the bush in North Queensland. He lives in Noosa and his kids go to private schools. Where is the "closing the Gap there"
Why shouldn't he be able to do that?
Noel Pearson’s speak was word salad. He has spoken openly about his views on what the voice will be, a powerful arm of the government that will allow a few elite indigenous people a lifelong public service job with at least $200,000 (they will appoint themselves of course) AND massive funds from the government for treaty, like a percentage of GDP. What has he spent the 550 million dollars on. Accountability. I agree with Jacinta price. We don’t need a voice, we need accountability for the nearly 40 billion spent each year by the Noel Pearson’s of the indigenous people. Unreal. The voice will not even help the people they claim it will.

@@supernovaaustconvince me to vote yes....i want you to tell me the benefits of the yes vote and what will happen ? Im undecided.
@@lindagregory6877 First benefit is we will fall into international legal norms regarding this embarrassing predicament. Every single Commonwealth nation has a discussion process with indiginouse people's. You know the part in the bible where Jesus gets sentenced to death by the Jews but the Roman government executed him? Well that's based on a Roman law that is entrenched in our cultural landscape which exists to this day. The law states that when a conquering army conquers a nation the subject of that are allowed certain rights. One right is to have access to your own laws and traditions. The example above where Jesus was sentenced by Jewish law under a Roman government is the best example I can give. This has turned into international law. The only way you can circumnavigate that law is to say the place is Terra Nullius, land of no people. I can't say what the benifits to you personally will be because I don't know your cultural background. But, let's say you are European decent and no cultural ties to indiginouse Australia for example. If a no vote gets passed, indiginouse Australian have more than fullfilled their obligations under international law to try and talk about their inherent rights. If they get a no vote, they could go to the international courts and ask for a judgement. As all other countries have signed treaties we will be isolated in terms of support. The court in this case would probably impose strict conditions if Australia loses. Any realist who knows the law knows Australia will more than likely lose the case. The current arguments just do not hold up to the legal obligations. Not just a great embarrassment, but the courts would impose strict conditions which far outweigh the what would happen if the yes got though. The reasoning is this, the courts would have to protect themselves from further problems so as in civil cases would impose strict conditions. Australia, not being honest about its obligations would be on the backfoot and made an example of. So the benifit to you is you will face a lesser of two situations, maybe not you, but certainly your children if you indeed had them. So, in short you would be far better off with the yes. Further, if a foreign nation other than Australia signs a treaty, technically I believe they could argue a good case for its justification to ownership. Please ask for clarifications👍
Great report, thank you Andrew.

I am of Irish ancestry (53%). That said, I am indigenous to this country. I was born in this land, I reside in this land, many of my family stories are from this land. I am Australian. Mr Pearson....it may enlighten you to look up the actual meaning of the word 'indigenous.' My celtic ancestors were dispossessed of their land, ripped away from their familes, enslavened for many years, shackled, starved, opressed and beaten cruelly. Who pays reparations to us for the loss of our Irish culture, our ancestral heritage and family relations in Ireland, who we've never met. This is what happened to my great, great grandfather and grandmother, all because of their beliefs and their fight against their opressors and for sovereignty of their own land. They were part of the United Irish Rebellion. Because of this, my great, great grandfathers family were brutally murdered. These poor Irish wretches, the convicts, built the foundations on which this country flourishes today. No hand outs, no support, no health system, no education, no government housing, no money. How did they do it? Extreme hard work, determination and sheer grit. That's how. They worked their butts off to build a life for their familes in a harsh, hostile environment. As a result we all now enjoy tne fruits of their hard labour and have conveniences and comforts that all peoples in Australia enjoy today and that includes you, Mr Pearson and your mob. Encourage all Aboriginal folk to look forward and work toward the future. Australian taxpayers are under enough hardship as it is. No more..we owe you nothing. I asked my Yes doorknocker (an intelligent political science student) if people like Jacinta Price and Warren Mundine would be appointed or elected to the Voice. He replied that there's was a very minority view and therefore they would not be elected. So regardless of the process, of elevation to the Voice (probably more in the way of aristocratic preferment than democratic election - a sort of House of Lords), it was confirmed that not all Aboriginal voices would be allowed, and that the Voice would be a moribund receptacle of tired ideas.
I noticed Noel got the big room. Unlike Jacinta who got the small room. Racist much?
The one thing we have learnt in the YES campaign for the Voice is they have absolutely no interest in the experience of the ELECTED representatives at the coal face working with indigenous communities in regional areas where the most disadvantage is prevelant.
Very true! Has Noel Pearson defined those marginalised that need Voice and extra billions to 'close the gap'. The Voice we know what he is arguing, however, I would like to see some of the real disadvantaged and ask, "do they know Noel Pearson". Noel Pearson is a very greedy and selfish man who needs to live in the present so his people can move forward.
The voice is made up from community representatives from communities around Australia. Each community has its own way in which it brings forth its representatives. As so it should be.
Well, I don't have much time for self-aggrandizing community representatives dubiously 'brought forth'. There's a basic democratic principal in this country called a secret ballot, which produces transparent accountable elected representatives. It's not perfect, but for all its flaws, it is the best system we have.
@@bushwhacked1835 That's OK because it's not really your culture; hence the voice. The argument goes like this: according to the doctrines of maritime law in the 1700s , and I believe to this day, when a community of people are subjected by force they still have basic human rights. In fact these laws come from the Roman days. One basic human right afforded people is the right to practice their culture. This was a legal obligation of the British and hence the Australian Federation under international maritime law which should have included a conversation on how to make it work for both sides. This conversation has never officially existed. Australia is the only British Commonwealth where it hasn't. It is an unlawful act which is a tarnish on Australia's great reputation. Therfore, the signatories representing 1600 people from communities across Australia decided for themselves this approach. It must be remembered out of those 1600 less than 10 dissented. Where in democracy can you get more than 90% in agreement? It could be argued that this method produces better outcomes. Regardless, it's their culture and its up to themselves how they go about organising it.
Why don’t you talk about who was here before the aborigines
The National Indigenous Australians Agency is the Aboriginal Voice, we don't need another one in the Constitution forever.

Senator Price says Australian taxpayers spend at least $100 million a day on direct support for Indigenous Australians. Every year $39.5 billion of direct government expenditure every single year. The figures are based on the 2017 Indigenous Expenditure Report produced by the Productivity Commission. Issues of racial and social injustices are hardly ousted by elevating and heightening race (cultural identification, credentials). Especially on a political level, but also within the wider community. The Voice to Parliament is all about adding a new “Elite Canberra-based bureaucracy” in the constitution rather than reconciliation or recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Its a very simple equation; if you cured drug addiction overnight, drug counselors would cease to exist. If you cured alcoholism you would not need AA; if you cured crime overnight, we woudnt need the police; if you found a solution for "indigenous disadvantage".....?
Noel Pearson and his cronies would have to work for their money. To be fair funding has provided jobs and helped indigenous people, but why the hate, why the presumption of racism; moreover, why the belief that we are invaders all, still and owe them for eternity? Noel Pearson should watch out because he might be identified as a 'colonial master' and we his 'slaves'.
@@gppsoftware It's like being a "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion" officer in a University; the strategy is simple; conduct a loaded survey on DEI, create a "report" to highlight issues, then come up with solutions to solve them.
Exactly. That's why people like Price and Mundine are no. They riding the gravy train. Never seen an aboriginal in Italian suits till I saw Mundine.
Not divide us by race, it already has.
One people One Australia vote no to the voice.
Interesting that Pearson et al are all getting paid through the public purse and have been for decades. If it's been so bad and so many gaps why are they taking the money. Isn't it tainted in the boohoo victimhood industry. That's why they all want a yes, to keep being wealthy beyond most Aborigines dreams of such affluence. These people are disingenuous and DO NOT REPRESENT First Nations peoples. The ones I have in my family and know through my life are stand up proud Australians. We all want to close all the gaps for all Australians.
I was waiting for Warren to do a ,,welcome to country ,, 😂😂😂😂
So Noel Pearson is getting a good slices of the pie 🥧 🤔 can we stop given them so much money 💰 and get them to work
Now that was one of Warren's finest moments.
The problem with a government that sees looking after people as their role is that they will inevitably be held to ransom by people who want to live off emergency aid.
This has disabled our ability to look after each other by encouraging the idea we deserve community resources instead of being grateful for them.
He keeps the cash under his hat!
SO PEARSON WHAT DID. YOU DO WITH THE 550MILLION FOR CAPE YORK PEOPLE???IN YOUR POCKET???
Very interesting Andrew.
Very interesting that Mr Pearson has his hands in all the pies!
I wonder how much of the pies he’s enjoying!!
