A couple years ago, I went a full season without a bite... out every weekend... on Feb 24th , midday , flat calm water & sun beating down, I got a "one-beeper" thought I'd snagged a branch from the undertow... a minute later a single beep... fuck this I thought, may as well get it in, clean it up & out again... lifted into a log... then the "log" pulled back !! 😱.... 3/4 hr. later I had my PB... 28lbs !! 🤗 Even without catching, I just love getting out... I find putting the kettle on brings the bites... 🙄 And yes, lamprey is soo spendy... but its a magic bait. 😈 Tough as old boots, I like to inject my baits too... Thanks for the vid , Graham. I enjoyed yer rambling chat, like fishin with a mate... At 64y.o. so my chances of a new PB are getting slimmer, but I just filled my freezer with a couple hundred quids worth of baits so no excuse there...as long as I can do it, I'll do it...🤔 A sub & a like from me mate ! I'm at work right now looking out the window its raining dull no wind 11 degrees my sort of piking day . Its my last day at work so it's my Friday lol 5 days off so in my head I'm planning my next piking session. All my gear is ready to go. That's a great PB 28lb . Hey you never know when you strike into that run it just could be that one fish of a lifetime. But if it isn't they are all welcome. And yes my freezer is all full up mainly Mackerel, Lamprey, eel sections. Sardines,. Tight lines mate and get out as much as you can 🎣

Lamprey just wins, end of discussion! Although i get blood going on any dead by snipping at the gill rakers, lots of blood in there. But lamprey, i fished one for 3 sessions it still bled.
@@grahamrobinson6455 I remember walking down there one day when I was little and I threw something in the water and spooked a mallard, As it skimmed over the top of the water a pike grabbed it and took it under. I never see it come back up.
@@grahamrobinson6455 I used to fish glassmoor bank I believe it's pondersbridge stretch back way to whittlsey I used to fish right near the road under the bridge as u turn onto glassmoor bank

Some big old pike in that turves drain.
There is mate I've had plenty of doubles . Never had anything bigger than 16lb but there must be some big girls in there .

Which bridge is that if you don't mind me asking?
Dont have a clue of the name of the bridge mate . But it's next to the Railway bridge on the twenty foot. Been fishing here for years .
